This was so helpful, now I know I have options. I am on the internet a couple hours a day but my home internet cost keeps rising and I have unlimited data and 15gb hotspot I really would and need to cut the cable...maybe one of these can help me with that....THANK YOU!

I was able to use my phone to connect to my desktop via a tether cord. So thank you for that. Still wondering about tethering to my smart tv.

You just go park in a wal-mart parking lot, or starbucks, you'll be fine.

Wifi is a term used to describe a wireless LAN (local area network) the term is not synonymous with internet access. However this is how you have chose to use the term. Anyone can set up a wifi router and connect to local devices on that network simply by paying for the router one time device fee. Pay for the internet service and connect it to the router and you have “internet service" or internet connectivity through the Wifi or the Ethernet port connection or however you like please note your misnomer to avoid confusion

I have to connect security cameras they have battery but need wifi for some reason. I dont think Hotspot would work. I think it has to be continuous. Gosh this is all so complicated. So the LAN would work for me bc I dont need internet?

If I can find a way to ditch Verizon and Xfinity I’m all ears. I just got tricked off of my cell Data package thinking it would save me money but it went up $20 (and they won’t switch me back) and same goes for my WiFi with Xfinity. These two companies are not on my happy list. I am also paying for basic cable I don’t even use just to get WiFi. Thanks for your tips.

Back in 2013 there was this service called clear wire internet all you needed was to buy the wireless plugin modem sit in the window for better connection then run the Ethernet wire from modem to laptop or desktop call the service number to activate for $50 a month that was the best wifi service I ever had I could anywhere with that modem in the US and have internet then sprint bought them out and it went to shit. It's still around nobody uses it though. Other countries have home wireless service no wires needed but the US all about greed so we don't get it. Internet services will tell you they don't do wireless internet if you ask for it but they have ability to if they wanted.

I have the wrong Comcast tier to take advantage of their Wi Fi. That really stinks. What I said turned out to be not correct despite my Comcast tier TV package. I'm not sure how I started getting Xfinity free Wi Fi on my phone but I think I entered the password on the bottom of modem. I can now get Wi Fi on my laptop as well. So I'm really happy about it. I use the Walmart free Wi Fi when I'm shopping. So what data I have used is still the same as when I started using Wi Fi for this month though I have 3 GBs of data each month. So far for this month I've only used 5.94 MB of data and I don't have to worry about running over anymore.

My older sister doesn’t have a phone line or internet Will this modem router work for her so she can use her iPhone or iPad that my mother got her. She only uses her iPhone when she goes to work. I am going to be buying her the device so she can read or watch the Netflix I’ve provided for her to have.

It would be easier to use the iPhone directly if she's already using that device. Load data directly on the phone, so there's no need for a router. If she wants to use the iPad, she can use the iPhone as a mobile hotspot.

Can this device be strong enough for gaming?

I'm at a state park campground, there is no wifi service and no T_mobile cell service except thru a 3rd party "Partner". Although I have 80gig of "hotspot" available thru T-Mobile but not thru the Partner so I get thrilled down after using just 1gig of hotspot. The nearest T-Mobile tower is 85 miles away so can't use a high power cell phone antenna. Is there a internet wifi solution?

Thanks for the info I'm going to give it a go I live in Northern Ireland and those Virgin Media customer people are worse that the Paramilitarys running our local streets I would go even so far say they are 100 times worse over the last month my daughter has had money taken from her account ' This was un-authorised so the bank gave it back" they have constantly lied to me and on one occasion verbally abused me over the phone as I was unwilling to pay the bill as when I took out the GIG 1 package I was guaranteed the HUB 5 then of course on install day no Hub 5 and a lot of crap about having them in the van and he couldn't scan one to allocate one to the account. Well Sorry for the rant but I hate Virgin that much its not healthy So Again thanks for the info on how to get rid of them I will let you know how I got on PS Defo sorry about the rant lol

Some places have WiFi for free that u can go to like some restaurants or library at least you have something to look up for things that you really need wish u a lot of blessings and pray you fine a nice home God bless you 🙏😉

Go to Starbucks,Walmart,Walgreens,fry’s Almost every place has free Wi-Fi … while there download as much as possible so you will have entertainment later when no Wi-Fi access Hopefully things get better quickly for your family and you haven’t been there to long

Damn that sucks yeah you have to pay a isp or you could always just go offline, most things become useless without the internet for example a pc, or you could go to a library or a fast food place for internet still better to he offline than having to waste money just to use the internet.

I don't really find this helpful enough for me but by using thunder vpn I can have free WiFi without paying there is no one in this entire youtube have solved my problem coz I can't use thunder all the time seems like it's only the option

Techies have keen knowledge of their subject matter. Those of us who are newbies need a glossary for reference LOL!! Or a "Foundations in Tecnical Terms 101" class 😉 Good idea to get subtitles, pause and think about what was said. Watching this bc the big $$$ monopoly carriers, are ripping the consumer off!!

I came to the conclusion that if you don't live in a place where you can tap into somebody else's connection, then no. I live in a somewhat remote area and my phone company takes full advantage of this. They charge a high rate for the cheapest internet connection on top of the land line service I never even use. Mobile data is my only choice but I can only use one phone with that and nothing else.

My self TD Source link too all see its programs you pay too get not web or internet others. as my self must approved any and all programs and any links both sides locked out ! This funds are locked ! This is why this stops all crimes ! This why all re started wiped all on any Tonight ! Only LTD as locked funds from the start this all beat your self's

This is terrible advice. Never connect to public wifi. VPNs wont help you.
