I think mine last year was hidden too long by competitors. It grew 6+’ and no flowers and thought it was a broadleaf weed and almost pulled it. Just before frost it popped a flower at the top 😂. We feed the hummers sugar water as there are few blooms when they arrive. I will say it’s work to keep the feeders clean and that there is a timing of when to start and stop. Many feed too late in the season and they stay too long. And on the other side in the south I think they keep them there too long by feeding and they have flowers blooming. What I have observed is the hummers visit less frequently as flowers bloom. Saving seed is so fun! I have to have containers at the ready though. What happens is I pluck them off and lay them in a dish thinking I will know or remember what they are. This winter sow I threw in some seed that looked like dust laying in one of those dishes, but I knew they were special if they were indeed seed. They were Spilanthes/eyeball plant/toothache plant. They all came up! It is an interesting looking bloom and I’m sure the deer and rabbits wouldn’t eat them unless they like a numb mouth 😅.

@@ourbackyardgardenSearch Engine Optimization. It’s so when someone searches on Google it will pop up in the top of the list. I’m sure FJ would know.
