“Balderdash, my heart is a better compass than your cogs and gears” - brilliant line, oh,to be smitten . . .
Man, there's more art in these 11 minutes than entire movies...
I often play shorts, but this was the first time one of them got my wife's and daughter's attention. They both sat and watched it and enjoyed every bit of it. It was like a modern Mr. Magoo to me. I could imagine a series with the antics of Widdershins as he tries to connect with his love, always comes close but never succeeds. We would watch every episode rooting for Widdershins' success. Very well done.

Mr Magoo? You’ve completely missed the message, he wasn’t a blind incoherent imbecile, he was trying to reclaim his humanity that’s been completely taken over by technology. The sequel would more like Terminator wars.

@@johnjordan6032 Mr Magoo was blind but he was not an incoherent imbecile. Everything he said made sense in the context that he was perceiving. I believe his most powerful trait was luck. Lovely! The art was gorgeous! A feast for the eyes. Loved the steampunk style and the rich textures. There seemed to be a little Edward Gorey in there too. Enjoyed the happy ending and the message as well, though I felt a little bad for poor Bertie as I think he was underappreciated. He really did seem to care about his human.

In the mid-1980s, our library had a 16mm film library. One short film was called "A". It was done in pen and ink, very sparse details in the animation. The plot goes as follows. A man comes home to his apartment and while going about his tasks, he is harassed by a large capital letter A. At the end of the film, the A disappears, the man is relieved. But, just as the film fades out, the letter B appears. I would love to find out more about the film. The library has long since gotten rid of its films and doesn't have records of what was in the collection. Thanks!

Mr. Biggs: This just came up on my recommendations... It deserves millions of likes and views! What an absolute delight! I too, Love Miss Caprice, and I adore this film! I would love more of their story, a couple bound by anarchy...
The black and white color choices really underlined the steampunk inspiration for this piece. I enjoyed it immensely!
Brilliant! I loved everything about this piece - the artwork (especially being in monochrome), the 'world' that had been created, the characters... I really liked the suspense at the end where we think our character has decided 'enough' and steps out into the void. Thank you for allowing us to share in this wonderful experience.
I agree, this screams steampunk, or "Sherlock Holmes meets the Fifth Element". I loved this short for a few reasons, definitely faving it.
Very funny with cute romantic ending. Reminded me of Wallace & Grommit with the mechanical dressing.

I love it! In a perfect world, what would there be to ignite your heart, your passion? We need a bit of imperfect to show us that we are still alive! We need to know there is something worth getting a black eye, and falling into the refuse bin for. That’s what makes our lives interesting. A perfect world would be boring and become, as our protagonist demonstrates, no excitement, no awe inspiring events.
@joeytofil2259

Exactly, it would be a world at baseline, all the time. Joy and pain cannot exist without one another in the same reality. It's only called Day because Night also exists. I think Berty did care for him and wish him to be happy, he realizes that that woman is unpredictable and potentially dangerous, and values freedom at the expense of safety. He doesn't realize, however, that that's what makes life exciting!

Bardzo zaciekawił mnie ten filmik. Był krótki, ale pełen wymownej treści. Uwielbiam filmy fantasy, sf i bajki. Miłość dodaje życiu kolorów i ciekawych wrażeń. Wiara czyni cuda. Świetny zespół filmowy. Ewa Ewa Ewa
