Why you cant quit League of Legends

Ойындар

Today a bit more of a serious topic that i belive everyone should be informed about, since it can significantly shape someones life.
Which is why i belive it's important to know why League is so addictive and why many players struggle to quit the Game.

I always found it strange how after a week of not playing the game, instead of being rusty I win a bunch of games in a roll. Amazing insight video.

The easiest way to quit is to find a new game which is enjoyable and you'd end up playing that one game for the whole week causing you to forget about league. after im burnt out from that one game I just end up not playing video games at all since nothing can compare to the enjoyment i had playing that game.

@@keremtastemir8510 I played all that and many more soulslikes + other types of games after I stopped playing lol and of course I came back to league. Saying you play a game for a week and forget about league is shortsighted and misses the point of the video. I used to play league during season 3 and 4 and then stopped playing. I came back during season 13 though, of course. Got a new account to lvl 30 and played a ton of ranked for the short amount of time I had since I reached lvl 30. I am bronze 2 now and will probably keep playing, even though I know this game is the worst and my teammates are the same, and I also am not good enough to solo carry even in bronze.

@@keremtastemir8510 I'm a different story since I started with Mobile Legends and have been playing it on and off for about 5 years, coming back to it on big updates. Maybe you could try to play other moba games rather than completely different games like the souls series, though you should still play Armored Core 6 when it comes out in a month. Try Dota 2, Heroes of the Storm, and maybe even Mobile Legends if you have a decent phone.

It gets to the point, where they are just evil, instead of being a business. I was stuck in bronze 1 for the longest, I was iron4, i know insane, but i had like a 70 percent win rate and carried myself out of it and jsut got hardstuck. I thought it was me and my low skill level, but then i buy a new lvl 30 account and get silver within a day or 2. It's completely ridiculous

It's kind of like the matrix, it's meant to feel bad but not to bad so you blame yourself and stay. The first matrix failed because it was heaven. It's a psychological tactic. That a lot of online games are using, to the point I don't play them anymore. The only online game I play is mordhau.

Deleted the account and not looking back. Honestly, if they didn't do these stupid engagement manipulations behind the scene, I would still play it to this day. Being matched with dumber teammates the higher you go just hit the nail on the coffin for this game. They 100% manipulate the matchmaking and the game is balanced in such a way that you can't turn around with dumb teammates. I don't even want to insult the people, but when 100hp ADC gets killed for 30 gold minion after being pinged "recall" 10 times and told in chat that he needs to recall, it just boils my blood. These people are DUMB and they DON'T LISTEN.

I was a consistent euw booster to masters in S8 and luckily made my bag for the time i invested in learning this game. I can confirm that the matchmaking has gotten worse every season after S9, and the 2nd S13 split is blatantly manipulated. Its with the introduction of Emerald that ranking has gotten to its dying breath. Nowadays the players in gold are more consistent than the players in diamond. For anyone reading this and caring about rank: Ur rank doesnt matter. I see "s13 dia players" getting hard stomped by silver players in random normal games. Its a straight up coinflip until arguably 1000 LP Challenger. The only reason i play from time to time is because i have good enough mechanics to turn games by myself and i have genuine fun doing it. Stay away and force Riot to fix it, they will not do anything if you ppl buy new accounts and grind 400 games every split.

finally someone adressed this. this is not a conspiracy, ive been saying this for years. the whole game design, the mmr system, the sounds, champion voice lines... everything is designed by professionals so the game hooks you and you dont stop playing. its very insidious if you think about it, there is a reason why this game has been on top for so long, its a drug. stop now, its not worth your time and energy. lets boycot. quit now.

