    I know this vid is a year old, but YES! Pitch KZread, NatGeo, Discovery, Travel, Netflix about a show with the two of you traveling and catching, harvesting, touring, breeding, eating all different species. You have plenty of time to plan with Covid-19. Make a plan a get it rolling!!

    This is the way we preserve these fish and there will always be negative people who have nothing really invested in trying to get the fish here and breed and preserve them and don't know what they are talking about

    The Spix macaw has gone instinct in the wild. It's not extinct completly thanks to passionate people, like you, that kept and bred that bird they loved. More than ever we need people like that, that will salvage anything they can from the global slaughter. This is what you are meant to do ! So just keep doing it ! ;)

    Love seeing vids of Dean's fish room. You will never see a dirty tank in his fish room and that says a lot. Plus you can really see he cares about the fish to.

    Yall do it right.. It takes time, money and understanding. 35 years ago they used local paralysis roots and stems to bulk collect. MANY garbage collectors still do. Your efforts and Knowledge adds to the passion of the hobby. I don't own tanks I have aquariums. Keep up the great work.

    The discussion in this video about the problems with the shipping of the wild caught tropical fish is unpleasant to listen to, but its important that as many in the hobby hear this as possible. I think that's proved, by the view count here. Thanks for sharing this video, and for leaving it up.

    just saw this vid, those knife fish are native fish from Suriname from what i see, Gymnotus carapo(not sure),HOPOPOMUS ARTEDI,the third one i dont know :/, hope it helps XD, they get quite huge 40cm-70 cm or so.

    Those brazilian nut husks are also used in flame powered power plants in Riberalta Bolivia. They have HUGE mountains of them that they pile up during the collection season. They burn them all year long.

    If we as hobbyists/ breeders can increase the availability of rare/hard to get fish then we can reduce the illegal taking of them as risks outweigh the gains which will help sustain wild species

    Great information, for all the Dudley do righter's out there Get real,If it wasn't for People like you And Dean, No hobbyist would know That they'd never have any exotic Fish,And one day You just might be called heroes Saving fish that may not exist in the future Due to the pollution That other people have created By mining rivers And lakes Just trash that someone threw in there didn't give a crap,So all I can say is thank you I love what you do and I am a hobbyist and I'm aware that you get fish from the wild not from a tank,That is the only way will continue to find new breeds That in the future may not survive our ecosystem Because of the careless people.I guess that's all I need to say ,I know for a fact From yourVideo You are a what Conscious eco-friendly people,Preserving the future that Someday may not be here,Not because of you, Because of careless others.     AdeptLen Sadly I also hope that these companies will be stopped, but getting these animals out of the wild and breeding them won’t be too bad. Just in case that the habitate of these fish will get destroyed out of pure capitalist greed, the fish will at least survive and maybe, if the waters will get habitable again in the future, the hobby-bred fish might be used to repopulate these waters with their original inhabitants. Just as you said: we can do more than one thing at the same time. We can try to stop companies from destroying nature and save these fish as a backup-plan.

    @ 51:30 I have this sponge in my 29 gallon shrimp palace. My shrimp are all over the sponge grazing - all sizes from new hatchlings to adults. YMMV

    Cory, years ago when I kept fish, to get a sponge to fit more snugly on a filter tube, I put a line of silicon on the tube and it worked great. I tried silicon washers, but they sometimes slipped up the tube when I tried pushing the sponge on. I let the silicon cure for a couple of days and it stayed in place.

    Thank you again for all you great info, as a very serious hobbyist and trained in my teens in salt , and Freshwater,Degrees in my 2o's from a Company I work for no longer exist as he got Older and had to retire,Maybe your videos will help other people alsoRealize what Eco-friendly people you are as I am myself.I don't know why but I haven't subscribed until today,Been watching your videos off and on for about two years plus.Thank you for all the great info and more.
