    Great video, just subscribed, so looking forward to watching more of your content :) I've camped all over Dartmoor, usually around the top of tors. I've never really considered a riverside camp, but your video has inspired me for my next camp. I have a few locations in mind so I think I'll be checking them out during my next hike. Thank you for sharing a well edited video

    Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed it. Dartmoor and Bodmin are very similar, but obviously with Dartmoor being bigger, there's a lot more to explore. Plenty of great places to get started on the west side of the moor if your coming from that way. Thanks for watching, Cheers, Elliott.

    Hi Elliott, that looked like my idea of camping nirvana! What an idyllic spot and it's not often that you see folk out with those Saunders tents. It's a real shame that they're no longer in production because they look spot on. I think Peanut perhaps stole the show there, but thanks for bringing us along 👍

    Thanks Barney. Yeah it was a lovely spot, definitely be returning at some point. Great to hear you're familiar with Saunders tents. I actually got the one in the video over 30 years ago. Perhaps things have moved on a bit now in terms of design, but I like the fact that I can use this tent without any poles using a ridge line and just the flysheet with a bivi bag if required. Probably do that in a vid at some point. Have you ever owned a Saunders Tent? Anyways, thanks for watching the Peanut show 🐶 Cheers, Elliott.

    Thanks Matt, appreciate it mate 👍 Yeah I'm lucky to live in an area with a lot of rivers and streams and love to camp by a water supply of some kind as it saves on carrying water in etc. The tent flysheet can actually be used on its own with a ridge line for a super light weight set up in woods, so its pretty versatile. Anyway, thanks for watching mate. Take care, Elliott.

    That is a lovely spot for an overnighter, if you can sleep with the continues sounds of the stream then that is great, were you able to view the stream very far down? Always a good idea to cut out a piece of turf to preserve the grass I think,. any way great video well-done.

    Yeah was a shoddy location Des. I’ll try a bit harder next time 😂 Good to hear you’ve used Saunders tents, that one is 30 years old, but it’s very light and can be pitched without poles if required using a ridge line, and fly sheet only, so pretty versatile. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Elliott.

    Not sure if you class that as a 'non open fire' but I seriously wouldn't post doing it on youtube. It only encouragesn non responsible people to make camp fires. Scorching the ground is not LNT even if its dug up and covered over. Sorry to have a go but we need to respect the rules otherwise it will only have a negative effect on us.

    Thanks for your comment my friend and I totally appreciate your point. We absolutely must set a good example while wild camping and I'm always coming across fire pits where no effort has been made to leave no trace, which is exactly what we want to avoid. I always leave a camp spot exactly as I found it including re covering my fire pit and taking all my rubbish away, as I show in the videos. Apart from the flattened grass, you wouldn't know I'd been there, but I do accept that some people will see the fire, but not watch to the end of the video where everything is returned to the way it was before I camped and will bear that in mind in future videos. Thanks for raising this point as I do genuinely think its important and thanks for watching. Cheers, Elliott.

    @@beaconbushcraftoutdoors5834 no problem elliot. I think the other issue is where people see someone having a fire and think it's OK to have one themselves but don't have the experience to ensure its managed properly and end up starting a fire specially in this weather. You sometimes have to treat everyone as idiots to make sure they don't do something stupid. Cheers for responding though and not taking it the wrong way. 👍

    I have to agree with novice, LNT is not covering up scorched ground with grass. People may think it’s ok to have open fires on Dartmoor. Plus was this in the camping permitted zone?

  • @beaconbushcraftoutdoors5834

    @beaconbushcraftoutdoors5834

    Point taken and thanks for watching. For what its worth, the scorched ground was doused with water and then covered with turf which will re grow, so there will be no trace of my camp. Also, yes it was in the permitted zone. Cheers, Elliott.
