Another year, another mol! Thanks Marieke, you're a legend! It's my fourth year with your subtitles (around 7 series) and it's a great pleasure having you again. I even tipped last year (what a fantastic series that was). I miss Art already. I was gutted seeing that he's not back, he was just perfect! They even changed his "time for the test" lines which I already know by heart even without speaking Dutch lol. But Rik is a good alternative and he was great back in 2015 (another wonderful series). It's my first year actually knowing one of them (Nielson from Sexy Als Ik Dans) so that was funny, since I'm not really familiar with Dutch celebs. And I'm already falling into a tunnel vision... . . . . . After 3 years without a female mol, I guess there's no way it'll be a man this time. I had this suspicion last year when I thought they wouldn't have 3 male mols in a row, but they did. This year I can't think they can drag it any longer. For the sake of diversity, It's time for a female mol!

I love the show, but it was canceled here in the States about 10 years ago. I've seen all 5 seasons. This is the only way I can get my fix. I hope ABC sees this! :-)

My heart dropped when the lost the wooden box in the river. My ecologist hard is worried for the wildlife, hopefully the skippers are able to catch it further down the river.

A joker turns 1 wrong answer on the test into a correct answer. So if you had 10 mistakes, you then only have 9. You can play it whenever you want or give it away. Same with a regular exemption. You can play it whenever and you're automatically on to the next episode. Apparently they've hidden exemptions (the green ones) in the jokers

^ so whats probably about to happen is that people earn or find jokers & get the option to break them open. You can't use them once they're broken, but there might be an exemption in there. Hit or miss.

@@WIDMEnglishSubs I think you could add it within the subs. I watch a lot of foreign shows with English subs. And when there a typical saying for that county, they often translate it literally and have the English meaning or explanation behind. It's makes it really interesting, as you learn a bit from the language. I mean there are so many foreigners watching Asian dramas or tellanovellas, so why not make widm popular too :)

@@mrrit I understand that it would be ideal. Right now I download the Dutch official subtitles, with coding. This means that all lines (about 800) are numbered. If I add 1 line. I have to change every number that comes after or else the coding is not accepted and the subs don't work. It also only works if the added sub can go in between the timestamp of the ones before and after. If 2 timestamps are overlapping, it will not work. If the information is absolutely vital, I will try and find a way to add it, or mention it in the description but adding a few lines will definitely bring in a lot of extra work.

Yeah it wasn't as exciting as premiere of previous season but come on last season's premiere is just impossible to beat :) I like the cast I like the location, don't like the assignmens. Very late to the party (now racing to catch up) but a fantastic first episode. I really enjoyed all the challenges, especially the dancing one. I have some theories about the role the Mol played in this episode but, as per normal, I haven't the faintest clue who they are yet. Hoping the next episode makes things clearer haha.

Great start. I have no clue. Well, I have two guesses.

I like it though, I think it switches things up a bit. One of the (many) things I thought didn't work in the US seasons as well as in other places was that Anderson Cooper would keep repeating the same monotone script over, and over, and over, each elimination... this way things get switched up. That and the new ambient-style music really adds some tension IMO.

Welcome to all of the Nikki fans. Hope you find a love for the show that all of us have loved and watched for years. Even if Nikki gets eliminated at some point I hope yall stick around to watch this wonderful show with us.

Last year’s first episode, was the best one so far!!

As a German Dutch is not thaaaaaat hard to understand. Both languages are quite similar but still...english subs save the day

