They are actually very capable and competitive race quads, when properly setup. Most race then in the utility class.

dude just sucks at racing quads
Nice start! Thats what these things were designed for. Leave it in gear, pull the brake, start it and take TF off! Hare scrambles, etc. I've owned mine since 2003 when it first came out. 2004 Limited Edition, Matrix Carbon Fiber, Kawasaki KFX 700 Vforce. Still runs great. Muzzy exhaust and some other minor mods. +3 rear axle and matching offset front rims. I wish they would make a 800 or 1000 KFX with fuel injection. I'd buy it right now! LOL
That quad was amazing at off road xc type racing. 22” rear tires, no rear disc brake to hang up like other sport quads, automatic with reverse! Heavy and limited to suspension but the raw power was awesome.
You don’t seem like you’re throwing your weight around at all in the corners. These things are heavy, you have to manhandle them to go fast. You’re getting tossed around like a ragdoll out there. Also, throw on some good headlocks and a decent suspension before you say never to race it.
I loved the one I had, just poor mileage/range for the fuel tank size.
Dude idc what anyone says you killed it on the 700 that’s a huge quads to run up against 450’s and you freaking killed it keep doing your thing brother 💪🏼💯

@@justindowney801 yeah … in a straight line lmao not in a race with multiple skill based riders who are riding machines a lot lighter then yours.
Most factory components aren't designed for the abuse woods racing puts them thru. I raced one of these on the GNCC circuit full time years ago. Definitely switch to a carbon fiber wheel w/beadlocks. HiPer makes some. Switch out your shocks. I know Custom Axis still makes some for it and so does Elka. Elka is a little more cost effective. Both are tunable to your liking and can even bring the ride height down.. I would look for some aftermarket handlebars too. A good set of bars are stronger and shaped differently to give u a little more leverage in turning. Flexx are probably the best but they will be a little pricey. But even a Renthal or Tag bar would be improvement over factory. It also looks like you're racing in Florida. Florida's soil, even in the center of the state is very sandy, switch your factory air system to a foam filter to keep that sand out of your engine. Twin-Air used to make those. And of course if u want a little more pep, a full factory exhaust system is always nice. But for racing, definitely change wheels, shocks, and air filter. Best of luck.
At the end of the day it's just heavier then the competition and is more of a utility quad.
You did good for a first time racer. The 700 looked stock. Don't give up on her unless you can afford a real sport quad. You where probably racing against bored out and modified 450's in the open class.
With some good suspension changes and losing alittle weight on the KFX it would handling abit better… but yeah the weight and lack of good suspension just can’t make it as easy of a ride…
it's not the 700, it's the driver of the 700 LMFAO
The quad can race but u can't drive
This is a rough watch. You're not powering corners at all. The 700 has enough power that you should over throttle and knock the tires loose to turn, not slow down. This should have been easy against a bunch of 450s on this type of race.
Dude I've owned a KFX 700 since 05 and bash the shit out of it on Alaskan trails without any issue....you biffed it hard, shit luck but dont blame the machine, especially when you're racing on stock rims. You were also being super impatient when racing for 3d on what looked like the 1st lap....I'm going with rider error more than equipment failure.

They benefit from elka suspension

Yeah I thought so as well.A different rider a different result.
Think you need ELk suspension and bead lock rims
on a trail race give me a kfx evety time
Doug eichner of Duncan racing proved you can race a kfx700
Well aren't they just a brute force with some sporty plastics? They are honestly just a lazy man's big bore quad. Not hating them, I actually like them and have seen some of my friends get alot of hate from raptor owners at ATV Parks for even owning one. But hell everyone in the damn brother has a raptor or a fucking yfz450r. Them 2 are the mustangs of the quad world.

For sure! Not having to shift takes the fun out of riding for me with the KFX. I’ve never been into Yamaha quads but I know MANY people who are. I’ve rode Honda for most my life and that’s what i would prefer to stick to. Hopefully I get my TRX450 running before the next race
Just to be different and not win but to compete I would've taken my 05 scrambler 500
You just need Beadlocks I raced my kfx 700 all year this year in utility class kept with all of them got first place 8 out of 10 times
I got a kfx 700 n I can say that they can handle n got power but this was just a very bad driver on the turns n very impatient needs better handling but good nothing bad happend
Kawi stock fronts are sooo soft I bent both front before I switched to dwt beadlocks

Extremely soft…. I even bent the frame on that crash
Nice the kfx would of came in 2nd if that accident didn’t happen

💯 I’m looking to place next race. Just need to ride a little smarter
you need to spend good money on suspension
It wasn't the bike's fault. Rider's fault all the way. I have the same bike and never had any problems like this.
KFX 700 wasn’t built for racing!!
You could've gotten first with that bike
i miss my 700 i neglected it drove the shit out of it and ruined it r.i.p
