Halogen and Incandescent, because my eyes are very sensitive to flickering. But since i am not a millionaire, i cant spend all my money on electricity cost, so i only have that in my bedroom, because i spend most of my time there. The rest of the house is LED. LED is a great technology, but most time they put cheap shit electronics into the bulbs so it flickers and last even less than 1000 hours. Also often LED bulbs are cold white coloured, and thats also bad for sensitive eyes.

@@mernokallat645 You made an excellent point! Disposable LED fixtures, no standardization. Fluorescent tubes excelled at that: easily replaceable with no size (therefore) temperature and design constraints for the ballasts. Apart from LED strips with standalone drivers, all LED bulbs and fixtures are disposable, end their efficiency is overrated by conviniently ignoring driver AND cable (really low voltage after all) losses. All I see in this movement is regulators patronizing us like small children, while forcing us to pay up and replace our gear. Instead of focusing on recycling. My oldest T8 tube with its bulky heavy choke has been in operation for nearly 25 years...outdoors!

@@foreigncontaminant2015 There is a neon sign in the US that was switched on continuously for 77 years. Discharge lamps can outlive LEDs. Some collectors have 120+ year old Geissler tubes that still work. And the best property of fluorescent lamps is that even after the electrodes are worn, some HF electronic ballasts output a high enough voltage to operate them. They can also be operated as electrodeless lamps by inductive and/or capacitive coupling. They also make great decoration near plasma gblobes/columns and Tesla coils.

This video is just greenwashing. LED marketers always try to compare the savings to incandescent. For example an 8w LED replaces a 60w incandescent. But and 8w LED replaces a 13w CFL? They don't talk about that. For the most part, idiots dumb enough to replace working CFL bulbs with LED is just how the market works. The economy does from glass to plastic. And plastic is known to be the biggest polluter.

This got me interested as I recently came across some CFL bulbs at my relatives who are moving and wanted to get rid of so I started using then at my home and figured I'll just switch back to LED when they burn out. Looking online it appears the UV factor isn't a concern and especially when you're 30cm or more away and plus my lights are also covered with a frosted cover so there should be no health concerns from UV and none from mercury as long the bulb glass doesn't break of course. Is that correct from what you heard too?

Many of the points made against CFLs in this article are true, however one assertion is completely wrong. The author stated that CFLs dissipate about 80% of their input energy as heat - that's complete rubbish. The efficiency of CFLs is actually quite close to that of LEDs - not quite as good, but close. I happen to prefer the light produced by CFLs to that of LEDS - I always go for Warm White CFLs. I am mindful of the mercury content, but some of the negatives were a bit overstated. We all have used the original long format fluorescent tubes, and they are still widely used to light large spaces - eg supermarkets etc. These are nice and efficient - about the same as CFL and LED, but are much more practical than LED for large spaces. With modern "electronic ballasts" (instant start - no flashing), the old style fluoro tubes still have quite a healthy life ahead of them. You will probably have noticed that old style fluoro tubes have a very long lifespan - even longer and more efficient if you upgrade your fittings to electronic ballasts. Cheers John
