Wiffle Balls | Product Review

As requested by one of my subscribers, I'm reviewing the wiffle balls. This particular brand is Masters Golf.
Wiffle balls ▶ amzn.to/2GYTkhy
The advantages of using these practice balls is that you don't need a lot of space at all.
The only downside is that I am not sure whether it really gives you a true ball flight.
Let me know in the comments what practice balls you use and whether they are good ball flight indicators.

Rodrigo Alonso in fact, I felt the best contact with my driver, just struggled a little in shaping the ball, you can even use a real tee. Yes, I’ll be reviewing the dimpled foam balls soon 👍

I used these wiffle balls 8 years ago. I agree with you on the downside; we can't tell if the shots are straight. I finally learned to shoot straight with drivers. I'm using the wiffle balls again because sometimes I miss the ball. I'm progressing slowly. 😅👍⛳❤️

Backyard Golfer; I just love your videos. I think it's something about golfing in the backyard that appeals to me. I think this ball won't draw, fade, hook or slice because of the holes in them. I think that makes them kind of dangerous for any swing practicing. I see them as an easy way to groove a bad swing. I've been using the foam balls with dimples. I wanted to ask you why do you like the Foam balls without dimples the most? Is it because of the short distance they travel? Also do you think they show the ball flight better than the Foam balls with dimples? And you just got a new subscriber :)

Thank you! I tried these wiffle balls, but they break very easily, they actually do draw and fade, but do not have a true flight. I like foam balls without dimples, yes because of the shorter distance, but also the feel. I find those with dimples to feel too spongy for me. The ball flight are good for both, but overall they tend to exaggerate a draw and fade.

Shootin The Shave thanks, these work great, but I noticed that after a while they split in half, I think I tried just about all limited flight balls and I do alternate when I practice, but my favorite are the yellow foam balls (without dimples) 👍

Wiffle balls are good to have a target 🎯 when you swing 🏌️ Since all of these kinds of balls are not really to help with understanding shot shape, I think 💭 feel and durability are the key factors. Good review👍🏼

Thanks, I guess you're right, but I think understanding where the ball goes is crucial. I spent over a year hitting balls into a net ruining my swing.... I would say these wiffle balls are definitely durable, but do not give your a very true ball flight, I prefer using foam balls when I can't go to the range, you can definitely shape those

@@thebackyardgolfer7010 I agree that you do need to see ball flight at some point. I think wiffle or foam balls are a tool that has to be used in conjunction with live practice.

@@agolferswalk Yes, in fact when I don't go to the range for a while I can see that it feels different to hit balls and I have to get adjust it, but overall I think these balls are especially great when you are working on a swing change, actually it might be better to do a swing change using these balls, but like you say in conjunction with real ball practice. It's weird but for some reason it's easier to ingrain a swing change with fake balls and when I go to the range I start to go back to my bad habbits.... so I guess there has to be a good balance until you get to where you want

@@thebackyardgolfer7010 I know what you mean about making swing changes, not at a range. I start most of my changes with no ball, but with a mirror. I don't want the result of the ball to interfere with the goal. The goal being making the change in my swing. I have a major rebuild of my swing that I just started about 1 week ago and trying to do it by hitting balls is counter productive. First, I don't hit the new positions. Therefore I am not actually make the right changes. Second, it can be frustrating that ball contact is so off, or balance can be so off. Lastly, if you think you made a good swing and the ball doesn't go where you want, you may consciously or subconsciously start to make changes to what you intended goal was. The mirror allows me to check that I am getting to the correct positions and adjust each one as needed. After I have done about 100 "swings"/day in front of mirror for 1 week, then I will try to take it to the range and start to allow my body to get use to hitting the ball. I think the balls you are reviewing are a good thing to use within the process. I hope this helps someone, and thanks for the opportunity to share.

I have bought plenty of these air balls and they are excellent...BUT this week although the balls looked the same they were not made of a 'pliable' soft compound . The new hard shell therefore travels much further which makes them unusable on my patch! I will buy the next lot from my local dealer. The soft ones will also, eventually, split in two. I have lost dozens into my conifers - eventually they work their way down and the tree gives birth to them at the bottom.

Yeah, these are about the only ones you can use on a limited space, I used to play with them alot, but eventually got a golf net and a radar. I'm not too sure how good they are when hit off the toe or heel.

My drives allways curve right and I think its to do with my setup/stance. Will the wiffle balls do the same so I can practice straightening my shot and set up?

  • @thebackyardgolfer7010

They will, but they are more exaggerated, so a draw will be more like a hook and a fade more like a slice. I prefer foam balls, they work pretty good with drivers and I can tell you that the ball trajectory is true to a real ball.
