Master Samery, first congratulations on your pregnancy! Becoming a parent is a special thing and we definitely need more good parents in the world. Second, thank you for the video. I always find them refreshing and motivating.

Toxic instructors destroyed all motivation for me. I am a 3rd degree black belt in karate and thought i would never quit and now have no interest in ever going, even after changing schools.

Great video. I am not tired of training, but very demotivated to stretch, cause since like a year or so, I don't see any progress at all anymore which is completely frustrating

As an adult... life gets in the way. Also, too many schools cater to kids and pay lip-service to "adult" classes. Now being in my 50's injuries are more common.

I started at 40, after my kids were doing (one is almost BB). It is not easy to keep going. A GREAT coach helps, one that really motivates you and see the best on you. Family members also help. Overall, you have to do because you love to do it. Do not expect people to clap hands around you. I also got an injury which took me months to come back (of course, they cited my age while the coach himself had the same injury at age 14). Do not give up!

Wow congratulations! you're going to be such a great mom. Thanks for the good advice. I will have to put this into practice to get back into TKD.

During and post-COVID I really lost motivation then family health issues became top priority. Now that those issues subsided after nearly 3 years, I’m setting short my term goal on earning my 2nd Dan by November’24 then training for a local tournament next spring if they’ll allow senior citizens to spar. Great informative video, Master Samy. I needed the idea of variations in my workout schedule.

Not being able to physically perform some techniques gets me frustrated. Being an “older “ TKD student (mid 60s) I find it difficult to perform some kicks etc. Plus dealing with balance and flexibility issues brings on the frustration 😠

I moved area so I had to move schools, 3rd degree blackbelt and they wanted me to retake my grades. I trained myself then I found a club through recommendation who welcomed me with open arms and my grades, then I just transferred into the syllabus

The circle of life! Awesome congrats on pregnancy! Flowing you since the beginning! Yes so many tangibles occur, many don't reach black belt or once a black belt that is it! I'm a fourth going for my Fifth Dan next month. Competing has helped keep me in the drive. Maybe reaching Master. Perhaps

I got my black belt in 2003 but after my 4th child, I stopped training. I never lost the desire to be in martial arts but the motivation just wasn't there because I had gained almost a whole other person in weight by having children. Now I'm 53. I really want to get back into martial arts. I have had several ankle injuries but those healed. Now I deal with knees issues. Any advice for older students on how to modify training and get their most out of it? Thanks. ❤

Answering from a comment is impossible to find a solution but suggestions that i can think of are: power training you could be lacking strength by aging, stretching wich i assume you are already doing, eating healthy and enough. For the joints you could look into movementbydavid, he sells ^candy^ for joint pain(called: flexy joints). I have no clue if they work bc i never tried them but other people seem to like it. Goodluck i wish you the best:)

And realising you wont be doing what you were doing 20 years ago is also important wich is fine bc as we age we get different roles and maybe you find peace in taking a more supportive role instead of being the one upfront like coaching or other things that keep you active in the things you love

I feel like I need to lose weight, but it seems to keep tabling or maintaining. Any tips or advice please? I need to lower cholesterol too and may have circulation problems. Tall male, 50, about 225 lbs. My weight fluctuates about 3 pounds either way. Want to loose over 20 lbs. Diet, exercise, advice tips please; Thank you and God bless. ❤🙏
