She'll be out in no time. Women don't serve harsh sentences 95% of the time. Fun fact: as a woman you can have your 9 yo daughter addicted to crystal, boom boom your husband point blank for smoking it without you while daughter is home, attempt to get her to help you cover it up, dump the body and only get a 7 yr sentence. True story from Arkansas.

I'm sure it's possible there is some disparity there. But men have also received relatively short sentences for murder. There is one I'm thinking of as an example - but damned if I can remember his name right now - murdered his poor wife in their bed using a plastic bag over her head, was only sentenced to eight years, and immediately married his mistress when he was released and now is presumably living happily ever after.

In cases like this, I always think about the criminal's family, especially about his/her parents. Where were they? Did they maintain a close relationship with their son/daughter prior to the crime? It seems that these murderers have little to none ties to the family they grew up in... Maybe this is a contributing factor in their mess.

It is interesting how two people can live in the same home and try to live separate lives. I also find it interesting that people don't explore more of the incredible amount of options to counter boredom. When we were younger, we would do things like engage in traditions or experience popular culture all the time.

According to the World Health Organisation, the chances of getting it through normal intercourse is only 0.08%. If his exposure was very recent, as Dr Grande speculated, there was a very small window for her to have contracted it and even then the chances were small. Despite the claims of another commenter that she infected him deliberately as a means of defense, this seems extremely unlikely given that the HIV factor was only discovered at the autopsy, not mentioned by the defendant. I think also he may have noticed being stabbed by a needle. Also, she worked at a basic GP practice not an AIDS clinic. Only 12 people per 100000 in the US have AIDS and though it can live in non-lab conditions for some days, it’s ability to transmit is almost completely destroyed so the likelihood of her having the opportunity to infect her husband in this matter seems infinitesimal.

Yet again, another case of why people just don’t get a divorce instead of embarking on this tragic path. I wish this was the only pathetic story of this type but it’s the exact opposite. Caveat-the crime is reprehensible but there is a right not to self incriminate. Do not speak to the police without first consulting with an attorney.

I feel sorry for her son. His life was ruined at the age of 16 by the murder of his step-dad. Selfish people make others suffer for their poor decisions and lack of judgment. The mother's drug use could have started much earlier when she partied in high school, became promiscuous, got pregnant, and gave birth to him at age 16 because life repeats itself. Career choices can also be made for either good or bad reasons.

I always wonder if the victim knew the kind of danger they were in or if they had no idea. This guy allegedly bought a shotgun and an insurance policy for his wife. It think it is reasonable to believe that he had no idea what kind of woman he was married to. The kind who kills because she is bored of a man, tries to profit off the murder, and accuses him of abuse to try to get away with murder.
