@@bigthing56 The Vita was BETTER than a PSP....technically speaking. It had some great games, it had a touch screen and back touch pad that were used surprisingly well in a lot of games, it had a second analog stick, and it had a bigger screen. The biggest issues the Vita had were it's crappy marketing (I mean hell, I didn't even realize the Vita was it's own console until a few years ago. I always thought it was just another PSP Go situation). It's dumb proprietary, and expensive memory cards. And the fact the Sony dropped it entirely too soon. Add to all that, that nowadays we have CFW on it. With the Adrenaline app, you pretty much have an entire PSP built into the Vita, home screen XMB, psp plugins, and all. All the games (PSP and PS1), from my understanding and from what I've played, work and run nearly identically to how they ran on an original PSP, except now you can play 'em on a bigger screen. Some games even have plugins to take advantage of the right analog, and the ones that don't, can use a Vita plugin to remap camera movement controls (like using L and R to rotate) to the right analog. There's literally no reason to buy a PSP instead of a Vita in 2023, outside of nostalgia. And to add even more to all of that, with CFW, people are STILL making stuff for the Vita today. Pretty regularly releasing ports of Android games and decomps, making new homebrew apps and plugins, updating existing apps and plugins. Like, the Vita is a REALLY good handheld that just happened to get shafted by Sony.

Nothing is black-and-white in the world there’s always a reason for both sides to be the way they are and if your parents didn’t buy it, I can only assume part of it was because they didn’t think it was necessary, but they at least give you other things that were, this is just my opinion based on my experience in the experience of my family, for all, I know your parents could actually be evil people according to you

Even with all the modern emulation handhelds coming out recently, I still think the PSP Go is the ultimate handheld for emulation. Not only can it do anything from GBA and older, but it runs PS1 games natively and you get the whole catalog of PSP games. It has a gorgeous screen even today, the buttons are just perfect in my opinion, and the analog stick is a pretty nice too. And the PSP Go is so perfectly portable. Yeah that steam deck looks huge. Not exactly my idea of portable. Like, technically it is a handheld....technically. My switch already barely fits into my daily camera bag without a case of any sort. The deck would weigh a lot more and I don't think it would fit at all. I'd have to go up an entire bag size (buy a new 350 dollar camera bag because I only like this particular model) and that would nearly double the cost of the deck for me if I wanted to use it the way I use my switch on my daily commute or while traveling.

Ive been playing games on my psp for well over 10 years now without any problems and it still is a lot of fun. Im very grateful for keeping it as it gives me a strong sense of nostalgia everytime i turn it on. My favorite games which i recommend you to look for are GTA vice city stories and liberty city stories, Assassin's creed bloodlines, God of War Chains of Olympus, Flatout, Tekken 6, Manhunt 2, SSX On tour and theres probably much more i forgot to mention and some i never got chance to play. If you can find a psp in a good condition you should definetly go for it and buy one.
Honestly when I was younger the PSP was the best thing i owned. I successfully homebrewed it and was able to download the game ISO files and was playing some Monster Hunter with some friends. I loved the wireless co-op gaming. Really was ahead of its time. Today Android phones can do the same thing + more but they just dont have the ergonomics of the PSP
That psp was AMAZING for its time. Most People didn’t even know all the stuff it could do. Remote play was so under reported on. With the ps eye on my os3 I could look into my living room while at work.
As a PSP lover, I can confirm that this is one of the channels that actually has sense. I have a PSP 3000, and it is one of the finest gadgets for its generation. I still play on it today.

I had a PSP when I was a teen. This was when web streaming services like KZread were in their infancy and services like Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+ weren't even a thought yet and videos were not easily accessed via portable devices over the web due to them just not having the software capabilities. Yes it served me well as a Gaming Platform but my primary use of it was browsing the internet. It was a basic pocket sized computer. Actually it was the only access to the internet I had. We weren't a family who was able to afford to have a computer. I also used it as a portable media player loading my favorite music onto the Memory Sticks and sometimes a movie file. They were great handhelds that served a lot of uses whereas other handhelds at the time were very basic and solely was gaming only as the best offering.
Had a blast with mine. Also shout-out to the modding and homebrew community for making this thing capable of doing pretty much anything. I even remember just using it as a wireless PC controller for a while because I didn't have one. good stuff
I regret selling my PSP 1000 back in 2014 to 2015. I didn't care about the library till years later, I started looking into the library and realized theres more games that I have never tried. Such an amazing handheld back then ; still is.

