Your points are always wonderfully thought out and articulated. And you're totally right! Your bit about a label being comfortable and helpful when you're young but evolving into something that suffocates you was oof. Big relatable and something I wish I could have heard when I was younger (I revolved my identity around photography for.. years.) Great video and excited to see the new content you will have!!

wow this video really helped me!! i’ve been really stressed and struggling with what i want to do after graduation. i’ve always wanted to be a singer or a broadway actress. and i’m not saying that in the long run that’s impossible, but it’s a good idea to branch out and learn to love different things! that way i can have a job that i love while also doing other things i love like theatre and singing. i don’t know this video kind of comforted me and made me realize that just because i like other things doesn’t mean i have to let theatre or singing go. this video came at the perfect time. thank you kat! and yes if you want to do different videos on different topics that you love, go for it!! 🖤🖤🖤

I do competitive swimming outside of theater. When I am not doing swim I do theater. If I am not doing theater I do swim! Both have opposite schedules and make me happy!

I really needed this video right now. I've always had these same thoughts, but there have been other people who tell me that having a life outside of theatre means that I'm not dedicated or ambitious. I've known that that's not true, but I wish that those people would listen to me when I tell them it is healthy to have passion and love for other things because I don't want them to have a toxic relationship with acting/theatre. I am really happy to hear that you will be putting out more content including other things you love to do, I love your videos not because they are theatre-related but because you are unique and interesting!

Okay kinda off topic, but I’m honestly nervous for school. I’m going to an academy for theatre and dance yet the problem is- I honestly can’t dance all that well. Not only that but I’m thin, like 75 pounds thin. I’m afraid that I’m not going to get any type of role. Competition is going to be tough! Add on a case of insecurity and that basically sums me up. That and I have no other skills besides acting and singing/ attempted dancing. Plus I’m afraid I’m not gonna have any time for a job. What in the world do I do??

If you can't dance well, that's what school is for! You can learn how to be a better dancer under the guidance of not only your teachers, but your cohort who's been learning longer. If they have any shred of humanity I'm sure they'd be happy to help you. I know a bunch of people in my school who came in with little-no experience and they worked super hard to get better at it. it's possible, internet stranger!

What if I don’t have a life

yesss this is such a good video!!! so many people i know that do theater only do that and nothing else but i've found that sports help with theater a lot because (most) sports help with teamwork and that's SO important when creating a show. I seriously wouldn't be the same if I hadn't played field hockey and softball during highschool and I have always been bothered by dance teachers or directors who put me down for not only doing theater or only doing dance. I love your videos!!

It took me a good long time to realize exactly what you said - that I had worth and was worth being around even if I wasn't doing my "one thing". Excellent, AMAZING, absolutely true statements and marvelous advice!