Thanks very much! * * * * * So SPOILERS. First of all, this was the best first episode of a season in years. Admittedly that's not saying too much (last year the dumb twist of having the candidates start in different locations meant that one of them got eliminated before even getting a chance to meet eight of his teammates, the year before that had only one single challenge in which 4/10 of the candidates didn't even influence the pot at all, etc...) but I liked two of the three challenges. The dance one was fun as heck to watch and try to participate in as a viewer. Really good use of the location. The first challenge too, that offered I thought an interesting test for this year's Mole. I thought the Mole would be one of the ones who really helped here, since the more exemptions you get, the more valuable the group is to see them. The bike challenge... meh. Bicycling around a place looking for envelopes is the kind of challenge I kinda wish WIDM would stop doing. But 2/3 is good for an opening episode. I really liked the way the elimination was done. I LOVED how they didn't show which person each candidate was suspecting, and I hope they continue this for the rest of the season, because honestly there've been Moles that I wouldn't even have suspected in the past but I knew had to be because the remaining contestants obviously suspected them. (Hello, Season 14.) I don't mind them dropping hints that you have to look for as to who eliminated contestants might think it is; but actually having them come straight out and tell us in confessional? Not a fan. So this change is a massively positive one for me. As for Rik as a host... hasn't made a huge impression on me yet... but he's doing fine. One thing I've disliked about WIDM for ages now is the finales when the host would just talk at the final three contestants for several long, tedious minutes, spouting nonsense like "Your hair often hides your face" (yes, that's an actual quote from Art at the end of Season 13) and basically just wasting time. Just put 'em behind three doors, have the winner come out and then let the Mole out. Or just skip the host's patter and have them introduced at the live finale like last year. I really, really hope they decide to go this route instead of what they've done for the last nine seasons. There's an awesome bunch of contestants this year. Robert's great, Nikkie's great, Rick Paul is great, Evi is great, Niels is great. Sinan... his stated intention is to stir the pot but he's barely started, and he doesn't seem like part of the group right now. Overall really happy with the cast and the way they're each being portrayed. Who is the Mole? Well it's difficult to tell, because WIDM has continually had opportunities for the Mole to win money and then take it out of the pot later on (again, will be really happy if this is a thing that doesn't happen here. When money is in the pot, it's in the pot and should go to the winner. The contestants put money in the pot, the Mole tries to stop them from doing so. That's the game.) I don't think Nikkie is the Mole for many reasons - I can't see her being chosen, she insisted on taking the E300 envelope, etc. I don't think Sinan is it because he's just too much of an outsider. I don't know if I'd choose Sarah to be it but she definitely could be. I don't think Merel would have dropped the chest in the water if either of them had been the Mole, and Evi - despite her questionable role in the bicycle assignment - I'm not seeing it... but again she could be. I don't know if I'd choose Robert either, I'd be worried he wouldn't "fit" into this group, but again, I feel as though it could absolutely be him and he was quick to go for the exemption in the "moral choice" thing. Who don't I think is the Mole? At this point... Sinan, Nikkie, Rick Paul, Niels, and Merel. I could be wrong but at this point these look like the less likely suspects. That leaves Jamie, Evi, Robert, Sarah and Evelijn. If I were voting now I'd probably be splitting between Jamie, Sarah, Evi, and Robert as a possible fourth.

The 'problem' is that the subtitles are already coded. That's why I can be so fast. Adding one extra in between wouldn't be possible without spending another hour changing the coding. The messages are all a name, a time and a certain church they had to be at. So you can still see who was wrong.

It is a lot of extra work to add any subtitles as I get the Dutch ones complete with coding. Adding just 1 would mess up the coding and it would take an extra hour to fix it. If any info is super important, I will add it in the description.

That was fast! Thank you so much!!!. . . . . . . . Didn't loved the episode. I think it was way below average, probably my least favorite premiere on the last 9 seasons. I didn't liked either the fact they announced who were the 4 who had the exemption, now they know one of them is not in the right track. Lets see what comes next.

SPOILER I suspect Sarah.What she did on the third assignment is such a mole move,she knew that she wasn't supposed to get the same envelope with Evi but went with her anyway,which resulted in the envelope not being valid.

I just noticed. I'm sorry I didn't see it earlier. I deleted the comment. Sometimes they talk about old moles on the show as well though. So sometimes spoilers on older moles can't be avoided. I always recommend to watch older seasons before you start a new season if you really want to watch all of them without it being spoiled.

WIDM English Subs I know they do but so far I hadn’t come across too many spoilers. Was going to binge 2017 and 2018 this weekend. I just finished 2016 and the old moles referenced in that season were vague enough to not be a spoiler because of the white makeup. Thanks for doing subtitles. I can watch those two seasons and maybe enjoy watching for the mole actions now.

@@aaron5865 Fwiw, I grew up near where S17E04 was filmed. I still live nearby and visit fairly often. I found it puzzling when I noticed they filmed a town that's about 70 miles from the closest they ever went to it.
