Thanks for sharing. I think most of windsurfer also experienced more or less the same. Still, windsurfing my opinion one of a great sport ever.

I love that this shows a session gone wrong. A lot to learn here. Many of us have had similar experiences at some point.

Strong current, not enough wind. Been there myself and was lucky (with menacing cliffs and rocks and the sun went down). Can happen if the wind drops. End up with nothing to push the fin up against. Then there’s problem seaweed. Getting to know a spot well helps, but you know what it’s like, when you’re gagging to get on the water.

Glad you made it. Valuable lesson. This is important for all beginners to see. I made my share of mistakes, and I'm not sure there's a windsurfer, kiter, surfer, or winger who hasn't. Learn that waterstart and double-check your setup. If you don't know the area and there's no one else sailing, ask yourself why? Good for you for posting this, though. It will help others, that's a very good thing.

Shit happens, surviving is all that matters. Oh, and learning not to do that again. Been there, done that. I've watched your other videos and you're a good sailor. We all have a bad day.

Ops Harwich takes another. First a winger now a windsurfer. Needed bigger kit for the conditions.

Probably best to learn to water start 100% before you venture out in those conditions. My heart dropped when you fell off and climbed on the board to uphaul the sail.

We've all been beginners!.. yep, your sail was too small(or use a much higher volume board) speed gets you out of trouble in my 40 years windsurfing. Keep going tho...you did ok,and didn't panic.👍🍻

What happened? My guess is that you had exhaustion from multiple uphauling and waterstart fails in the swell, right? Good on you for posting though. Gauging the conditions and knowing your limits is an important part of this sport.

Well done for posting ( and opening yourself up to the critics!) We've all been out on too small kit at some point but mostly we get away with it and manage the wobble back in. Spot knowledge of those tides would have helped though:)

@@Joeyvideo whoa, that's scary. Did you check the tides beforehand or just hopefully relied on better wind conditions?

Good decision to ditch the sail, I might have been tempted to ditch the harness and uj so I can lay flat on the board and paddle back with my arms if it got more desperate. Change tactics from windsurf to surfboard. All good lessons in this sport.

Maybe spin your harness around your waist but , if you have to self rescue. You have to make your life the priority. Had a great sail at Chalkwell , Southend windfoiling today🤙😁

By the looks of it, not SINGLE a clue about the currents, tide, dangers of sailing near a shipping lane, or the weather forecast. Let alone the outdated rig / board combination or lack of water start technique… yet. Hope the rescue boat gave you a big fine or you donated generously.

My experience of Windsurfer’s over the course of my life is that they are generally a friendly and supportive bunch. I’ve been windsurfing for over 30 years. What’s wrong with you? So he got a few things wrong, put a KZread video up and people can learn from it. I don’t see him being deserving of this kind of comment. Maybe you’re not really a Windsurfer.
