Ok you win. That is a GREAT use of it. Because you get the higher attack bonus.

Weirdly, I found Guardian is a fun base for Witch dedication. Some of those hexes work great without high INT and proficiency. And being status penalties/bonuses, makes it stackable with Guardian’s circumstance penalties/bonuses. Also: the Witch dedication iconic is a fricking armored knight with a falcon familiar. AND we have Sheltering Wing hex? HMMMMM….! Edit: It’s probably not good, but a Whisper of Winds + Spirit Guide (flavor as a falcon). Patron’s Puppey (trigger the Fly) -> Strike (Jaw…flavor as Beak) -> Stride away. Or if an ally disarms an enemy, Patron’s Puppet to Stride -> Grab the Weapon -> Familiar ability to Fly upwards. Super funny! Also, it’s unsurprising you got excited by Sheltering Wings. A lot of folks got hung up on the Cover, but the biggest part (IMO) is the “carry your familiar” as that synergizes with some other Witch stuff (such as an…Independent Crawling Hand?).

@@WisdomCheck They were actually awakened by a forest goblin druid...after eating psychadelic mushrooms growing in that goblin tribe's garbage. The goblin thought, "haha, you know what would be REALLY funny? if this possum tripped so hard it gained sapience."

Funny because Awakened Opossum was exactly what I was thinking too. Possibly awakened opossum investigator that is convinced the evidence can be found in the garbage dumpsters out back.

I’m incredibly excited that my Tortle Witch I brewed up for the remaster that has been abandoned by his prior patron/familiar in favor of the Resentment will have a fully developed character art as he ventures from the swamps north of Ustalav to the Mushfen and throughout discovering life force after meeting a Druid. He can start by resenting all societal constructs as he was essentially a swamp witch and discover life giving lessons from the party cleric to be inspired. I’m hoping to be abandoned by this familiar and a new friend comes along. 👀👀

This is an amazing idea. I love that you had such a well thought out backstory that has just been sitting there for a while that suddenly you can play. That's really exciting to see. :-)

This new options i feel fit the classic "hag of the swamp"/"Voodo Mama Odie" style of witch and i would love to make some witches with it.

Patron of Decay calls for a bag of rats out of combat. Portents of the Haruspex kinda calls for it in combat...

Yes! Today is Wild Mimic and tomorrow should be Thlipit. I intend to put out centaur as well but I'm not certain what order it falls in yet.

Hahaha hell yeah! I like it with the Ardande versatile Heritage as well because then you can get just a little bit more rot in there.

I gave it some thought. Unless the familiar has that titan feat, it can only trip, shove, ect small creatures

Loved your presentation. 🤩🤩🤩😍😇 Liked the new Patron stuff --> good freaky story material.🥳🤯😈😈😈 Was a bit disappointed about the feats 😒😔😴--> A Witch needs better (ranged) melee offensive stuff. --> Guess I can still do a magus with a witch dedication and go BOOM. But that's going to be an action economy nightmare ... maybe ... owwww, I just love the magus too. Hmmm, let me muse on this ... So ... a Laughing Shadow magus, with eldritch nails ... that can actually hold a wand or even a staff. Because both hands are free, and you only need one free hand ... Hmmm, do I get the fun tentacle blue orb thing through a dedication ? And yes, we focus on the slashing damage. Also, maybe I talk to my DM to allow me to put spell scroll effects on my nails for good measure ... I don't think it is overkill.

It is not overkill. You could even sacrifice a feat to do it. I too have been trying to maximize a witch/Magus build. I love the idea of the Laughing Shadow witch

I was white boarding some stuff out and…Blood in the Water is surprising strong if you just full round Sustain, BUT, also add Cackle in there. 4x save damage. Quickened Casting, you could use Rouse Skeleton or Feral Shades, then Blood in the Water. Super high level, but having Effortless Concentration means 5x Sustain in one round. That’s kind of crazy!

@@toodleselnoodos6738 What... have you... done? Jesus now that is a great combo. It doesn't even take that many steps of preparation for it. God I didn't even think of sustaining multiple times a round. F***. That's kind of great.

With thousands of possible character builds in PF2 I really shouldn't make my backup character a witch when I'm already playing a witch but it's hard to resist the temptation. I really like that they've moved away from death, decay, rot and fungus as being negative or evil and are instead emphasising how they're an essential part of sustaining life. Blood in the Water getting automatic sustain is going to make it very popular considering how go mad for Cackle; I might retrain Elemental Betrayal to take it.

I would! Blood in the water is a surprise to me. A pleasant one, I just didn't expect them to allow something that works like that. Maybe you could do what my live play group did recently and that is: have a couple of characters spare as backups and then just decide that your character that you're currently playing goes off for a personal reason and play another character for a while. Then you can still stay in the same campaign and even reintroduce your old character if you don't like the new character.

So for anyone reading this who's in Jake's live game (not you Red =P), we should all make Witches so he's less inclined to fuck with us due to his Witch bias. LOL
