We helped our neighbor for years and let her beat and bang on our door all hours of the day and night wanting this, that or the other. We created a monster. At first, she was nice about it and when she thought she could treat us any way she wanted to she then demanded we do things for her. Wander around on our property, threaten us, etc. We finally told her we contacted the sheriff's department and lawyer's office and she finally left us alone. She is not allowed on our property let alone in our home. Being too nice definitely has its consequences. I've noticed a pattern, if you're not very friendly to people they respect you a lot more. The nicer you are to people and the more you do for them the less respect they have for you. Bizarre. You'd think it'd be the opposite. I've quit doing favors for people because it only opens the door for abuse.

These things have all happened to me... I hope others can learn this without suffering, but now I understand that some of our paths flow there for reasons 🙏

Thank you. I have read a-lot of books on Buddhist practice- and core beliefs, boundaries, kindness being reciprocated, others perceptions of us being trustworthy has not been addressed at all? What I have read is more about accepting and understanding others bad seeds, interbeing, perceptions are mental formations and are to be viewed as changeable and based on historical memories. Also, kindness and an open heart being given freely without any expectations of anything in return.
