Even though every comment I've left in this comment section will go unheard, and there's a gazorbo amount of people who are now going to fuck their dogs up ... I wouldn't have been comfortable with myself without knowing I tried to correctly educate At least one person. Again pointless, but he's wrong.. I used to live in mesa arizona where the temperature would reach almost 120 degrees and if you are not wearing shoes will end up getting 3rd degree burns very quick. I know i had to go to the hospital once because i was running after my chihuahua on the asphalt and my feet were blistered and bleeding and my dogs feet were too but in the end we put up a wood fence and never went outside without sandals on ever again.

for anyone unaware: a foolproof way to tell if your dog will burn their paws on the concrete is to put the back of your hand on the concrete and test the temperature! if it burns the back of your hand, it’ll burn your puppy’s little toes and you need to get them shoes. it wouldn’t be an immediate burn, but extended periods of time of their bare paws on hot pavement will lead to pain/blistering/etc. for your pup, so prevention is important. (and the opposite is true as well! in snow, ALWAYS have booties on your dog to avoid frostbite, and in cold weather, make sure it doesn’t sting to touch the ground with your bare skin!)

I live in Arizona and I will say that while it definitely won’t melt your shoes like in the clip, I have had my platform shoes melt while walking on the sidewalk to the point where they lose and inch or two in height but it was over the corse of multiple days and not all at once. Arizona’s temperature does get hot enough to do so as well as melt street signs paint though, so it is possible but definitely not enough for your entire shoe

One thing I will say is sometimes in Arizona the road itself doesn’t exactly melt but it softens, and warnings are usually issued to drive as minimally as possible because you may get tar stuck on your tires which can damage them. I’m speaking from experience of living in the Sonoran desert, I also used to pick apart the road whenever it happened.

I made a similar comment - poor quality control on the asphalt mix, or inappropriate mixtures for conditions can have this result also. Hotter parts of the world require different mixtures and technique/equipment to properly surface a road

@@SuLokifyIt’s baffling to me that we see these problems in the US’s deserts but not in desert countries. Everything needs to be difference, even the material used to make the homes. They’re able to live in hot weather without the need for AC. Meanwhile every time I visited a friend in Arizona the apartment complex had theirs on blast 24/7. We have the knowledge and the resources to make this better

Lived in Arizona almost my entire life and knew that the melting was bs.. but for sure you can cook a cracked egg on the asphalt. I have walked barefoot out to take trash which was only 7 steps away from the door in the summer and let me tell you. Its like putting your foot into a hot skillet.

I live in AZ and grew up in the Mojave desert. When it gets hot enough, the tar in the roads liquifies slightly and will transfer to your shoes. Big trucks also put massive divots in the roads at intersections after a while.

I drove trucks, and I live in Texas. I definitely don’t think that any roads in Earth get that hot to the point where walking would melt a shoe or burn you. Arizona is = to Texas. We don’t have that, so Arizona don’t either.

Coming from Phoenix, yes the pavement ACTIALLY gets that hot on 120+ F degree days. My friend had his electric scooter parked on asphalt (black pavement) and the rubber literally was melting off as he rode it (not like melt melt but literally leaving a trail) it do get that hot.
