I like how you trimmed; trimming the minimum and going in and trimming more as needed. Many would do an actual cut from the start and call it a trim. And though it would look even, they wouldn’t have gotten the splits up the shaft. Also, the education you gave is excellent. ❤ Your daughter is beautiful. She looks like she has a sweet personality. 💕

What’s the best thing to use to eliminate frizz? Or what’s a reasonable shampoo and conditioner to use before a silk press?
@StudioTechilo
2 ай бұрын
I avoid using any products before using flat irons to prevent frizz. I've found that straightening hair on completely clean hair reduces damage. It's like how the heat penetrates clothes better with starch compared to when nothing is on them; it's the same concept for hair. Ensuring your hair is hydrated at the shampoo bowl, trimming your ends, and using proper silk press techniques can sometimes help with frizz. However, depending on your hair texture, some frizz may still be inevitable.

Same to you babe.
Yours daughter's hair is gorgeously!My daughters hair was very long at 5yrs old-past her shoulders, so I had to blow dry it on wash days. She lived it. I didn't use straighteners until she was older. I didn't want her to experience the tangles that I had when my mom tried to do my hair. In the UK in London, we live in a hard water area, so that wasn't helpful. She had lots of moisturising treatments to prevent drying out.
@StudioTechilo
2 ай бұрын
Yes, that’s the way to go. I’m sure her hair is long and healthy now. I know some people who live in areas with hard water would buy jugs of distilled water and use that to wash their hair.

Beautiful girl just like her momma😍! I have a question, why not trim more and get rid of all split ends? You’ve mentioned that you will do another trim later this year, is it the reason? I’m thinking it might be best to get rid of most of them to avoid split ends up the hair shaft.
@StudioTechilo
2 ай бұрын
You're right, removing it would prevent further damage. As I trimmed her hair, I ended up going deeper and cutting more. It was noticeably thicker at the end of her trim. Additionally, when I cut more, her ends tend to unravel more in her braided hairstyle, which isn't my favorite. It’s also varies for each child. Her hair is not as tight and I’m really careful detangling her and styling her hair. My second child’s hair is much thicker and more coarse so I have to approach her hair differently which would be deeper trims for her when needed.

Ive never used heat on my daughters hair, shes 4. i usually keep her hair in braids during the winter and in the spring / summer months, her hair is curly. I just try to keep her ends moisturized. If i were to switch her routine around, how often would you say i should do this method?
@StudioTechilo
2 ай бұрын
If her hair is on the finer side being that she’s 4 I would just blow dry it and give her a good trim without straightening. But if she has thicker coarser hair at 4 Putting a little heat on her hair once a year or every six months with a good trim will make it more manageable.
You're daughters hair is so beautiful! I have a hard time with the washing and detangling. No matter what I wash my daughters hair with, it tangles and it is so hard to blow dry it as well. Any advice on shampoo and detangling
@StudioTechilo
2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much. It’s more than likely because her ends are damaged. Trimming the ends makes a huge difference in detangling, regardless of their natural texture. Make sure you're using the right shears for hair. Detangle small finger-length sections while wet, and trim the sections where you see fit. If you trim enough I promise you’ll see a huge difference. Also don’t feel obligated to trim it all off at one time if it’s a lot. You can slowly rid the bad ends by doing it every month or so, the process will be longer but it gets better each trim. Hope this helps

@@StudioTechilo you're welcome!! I do need to get a better pair of shears. I never knew how cutting with regular scissors could mess up your hair. What shampoo and conditioner would you recommend I use.
@StudioTechilo
2 ай бұрын
@dwanwilliams2473 using the wrong shears will cut split ends right back into your hair. So you’re loosing the length from the trim and still have split ends. Any type of hydrating shampoo and conditioner. I would also recommend using a clarifying to get all the product buildup that we use on our kids hair to preserve their style. We have all of those products available on our site. Check it out www.studiotechilo.com/products

I have thick, long, coarse, kinky natural hair, and I used to dread wash day. I tried various shampoos and conditioners and none detangled my hair easily. I read a Nexxus ad in a magazine, so decided to try it and it's the best I've tried so far. Prior to trying it, I'd tried Shea Conditioner (in a brown plastic jar) and my hair became so tangled, I had to literally tear out the knots with a wide tooth comb. The experience was so bad, I left a negative review online. Maybe it, and all the others would have worked if I had relaxed hair. Nexxus costs a bit more. and I wish it was a black-owned company, but I no longer procrastinate when it's time to wash my hair. The shampoo is in a silver gray bottle (Advanced Therappe) and the conditioner in a white bottle (Advanced Humectress). If you decide to try it, let me know, if you can , if it also worked for your daughters.

How do you maintain her hair for the 2 weeks?
@StudioTechilo
Ай бұрын
I but it in a top knot and tie it down nightly. After a couple of days it get oily and take more to revert back.
I daughter is 4. She has fine, thin, curly 4a-ish hair. Her hair on top feels rougher and is shorter than her her on the bottom close to her neck. Should I wait and see if it balances out or should she get a big chop? She wears braids and beads
@StudioTechilo
2 ай бұрын
This is normal for kids in that age range. I wouldn't recommend a big chop for a 4yo. Instead, try blow drying her hair and trimming 1 inch off before braiding it. You can repeat this every 2 months until you notice it evening out. Tensions could be the cause of the front being much shorter so be aware of that. Also Avoid beads as they often require rubber bands, which can be damaging. Try braiding and curling the ends with your fingers and products to avoid using rubber bands. Hope this helps
@growinginabundance3703

@@StudioTechilo thanks for your response. I will trim and eliminate beads as you suggested. Many blessing to you and your family ❤️❤️❤️
I have a 10 year old ive never trimmed her hair its shoulder length and sheads where do i start
@StudioTechilo
2 ай бұрын
Trim, trim, trim is where you start. Depending on how bad it is If she’s in protective styles mostly then you can slowly trim and 1” to 2” every 6 to 8 weeks. If it’s really bad I would cut at minimum half of the damage ends and work my way up from there every 6 to 8 weeks. Don’t feel obligated to do it all at once. Come up with a plan and stick to it. In a year you’ll see a complete difference. Less shedding and easier to maintain and detangle. Good luck
How would you go about trimming a little boy's hair that does not get straightened?