@@FABCASTLE WiFi going to hell is the result of modern WiFi standards updating and rendering the protocols the PSP uses obsolete. The only way around that that I have found to work on a consistent basis is to get an Android phone that will allow you to make a hotspot without a password then connect your PSP to it. As for your memory stick not being able to be read, that could be one (or multiple) things between your memory stick and/or the reader itself. Iirc the memory stick reader isn't modular, so replacing one I'd leave as a last-ditch effort (personally I don't like soldering). I recommend testing your slot by getting a microSD to memory stick adapter and sticking it into your PSP to see if it recognizes it. Remember to use a tool like guiconfig to format the microSD to FAT32 so the PSP can at least see it (if it sees this and not your other card then copy all your data over to the new card and try it again).

i got a used ps4pro last year. I dont see much reason to spend over 4 times as much on a new ps5. The system is great, games are still releasing with barely any difference, its still being officiallly supported and the systems library is both vast and good with some of the best games ever made. Best bang for your buck right now no contest.
Still got mine, just need a new batery. The joystick is also a little bent but its alright. Nce video ;)
I remember 8-9 years ago when I got it I was mindblown! I could play computer level games on it! Like God of War, FIFA, some Naruto fighting game. The sound system was clear and loud, way better than even some modern phones. Battery that holds for 5 hours in an intense gaming! Damn even laptops couldn't keep up with that) Oh and it never crashed , like NEVER! In the end it left pretty warm and fun experience. Thanks for rekindling those memories💓
Got a 1000 on release day in 2005. Still have it now, works flawlessly, put some CFW on it a few years back to really unlock its potential. Some of the games are simply outstanding even by todays standards. Great system to pick up and play when you have a bit of spare time.

I have one too, sitting in a drawer collecting dust. As I prefer it's little sister the Vita. Which is what the PSP should have been. Mores the pitty that S0NY never supported these consoles.

@@Ichijoe2112 You are right but the games and the multimedia was way ahead of it time.
This made me go find my old PSP-2001 glad I did as the battery had puffed up on it.
Watching few of the people recommending this in 2022 kinda makes me happy. Owning one back in 2012 reminds me of my friends hurriedly running from school just to play the game Tekken.
Man, I still remember playing on my PSP until the early hours of the morning back in 2007-2011. That was the most fun I've ever had with any console. I still have it with me today, but it doesn't work anymore :(
Great little handheld, I still have mine. The only thing I would change is the analogue stick, great though it is I'd put it at the top of the console face rather than the bottom. Other than that it's great, especially for emulation
I have one still in the box - never opened. I usually buy two of everything. One to be used for fun and the other to maintain resale value. Same with cars - I bought two corvettes - one for daily driving and the other for showcase and resale.
I still have this the only console I still have in 2022. I still love it and originally used it for games, movies, photos and music when I got it in 2004. Although my screen has a massive scratch I still play on it regularly and it runs just as smoothly as originally. Best game console I have owned.

@@lynneldridge7661 thank you for the suggestion. I didn’t really think of it as the scratch isn’t deep and you don’t really see it when actually playing the game. But will have to give it a thought now. 🙏
Its certainly one of the best portable consoles ever made, second only to the gameboy in my opinion. Ive had a slim and lite since new, hacked it last year for ps1 games. It continues to serve me well after more than a decade.
Just bought a rare imported psp from Japan and I’m really happy people are still using the psp
I'm about to get my hands on a pristine psp 3004 next week. I love this thing so much.
I bought a PSP1000 week one, yeah I know I'm old. The 1000 is a real chonker weight wise compared to the 2000, which I picked up because it had the added benefit of being able to plug into the TV via an RCA cable. So you could watch your UMD movies at DVD (well close) quality and you could play your games on a big screen (albeit letter boxed). The 2000 is a bit slippery compared to the 1000 due to its shiny finish but its got a better screen with less blur. The E1000 last model is probably the best for 2022 I'd say, no Wifi chip (but remote play was always poor), rear door for loading UMDs is a bit rubbish too and it doesn't plug into a TV. But its got a better 1000 style rough finish, and a much better screen than any previous models (PSP Go excepted). My son, age 10, regularly games on the E1000 I picked up for him a few years ago. PSP GO is lovely, but ergonomically flawed, screen is amazing, especially for 2009 tech.
psp 2000 and gba sp are my 2 favorite handhelds. cfw really unlock the psp full potential and intended purpose because lets be honest, most kids and even adults couldn't afford all the games and movies. i really wish ebay memory stick pro duo adapter was more sturdy and didnt break every couple of times i remove the flash memory
GREAT OUTRO MA FRIEND!!!
I grew up dirt poor but managed to get a PSP. That thing literally lifted me out of some dark times man. I didn’t have a phone, computer, etc. but I had my PSP and that was a big deal.
Great video. For anyone interested in a new battery that actually works, the Cameron Sino is by far the best. The "new old stock" Sony batteries online are fakes. Just a heads-up.