Really well made video. I got hooked on the game originally for the gameplay but have quit a few times since 2011 once i understood the ins and outs. I realised skill and knowledge are rendered irrelevant by the developer through match and ladder manipulation unless you spend your life on the game. The only reason to replace the elo system was to get people addicted! People should be protected from this kind of manipulation

I did quit. 😀 the moment i could quit was when i release that Riot focus is not the player, but focus on Pro play only. -All the balances are focused on pro play -The game got reworked from how you play will reward (win) you LP > to depended on others (the team) will reward you your LP. -All the new introduced stuff is focused on pro play. They always say how to make the player excitement. But in reality they wanna use the pro players do those stuff, so the normal players wanne be like him. Casual stuff like winter map horrow map and all easy to use runes and masterys and champs are all gone. "We want more interaction, so we make the game harder to play. From point and click to pure skill bases". Example older champs, like GP and fiora. Easy to use, but reworked so its harder to use

If you played the game with the intention of not actually being invested in whatever you're doing in game but to see just how stacked against you the game gets when there is a losing quota that it must fill with you in it, you will begin to notice subtle key-presses, dodges, mechanics, movement speeds, internet irregularities, random freezes, off-ticks on muscle-memory abilities, clicks and autos and ultimately the outcome of all of the subtle rigging that's taking place underneath the fun little game this is for kids that are blissfully unaware.

Skill based matchmaking is implemented in league. The developer is lying. There is proof in the code leaked that happened a while ago, there is also interviews from the original guy who made the league matchmaking that he made to be based in fun and not fair and having something akin to 2w, 2l and 1 contested game(the game where you playing good or poorly can decided the outcome) on average. This is excluded if you, 1- are a new player(really account), 2-if you are a in a winning streak(5+w) or 3-if you are coming back to the game after being inactive for 2 months. You also can't get auto-filled if you are in a winning streak(5+w)

The system is skill based my friend you are wrong. Its just that you lose sometimes even if you do everything right. But in 100 games you will win 60-70 if you do everything right all the time. That will give you a lot more lp than what you lose and you will eventually climb to a higher elo. That repeats until you reach an elo that most players are as good as you. Then you will get stuck. A team based game cannot be 100% on your performance. People will make mistakes very often. Its up to you to not make those mistakes worse than what they already are.

There is one thing I think will help quiting is about how it rigging your mind. I think is a part of your "Dopamine" section but more about all the games is increasing your "self-identification" Like and beyond all games, the feeling from league when you are 18/0 and 9 rest of real men players playing with you at the same game is really feeling exaggerate when other games playing with bots and balanced teammates. The system consistently simulate a cycle to let you feel how real the 18/0 moment is when you lose several and win one with unmatchable teammates.

so there is no point getting your skill improved at the game because the entire matchmaking is fking rigged, you dont win by your skill, you win only because the system lets you. FK this game and the new champs they release, their skill sets are fking unbalanced & unfair, also really sick tired of seeing those meta super ultra broken champs 1 vs 5 beating everyone with super ease at every fking game (e.g. darius, yone, smolder.....etc) Already uninstalled this bloody game by the way.

