In this Mexico travel vlog, I take a ferry from Cancun to the tropical Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres. This lovely little island is considered a Pueblo Mágico (aka "Magic Town"), a designation given to certain places in Mexico that offer visitors a unique and special experience.
In the case of Isla Mujeres, these are some of the special things you can enjoy on the island:
- Crystal clear Caribbean sea waters in every shade of blue, turquoise, and aqua you can imagine
- White sand beaches
- Mouthwatering seafood like the meal I had at Marbella
- Friendly iguanas and other wildlife
- Charming accommodations, like the seafront hotel I stayed at called La Joya (www.hotellajoya.mx/ reservaciones@hotellajoya.mx)
- Pedestrian-only streets for shopping, eating, and grabbing a drink
- Lots of water-based activities like kayaking, snorkeling, and boat tours
In this video, I include where to eat, stay, and what to do on Isla Mujeres so you can come and have a fun time like I did! What do you think of this Mexican island...would you travel here?

I was there in 1987. I loved every minute of it. It cost me $4.00 a day for a motel on the beach in those days. I fell in love with the Caribbean way back then. Went snorkling at the other end of the Island, it was a great experience. I learned how to scuba dive after that. There was a military base at the other end of the island at that time also. Happy to see Maddie there! Love the video. Brought back so many memories! Thank you!

Yeah, I was there in the Yucatan for 3 months after graduating a New York State College back in 1982. Spent a week on Isla Mujeres Island. We are talking around 40 years ago too. It was great back in the day. Less touristy and much less expensive. Went as far south as Tulum and beyond. What a time. Went back a couple of years ago with my wife for a vacation. Stayed in a jungle beach resort just North of Playa. Was fun and great food as usual. But not the same as back in the day. You had to be there to appreciate it. Good memories are all I have left of Mexico.

I found Isla 15 years ago. I now stay 6 months per visit. It used to be a bargain to stay here. However, since the end of covid, inflation, and the weak dollar it's become about 30 to 40%% more expensive. Also, at times too crowded with day trippers from Cancun. For extended stays, you can take the bus around Isla for 20 pesos. Hop on/off from anywhere on the bus route. Just flag them down. Also, street tacos can be found for 25 pesos. Chedraui(mid-island) is like Walmart and will be the cheapest for food, alcohol, swimwear ect. CARM is the best for ground transport to the airport and tours in Cancun.

I was in Cancun and Cozumel in 2016 but didn't make it to Isla Mujeres at that time. They all have a special charm about them. I like Cancun for the Ruins and the Cenotes. I like Cozumel for the water and snorkeling. But I like the places you have shown us that most of us aren't familiar with. I hope to see more beautiful Mexico destinations.

I love your content Maddie, always so informative and interesting! I actually have a couple of the beaded hummingbirds that I got from a cruise to Cozumel and love them. ❤

I traveled to Isla Mujeres in the 80's backpacking. It is unrecognizable. Kinda breaks my heart. Then just some palapas on the beach and some open air family food stands. I wish I could go back in time!!

Thankyou Maddie my husband and I stayed Isla in 1980. It certainly has changed since then, however still a beautiful island 💕

I have been watching this channel and your old channel woth my wife as we may be splitting our time in Mexico soon. Your content has vastly improved since going solo, we both feel that way. Production value and nature of content is so much more professional. Cheers to you and good luck in your future travels.

Isla Mujeres is heaven. I went a few years ago and have dreamed about it since. I recall the food I had was also all excellent . This all looks so amazing.