I probably have a fake one but I found out when my system was not in use for 2 weeks the battery would be completely drained but now that I take the battery out first the battery last for over a month with no power loss so that helps a lot with the battery draining too quickly any ways cheers..
Handhelds hold some of the best gaming experiences to this day, not even going to lie. I'm currently going through my huge NDS/3DS backlog as well as replaying my favorite PSP games! Games like Shin Megami Tensei 4, Devil Survivor Overclocked, the Fire Emblem games just to name a few on the DS/3DS. Jeanne D'Arc, Phantasy Star Portable 1 and 2,Crisis Core, Dissidia or Crimson Gem Saga on PSP. All of these are absolutely fantastic portable gaming experiences that just deserve to be enjoyed.
I loved my PSP. You would have thought companies like Microsoft would have came out with a portable system. With todays tech a modern psp would be awesome.
I absolutely love how my silver psp 2000 looks, I haven't played in a while prolly cause i got a steam deck but i will keep it forever.
This is my favourite handheld. Still haven't tried a Vita, but until then, this is it. The store is closed but we can buy digital games from the PS3 and then access the store through the PSP and download them. 🙂 I had mine moded but now I wanted to try the official thing and bought some great games. There are only digital gems that deserve to be preserved.

Someone walked off with my PSP. I considered getting another one, but I decided to upgrade to a Vita. Does everything the PSP can do and more. Adrenaline homebrew program turns your Vita into a fully functional PSP. You add insane homebrew ports on top of everything (GTA Trilogy, Max Payne, Bully, etc..) and you've got no reason not to pick one up.

I still have my psp 2000( slim) and it still works. Although yesterday I ordered a new battery and charger. Easiest hand held console to hack. Only physical games I have are Socom Fireteam Brave 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Madden 07, And others. I recently ordered another psp slim and in slight new condition for $130 😎👍🏻
I still have my psp street from like 2012 or so and i loved it.
I still got my psp and always on the look out for games which you can always get cheap in charity shops or eBay. Games are still very playable
Hell yeah man. I love the PSP. I think they definitely need to do a 2022 version of the PSP
The PSP was definitely ahead of its time, and some of those games are STILL better than a lot of mobile games for Android or iOS. For example, Fight Night Round 3 on the PPSSPP emulator is by far the best boxing game you're gonna play on an Android unless you're using a cloud gaming service like Stadia or GeForce Now.
My favorite thing bout the PSP was the fact of custom home brew. Always enjoyed playing Nintendo games on it since I didn’t have my DS anymore. Man, fun times
Nice outro!
I had both the PSP and the DS. The DS was okay but I didn’t really care for it all that much. The PSP however was a game changer. I didn’t even care to play on the console until the ps3 was released a year later but before then I lived on the psp. Not just playing games but you legit browse the internet, go on KZread, download music, it was a little handheld computer and what smartphones are today.
That intro heat🔥🔥🔥
I still have my PSP-1000 that I bought when it was first released. Battery is dead but still works with the supplied AC adapter.
Indeed it was one of the best for me, it really had many good things, hope they would make a newer version in 2022. As I remember I could also play games from ps1 but really with a nice emulator you can even make your phone a PSP. It will not be the same plus you will have less games to play but the option is there.
Finally new video :D
PSP and PS Vita are my favorite handheld consoles. It's nostalgic and such a great system. Both of their library games are amazing and very enjoyable. Sorry for my english :)

Still have mine from day one of release, it’s something I don’t think I’ll ever sell, I still remember as a kid saving all my pocket money to get it..
I still have my 1000 today and occasionally get it out to mess around with. Loving the ability to emulate older systems. Having most famous games from the Playstation on the go is legendary!
Remember playing the absolute crap out of a PSP when I finally got one in 2007. By that point custom firmwares and ROMS were a thing, I had a huge library of games and movies and such. Honestly wish Sony would bring back the PSP I'd buy one it was the switch before the switch

I got one back in 2010 until today it still work. What a game
Man, watching this vid made me wanna dig out my PSP from my closet. I still have the UMDs!
So glad it is still appreciated, Japan do wonders with refurbished tech so if you’re looking for one they never disappoint. As much I adore my 2003 series the e1000 allows for thousands of games to be played on the go. Bring back this tech, nostalgia.
