Another difference between the 2 versions of the game is when you start up a game in the training mode. On the early version there is a 1.3 second pause before the phrase start appears, whereas in the updated version there is no longer a pause.

I'm in Europe, and my copy of the game only says "2006 Nintendo" on the title screen and has no Wii Remote jackets. However, the new cutscenes, animations and sound effects are all in my copy of the game.

I may be wrong on this, but in earlier 1.00 versions of the game, the Wrist Strap warning screen before the title screen is much different. The later 1.01 versions would use the Wrist Strap warning screen that is probably much more familiar to most Wii owners.

The original strap was similar to a zip tie but the new ones had a lock. I believe this was a result of complaints of the strap becoming undone in the original. They were incredibly loose.

Fun fact during the games demo there originally going to be a 6th called airplane. Basically it would have fly around an island through rings with a timer. Sadly didnt make it to the game when boxing and bowling were added in

Fun fact:Wii play was being developed at the same time with Wii sports so that is why they have similar names and no Wii jacket and strap Wii sports: SPORTS PACK for REVOLUTION Wii Play: PARTY PACK for REVOLUTION Also Wii play goal is to teach you about the Wii remote,so I won't be surprised if it was supposed to be the first game

Also apparently at one point they were the same game but the team had so many ideas for mini games that they decided to split them up; the sports ones became Wii Sports and everything else became Wii Play

Funny Poofesure's insanity inspired you to get Wii Sports for nostalgia's sake. Watching his vids got me back into that and Tomodachi Life recently lol. In fact, his Tomodachi Life vids are probably the more chill vids he's made lol.

The 1.00 version of the game is getting valuable. Not just because of the fact that it’s an older version, but also because it’s a highly desirable copy for speed runners, due to the lack of cutscenes.

I love how at 5:45 you just casually have a collection of derpy cartoon characters waiting to get in on the action lol

this goes along with the wii remote jacket updates, but to coincide with them in 1.01, one of the pre-game health message popups (i.e. "take a break," "clear space" etc.) mentions the wii remote jacket

I had both versions as a kid. The console bundle had 1.00, but the disk got super scratches up in a few years time, so we bought another copy. That new copy was 1.01 and we were confused why the baseball cutscene wasn't there before.

Still got my 1.0 copy and Wii console from 2006. Never knew there was an updated version.

looks like there are also differences between the european und us version, i had the first european version, which actually had all the updates from the updated version you presented, except for the wii remote jacket in the title screen, so my version also has the added animations and the sounds of the arrows when selecting your mii

It's actually just the US version that lacks these features, both the European *AND* Japanese releases have them.

All the cutscenes were present in the 1.00 version in the UK, same as in Japan. NTSC regions (USA, Canada, etc.) were the only ones to not have the cutscenes on that version. They were actually lacking a few features that were present on the PAL and Japanese releases.

These changes were probably related to the American version cause I live in Europe and I distinctly remember that my game didn't have the wii condom illustration but still got every cutscene

I'm not sure that they fixed the tennis exploit. The Wii Sports i have has the baseball cutscene and pretty much every other thing you mentioned, but it's still possible to use the tennis exploit. I'm not sure what's going on there.

personally I can't stand the 1.0.1 version. I don't like how the Mii moves around in Baseball. 1.0.0 is my favorite version as I had a launch Wii

1.00, you just live in a region that's outside of the US and a few other countries. They lacked a few features in their 1.00 that everyone else had.

I have watched this video a long time ago, but yesterday I resurfaced my wii sports game just to find out that it was the 1.0 version 😅

after watching this video i immediately went to check weather or not my wii sport was the 1.00 version or the 1.01 version because for some reason it never occurred to me there were two different versions of the game but when i looked at my game, i saw it was the 2006 one (the 1.00 version) but my game HAS the newest things on the 1.01 version of the game like the cut scenes (like the baseball one and the boxing one) and also stuff like the audio when scrolling left to right on the mii selection part & the audio coming out the wii remote but stuff like the wiggling in baseball i don't have mine just stands still. does this mean i have a mix of both 1.00 + 1.01 but in the 1.00 version ?? i just think its really funny like does this make my wii sports ✨special✨

@@scampernoodle6757 What happens in a lot of older games with version differences is that a game will come out in a region, get updated for another region and then eventualy find it's way back to the original region. The Wii came out a month prior in the US compared to the rest of the world (even including Japan) so I assume when they realized they shipped with the older version they switched it out for international and future US sales.

I feel like we can all agree to call it the wii condom. Also jack-it isn't a better name lmao.
