Thanks for posting this. Nice memories of Wichita from around 1970. They should make a new video updated with today's Wichita.

Nice shots of Republic F-105 "Thunderchiefs" flying overhead at 19:54 (we lost a lot of those in Vietnam). I wish a shot of the long-gone Derby Refining Co., oil refinery (along I-35) was shown. Thanks for sharing!

How cool! My mom was from Wichita and my grandparents house was near Twin Lakes shopping center on Garland. It was a beautiful neighborhood although haven't been there in years.

What a fun to watch time capsule this is! I was going to college at Wichita State about this same time.

I’ll guarantee our intrepid sight seeing couple have probably passed by now. This was 53 years ago. I was in high school at this time. Brings back slot of memories.

The Chamber of Commerce should definitely do a 2023 update, but they should open up with "Since our last video, you'll notice we've made a few changes over the years. Our greatest accomplishment? Kellogg has been COMPLETED!"

@@rockinrobin7105 Rockin Robin was my moms favorite song. 😊 Yeah, processed foods weren’t embraced as much back then and were considered more like treats. Today people eat (especially fast food) on a daily basis. Drive thru are on every corner and the lines are always packed. No wonder everyone is thick.

    1. The cost of clothing is outrageous! As a man looking for a couple of new 3-piece suits myself, it's comical bordering on criminal the cost how much it'll cost me. Also, don't get me started on the dry cleaning; 2. As someone said, processed foods got us all. Even as a kid in the eighties, ingredients in foods were more authentic and less processed, but as time went on more and more foods fell into the artificial trap. Also, processed food is incredibly cheap. We don't MOVE as much as we used to. Sure the '70s and '80s had plenty of leisure, but even in leisure, we moved around A LOT - dancing, roller rinks, strolls through the park, the MALL, neighborhood kickball games, I can go on!

Yeah! Back when Wichita was trying to be something. The “Little KC.” Downtown is coming back, finally. It’s funny that the new plan calls for them to tear down two buildings featured here.

yea, crime was low, people raised their families and most tried to be good neighbors...horribly boring...I'll take that all day compared to the filth and perversion that's common place now.
