A Wisconsin man stands trial for allegedly murdering and dismembering his parents without remorse, and providing false information on their disappearances. Chandler Michael Halderson, 23, faces charges including first-degree intentional homicide. Remains from his father Bart Halderson, 50, and mother Krista Halderson, 53, were found days apart, authorities said.
Defendant Halderson reported his parents missing July 7th, claiming they left their home in the Village of Windsor days before on the 1st. He told WISC-TV at the time that they were going to the village of White Lake, Wisconsin.
“My last message I got from them, they were going to White Lake for the Fourth of July,” he told “There are some festivities that go around there. Better drink prices at the bars. Stuff like that.”
He said that to his knowledge, they were then going to their cabin in Langlade County.
“Along the way, they could’ve stopped many places,” he said. “I wouldn’t know all of them.”
He was allegedly just feeding everyone lies.
Bart’s torso was found in rural Dane County, while remains from Krista were found in Sauk County and property run by the Department of Natural Resources, according to court documents obtained by The Wisconsin State Journal.
Their son had been searching Google for terms like “Body found Wisconsin,” “Woman’s body found in Wisconsin,” “Wisconsin dismembered body found,” and “Dead body found in Wisconsin,” authorities said. Investigators suggested Chandler Halderson used to a visit to property belonging to the partner of his girlfriend’s mother as cover to hide his father’s torso nearby. He had shot Bart Halderson at least once before dismembering him, officials said.
According to investigators, Halderson said after his arrest that “you don’t know the whole story,” and that he “didn’t feel bad about what I did.”

Dude, imagine working at a call center, and somebody calls you and they're a bit standoffish at first, but overall it's just like any other call. You go home and forget about it, but then sometime later you're called in to answer questions/give testimony because that guy you were on the phone with was murdered and dismembered by his son, over the content of the phone call you had with him. Like, how do you even feel about that?

Yeah. 😳 That's what I was also thinking.Chandlers crimes are also really hard to stomach and grusome, so to gather in such circumstances, knowing that you (as Omar) were just trying to do your job at call center, working hard every day, and this one day the man you are talking to was soon murdered by horrible son and your last and only call with the man is the one of the evidence of their sons lies. Oh my god, watching this after just having seen a bit of his brother Mitchell’s testimony is so heartbreaking as in that video Mitchell gave his last name spelling in the exact same way as his dad did here with both of them saying all the letters and then “D as in David” for only that one letter. I’m sure it was unconscious on Mitchell’s part but it makes even more bittersweet that the two gave their last name in the exact same way as it’s really small things like this which show how very close as the two were with Mitchell emulating his father even unconsciously.

I'm sure they could have forgiven him eventually, but would they throw him out 1st? Or worse... let him stay, but take his Xbox, no outside privileges, no girlfriend allowed while making up past classes etc... Funny thing is, after he killed them he went to his gf Cat's to hide the body while Cat was at work. Her parents were there, feeling bad about Chandlers tales of medical probs.... They offered him a place to stay since he "can't do SpaceX" now, paying work on their farm (with no rules like parents would have obvi), and access to a vehicle. If only he had thought of talking to them along BEFORE murder, he wouldn't have needed his parents for anything. Could have just left...

@@Jfkd1989 well, sure, some people would be born with chemical imbalances that may cause them to lack empathy or perhaps have an easier disposition to commit violent acts. However, to suggest people are just born evil with no other contributing factors is highly dismissive. I recommend you look into the TV show Mindhunters - it’s based on a true story of a couple FBI guys that first looked outside the box of “people are born evil”, and considered that there must be other factors that contribute to these violent acts of rage. They started profiling serial killers etc… and at first this was not well received as most people had the same mindset as you have - people are just born evil and that is what it is. But, look how far criminal profiling has come since, and how integral it is to catching criminals or figuring out how their mind works and why. It’s very interesting. I recommend you do some research. Also, small example here: My parents divorced when I was young. All of my siblings were affected by this and went on to do hard drugs and commit crime. They lived with my father who was abusive. I lived with my mother who was loving and nurturing. I have never committed any crimes. See the difference?

It’s really heartbreaking. Bart doesn’t think his son could be lying or he doesn’t want to believe it. Chandler like so many psychopaths before him are incredibly well at portraying normal and not to ruffle any feathers. To be this seemingly normal guy who couldn’t keep his secrets anymore so he killed his own sweet parents just to make himself look good. He thought he was going to lie his way thru or that his parents wouldn’t be found I guess because the aftermath of these huge crimes always gets these guys caught… if the police are competent he had like a week maybe less of freedom left after the crimes. How is that worth doing this?! Bart never thought his own son could shoot him in the back so how many more of us are sitting next to monsters who just aren’t at risk of having their secrets found out yet?! Horrifying really

If you fail a test, don’t make the team or whatever it is I can help you as long as I kno what’s going on. And when they mess up they got to take responsibility for it. Same way I do. Mr Jobe was very professional, patient and kind with Bart Halderson, a man he never met, but unwittingly crossed paths with just once, through that fateful telephone conversation. It must have been so shocking when he later learned from police the background and significance of that seemingly mundane phone call. We can all be guilty of introspection, and not having time or patience for other people. But I agree, none of us knows the secret sorrows another human being carries on their back. In all our human encounters, however brief, we should strive to be kind. We may never meet that person again. Who knows, our interaction could happen on the last day of their, or our life, as was tragically the case here. Rest easy now in blissful peace, Bart and Krista. Another comment regarding lack of reactions from Chaz : in court, one must behave accordingly or else you're in contempt. So I guess his lawyer told him to be silent and hope for the best. The strategy as I see it was to see if he left enough evidence behind to ensure he's caught or there is reasonable doubt. In the end, he did leave too much behind.

For everyone commenting about his lack of reactions : what do you expect to happen ? Chaz starting to cry and outburst ? Be angry , revolted ? No, there's no reason for that. He knows he's guilty. He knows the evidence is damning. He's already accepted he will die in prison. Im sure he's not even mentally there in this trial. He's spaced out and thinks about how his future will be like and how to cope.
