I use a 30.06 auto for my home defense… you know, just in case the bad guy is hiding behind a refrigerator at the neighbors house..

The government told me not to use ar15 for home defense because it was too powerful. It will destroy the next train station outside our state, so I switched to 338 lapua.

In canada we are allowed nerf guns for home defence as well as rotten tomatos.

Should probably rephrase that… “why you shouldn’t use rifle power FMJs for home defense…”

If he thinks .45 ACP is kid friendly, fat, slow, and useless I'd definitely never listen to his advice about firearms

He’s right, .223 is too light and fast. You need the ol’ reliable 75 caliber musket ball.

The best caliber for home defense is the one you have available. If I'm gonna be in a gun fight, best that I also have a gun.

For home defense remember these 3 things:

When you said fat and slow, I could’ve swore your recommendation was gonna be to call the cops.

Your testing method is suspect, and your conclusion is wrong due to it. My department set up a shoot box where we could build multiple walls inside an 8" section, with 2x4s and drywall. You know, the way walls are actually made. Not just stacking 2x4s on top of each other. The 5.56 round went through 3 walls. EVERY pistol round we shot, .38, .357, 9mm, .40S&W, and .45 blew through the entire shoot box. The hollow point filled up with gypsum, turned the round into a ball round, and it didn't stop until it ran out of momentum. You really should educate yourself before you give dangerous advice like this.

A man who actually has used his firearms once said “Pistols put holes in people. Rifles put holes through people. Shotguns, the right load at the right range will physically remove a chunk from your opponent and throw it on the floor behind him, and you will have to get someone to come clean it up with a shovel.”

The FBI did indoor penetration tests, and found that the 64gr soft point 5.56 will not over penetrate.
