I think the reason that this is different from situations like Dream’s is because Shelby never even mentioned his name. While in other situations like Dream’s, the people were immediately pointing out Dream, were immediately going after him and it kind of came off as clout chasing. Shelby I don’t think was really looking for attention and just wanted to warn others about abusive relationships. P.S. I am not a Dream fan or anything, it was just the first situation I could think of 😭

exactly what i was thinking. With the Dream situation, it was as if every other week someone accused him of something, which made knowing what was and wasnt genuine harder and harder. I left the fandom a while ago, this being one of the reasons. Besides the drama, the fandom also lost all credibility for me. However, with Wilbur, it is undeniable true. Shelby never mentioned the name, and honestly i'm kinda dissapointed people immediantly turned this on Wilbur, mostly disregarding her. I got to know about this as 'The Wilbur situation' (aka 'wilbur did something' and not 'shelby came out about her situation'), which is sad.

People were assuming it was will, and if he denied it at all, shelby could have easily proven he was a liar, so he had to say something. He made a response, not an apology. I'm not defending will, but I believe in innocent till proven guilty in a court of law. That requires less emotion and more logic. I get people wanting to support shelby as if this is true and people don't then it can be really damaging. But in the chance it's false I don't want people to unknowingly slander wilbur. The apology wasnt a response. The purpose of it was for him to respond a bit to the allegations to show hes aware and to prelude hes going to make a full response soon since he needs time. He only apologized out of respect, if he hurt anyone, and to make shubbles feelings valid. He never admitted to @bus3. Wilbur said he bit her with permission, not with ill intent. He said hes going to make a full reponse after "he recollects his thoughts" with proof. Basically theres no proof for shubbles and wilburs side. We dont have wilburs full side with proof (coming soon). Everyones neutral.

Dream's statement pretty much summed up all the issues with the "apology", I wish that was something that was read on this video instead of just mentioning some "predator" tweets. It was odd that the Niki's short statement on twitter, or the clip of her stream where Soot laughed at her telling about him biting her, wasn't mentioned either - they would have provided so much context and backed up Shelby's experiences.

I said it before and I'll say it again, Wilbur is gonna need a super miracle for his carrer to come back (which is likely to not happen due to how selfish the apology sounded and how Wilbur's friends came out against him).

I loved soot house and didn't know that he continued solo on another channel. I do believe that the whole group dynamic was incredibly. After they left without saying anything, I had no hope for them returning and I am not sure if they would still want to work together. It's just sad that such a funny channel is gone, but I have accepted it.

Shelby didn't prove that those conversations took place. I get that that is almost impossible to prove though. Since this is a CRIME iy should go through court. Then we can know if it's true or not. Realistically speaking what evidence are u supposed to have? Photos of bite marks? Not everyone is quick enough to realized they are being abused, especially one whos manipulated and lovebombed, you wont take evidence of abuse until you are aware you are in one. In this case, Shelby doesnt know until the end of their relationship. Not saying we should believe everything, but people like Tom are constantly on proofboner, expecting everyone to have proof all the time.

Critique me, but this is my personal opinions based on this video, since this is my first time exposed to these allegations. I definitely think there should be more proof for both sides, but as for now, I'm leaning towards shubble due to wilbur saying that he has proof that he's innocent yet not willing to show said proof out of "respect". If anyone has any more insight on this or has any critiques please do tell.

you shouldn’t be critiqued, your opinion on this situation is how most people should react due to low info at the moment yes shelby is the victim and people should support her but there should be more proof from both sides, everyone is coming to fast with conclusions on a topic that hasn’t even got solid proof for an example look at the depp and heard situation everyone was shitting on depp and trying to cancel him but in court it was revealed that heard has planned all of this and she was the real abuser, it’s like people make conclusions on the first two pages of the book and don’t read it to the end

To maybe let people know they shouldn't jump to conclusions. There is 0 evidence either way but people are supporting the woman because she is a woman and nothing else. This has happened numerous times and often ends up being proven false allegations. But here we are once again, jumping on the man bad bandwagon without a single piece of evidence outside of one person's allegations.

GFM did a waaaay better job at that. just look at the comments of toms video and how different they are from his usual comments. i like tom but his video just wasnt very good. this has nothing to do with men vs women. shubble made herself very clear while soot did not.

I watched Shubble in the 2010s with SkyDoesMinecraft. I didn’t watch Wilbur till I think SMPLive, and I really loved listening to his music. Im gonna support Shelby because her saying it has made a lot of stuff in my mind click with how he acts and interacts with others in videos as well. Im not listening to any of his music (including LoveJoy which I adore) till things are more clear in what’s actually happening