    @dozrFAB10 ай бұрын

I think your argument has some holes. 1. Losers' Queue is a fundamentally flawed concept. Losers' queue implies that riot can accurately measure skill and then manipulate the matchmaking to keep you chasing dopamine hits; which is way harder than simply having a matchmaking system that pairs you with a close to 50% win rate. After all; if the goal of the matchmaking system is to give you an equally skilled set of opponents, where either side could win; you would expect players to cap out in rank at a 50% win rate in aggregate. It is far more likely that the MMS sees you winning too much and decides to give you harder and harder opponents; or weights your skill higher than your teammates until you start to hit a wall. Once you hit that wall and lose a bunch, the system can recalibrate to put you with people that are weaker players. The added component of tilt / exhausition or off role-ing is a big part to the chaos of the MMS, and is likely due to the perceived "unfairness" of the teammates one gets put with. 2. On another note, it's hard to call league an addiction off the merits of playing the game giving a dopamine increase. Your body naturally produces this chemical in response to eating, or other basic life functions. League has been refined to be a very fun and engaging game, and there is nothing inherently wrong with spending free time to play a game that is challenging, yet exciting in the moment-to-moment gameplay. The issue with addiction is when it prevents you from engaging in normal life or when you pursue it self-destructively. The vast majority of people that I have met through the game do not play an excessive amount, or grind ranked habitually. For me personally, I have played the game since S2, and after skipping a season, attained my ranked goal with a 70% wr. 3. That said, the ranked ladder is designed to make you play more than necessary. I started my placements in my ending MMR, but took 36 games to get there with a 70% win rate. I started multiple tiers below my MMR in ranking, which was total bullshit because of the unnecessary separation between rank and MMR. This is definitely a bad thing for the average player, as it inflates the time required to play the game to get their desired rank; but i wouldn't call it addictive; the only reason I even played ranked again was because I approached it with a different mentality and don't worry about friends caring about my rank; I know my skill level, and so do my friends, I have nothing to prove. However; getting to play against better players is a nice end result of tryharding in ranked. 4. The idea that you have fixed match making is a bit off-base. The likely truth is just that the game is always trying to push you towards a 50% win rate, and so if you go on a win streak; the game will put you against harder lobbies until your winrate starts to go down. The only people who can escape this are those who are so beyond their current rank that the system fails to introduce significant challenge before the player attains the rank they desire (lower than their actual skill, but with sufficient rewards) or if the player is a truly top-tier player, there may be no harder lobbies to face, and so that top #1 player can reliably carry assuming their skill is high enough to never be eclipsed by another set of players. Overall; i think league is no more addictive than any other video game or hobby; but it is easier to play a game of league than to drive to the hobby store to buy goods; playing the game is free and only costs your time and emotional energy.

I appreciate your pure mindset. 1. First point you make is that its not possible to measure what team will win, well it actually is extremely easy to measure and there have been ppl making outside programs to measure which team will win before the game started and were extremely accurate. So for Riot it is easy to replicate that with the amount of Data they have. 2. Im glad you feel that way. Me personally i think it is a bit concerning to play the same game for over a decade and i know for a fact that a lot of people have suffered from League addiction more than any other Game i know. 3. You state that it is designed to make you play longer to get to ur desired rank which is correct and the reason they do that is for delayed gratification. Ways to do that is like mentioned the mmr system or fixed matchmaking. 4. Why would a big company forgo a way to increase their profits? It may only cost time, but time is the most precious resource we have.

idk i watched the full video and i honestly just disagree the LP system isn't broken or flawed if it was you wouldn't see people climb at all the truth is most players will never be higher then gold elo and becuase of that people feel " stuck " when your just playing in within your skill level. i really don't think that Riot is sitting there behind a desk targeting you as a player everytime you get into promos are are about to hit a new rank record i just dont believe that at all. in the past months ive climbed 4 of my hardstuck brozne accoutns all the way up to Plat/Emarld rank without any issues if the system was rigged it should've seen that these accouts have been low elo for months and sometimes years and given me harder games but that ever happened not once.

Actually wrong, sure it would make sense if they have tools to improve engagement from players but to actually get it to manipulate the game the way you want is still pretty far from it, I mean even if you get 3 Players that are on a loosing streak you can still win the game if you are having the better draft or just better rotations/objective control... People are being frustrated by the nature of the game, since in order to not have that you would have to drastically improve all the time, but that is just not the Case for most Players, Riot doesn't have to do anything in order for people to get frustrated or emotionally invested since that is pretty much in the nature of the game by how versatile it is? I mean if you are having any proof of it, you are free to present it, but the technical difficulty to set a functioning system like that up is just too big because of the amount of variables. So the Problem with Loosers Queue is a recency bias or anecdotal evidence, I mean otherwise there wouldn't be Pro's or High Elo Players with 65+% WR when Riot would want you to have a certain Winrate by default? It's just way more complex than you probably think to consistantly effect the outcome of a Match while not even the champs have been picked 😅

You can quit the game, quite easily too. Sell your account and then the mere thought of playing from the start and painfully grinding and having no champs or skins will demotivate the fuck out of you from ever trying. The reason players come back is because they don't put walls in front of them, they don't put obstacles from playing the game because they make half assed promises of never playing the game again, if you actually took the decision then the mere thought of playing from the start and painfully grinding would always prevent you from ever downloading it.
