Wild Indonesia - Episode 2: Papua's Lost Worlds | Wildlife Documentary
Watch 'Wild Indonesia - Episode 3' here: • Wild Indonesia | Episo...
In this episode:
On Indonesia's eastern frontier lies an ancient world forged by fire. Isolated for thousands of years it is a land of extremes where creatures have evolved beyond recognition. Each habitat harbors a unique mix of the bold and the bizarre as Papua's lost worlds support one of the richest and bizarre concentrations of life on our planet.
The 17,000 islands of Indonesia stretch more than 3,000 miles along the equator, bridging Asia and Australasia. Indonesia’s natural habitats vary widely. On some islands, tropical forests climb from steamy lowlands to mountain slopes. On others, parched savannah thrives. Coral reefs line thousands of tranquil atolls, while relentless waves batter rocky cliffs on other shores. In Papua, the mountains reach so high that permanent ice caps top their peaks, surrounded by barren alpine tundra. These wildly ranging habitats are home to an incredible number and diversity of living creatures - this landmark series is a celebration of Indonesia’s most spectacular locations and incredible wildlife.

I feel this doc could be a message from the universe to me, beckoning me to this magical place. Papua-New Guinea has long, long been THE most exotic place - in my mind - that I could ever hope to visit. I’m deep into my delayed wanderlust, Guatemala kicked it back in, I’m hitting Coastal B.C. in search of Sasquatch (check out Jason Kenzie docs, everywhere!) for 9 days…..then, where will Penelope go!? Papua? Yes, I hope❣️

Group of 10 whale sharks show up to be thrown scraps from their rightful fish food that those fishermen are so graciously taking for themselves. Each whale shark needs 440 pounds of food per day and these jokers have the audacity to hand them a few small handfuls of scraps they don't want. Oh how generous and kind. I hate fishermen most selfish people on earth.Go ahead take it all! When its gone and the ocean is full of jellyfish and sea urchins don't say we didn't warn you.