So this is very, unfortunate. Of course there's always going to be people who turned out to not be as nice as you expect and the reason Wilbur is so interesting to me is it sounds very, real. The problem with a lot of abuse accusations are they are extreme sounding, like the person was some master manipulator intentionally going out of their way to be a monster and that noone knew the real them. With What Shubble said it seems very real that Wilbur seemed oblivious to how little he supported her while supporting others in his life with fervor. This suggests that the reason people didn't notice is cause it wasn't just that it wasn't a public side of him hidden behind a mask but that Wilbur was genuinely, stupid. I also think that there's a chance Wilbur does not/ did not fully grasp the issues with his biting, as many people who are neurodivergent and have issues understanding and even accepting social norms will often just, be blind to their behavior being a problem if htey do not suffer personal consequences for them, such as having your girlfriend flat out break up with you near instantly or having your friends distance themselves from you because of it. As such He probably saw his biting as a joke and/or a form of affection and did not realize that joking that it looks like he was abusing her wasn't as much as joke as he should of realized. I also do not think it's fair to say dream can't keep his nose out of drama. Even in your recent video you said Dream handled the situation as well as he could of with his last video and he has generally dismantled all but the most stubborn anti-dream types from his detractors. So bringing up the people making memes about 'alien vs predator' with dream calling out wilbur feels unrelated to the situation. The sad part is I wonder how Philza is taking this all, Wilbur was one of his earliest and dearest friends, given how much of a dad figure he is to other Minecrafters like Wilbur, tommy, ranboo and others it must be breaking his heart to have to figure out what's going on and what he should do. Similarly i can only imagine how Technoblade would of reacted to finding all this out. Techno was rarely an angry man but I can't imagine him not giving wilbur a damn earful if this turned out to be true. Wilburs apology is, a mess. It is hard to tell if wilbur is being overly honest that he does have the information but doesn't want to effectively dox Shubble by releasing it or he's trying to save face. While it is good to admit he wasn't a good boyfriend and it's always good to admit you're taking steps to improve as a person it feels like it becomes to big of a part of the apology to be effective. There's a lot in this that i, relate to in a bad way because I empathize with a lot of the potential mental reasons wilbur is acting the way he is about it but that doesn't make any of it okay.

Explanations are not excuses, but trying to say it's offensive without understanding why someone says something like that is actually why this stuff never finds real solutions.

Yeah, ive never been a big fan of wilbur soot, but ive seen him in other peoples videos and heard some of the other things hes gotten in trouble for, and "stupid and oblivious" definitely describes him. I think it is entirely plausible that he was being straight up clueless rather than malicious, but also agree that it does not in any way absolve him of that harm. Especially when someone straight up was telling him to stop - he had an obligation to take that request seriously, not double down to be cute or funny, like it sounds like he was doing. Tldr: yeah, i agree it sounds like he just had his head up his ass instead of being intentionally malicious, but also refusing to pull your head out of your ass when people tell you its a problem is still asshole behavior.

This is the one time where I have fully agreed with a comment about this drama. I am neurodivergent myself and I have a really hard time picking up on social norms, like it has to be physically told to me for me to understand it. I'd imagine a lot of it also has to do with Wilbur's upbringing since to me he is obviously neurodivergent too, so it was likely that he never got taught what was right and what was wrong. I know people love to say "Oh but he is a fully grown adult, how would he not know that this is wrong" and my reasoning is, just because you are an adult doesn't mean you suddenly know everything that is right or wrong, it has to be taught to you, especially if you are neurodivergent.

It just irks me how fast things like these go, not that i think he's innocent, if he was then he would've shown his own so called "evidence." But as it is right now, for all we know he himself is lying just to get this whole thing over with. Thinking it could just blow over (it won't.) It's just so stupid how fast everyone picked Shelby's side. Kicking him out of stuff and immediately saying there's evidence. There is none. This is factual. Yes he's admitted to it, but that is not evidence. People can lie. I just don't like how this whole thing happened even if it ended up the same way with the abuser getting rightfully condemned. Just reminded me of Slazo where it happened the near the exact same way. In fact, it was *worse*, his accusations actually had evidence. It only ended up being revealed later on that really, it wasn't as bad as it was portrayed, and it was a huge mistake, but by then it was too late. its the usual minecraft community mixed with twitter mob and yt drama channels stoking the flames. i dont mind GFM since hes always respectful but every drama channel is talking about this too. they produce hour long videos despite having 10 minutes of content as you see from GFM. he talks about the points and is done, but hes the exeption to drama channels. even tom, who i personally like, made a 30 minute video just rambling and many people in the comments agreed with me that tom didnt really add anything and played everything down. all this pressure is giving people the illusion that they have to pick a side, to have an opinion and something to say about the next big drama before its over.

I'm sort of mixed on this, though unfortunately as a victim of abuse, i do personally have some opinions on this. Yes, wills statement was poorly written, and its clear he was a bad boyfriend, however i don't believe everything Shelby says, and do lean more towards believing Wilbur's claims that he believed it was consentual. Thing is, sometimes so do the victims. I thought for years that i was consenting to what was happening to me, but i realized i actually didn't like what was happening but didn't speak up because i was afraid to shame or lose my partner. its possible that both sides of the story are true, to both of them. I do think wilbur is genuinely sorry personally, even abusers can change. Obviously, not excusing what he may have put her through, and i don't want to make her feelings seem invalid, but i don't believe wilbur is fully guilty
