The deep irony of conspiracy theorists is that they call others "sheep" but they accept outlandish, baseless claims posted by nameless sources as truth simply because they want it to be true.

@@robem9077 I’ve never once done any of those things, but ok. The irony is in the fact that “sheeple” is a term often used by conspiracy theorists to describe regular people who don’t believe absurd things, not the other way around. Conspiracy theorists claim to be skeptics but they are completely fine accepting absolutely insane claims with absolutely no evidence. That is the irony.

No, that is not how conspiracy theory works. A conspiracy theory has basis on analisis (granted, sometimes the analysis isnt cientific or at least not cientific enough for mainstream). And if a person doesnt want to argue with you about certain theories its no because the are afraid to be disproven its, regularly (as a good conspiracy theorist would put it) because either is a dumbass.

But you're right, it wouldn't disprove all the other separate fields of evidence for evolution and it would simply mean that science is updated to match the discovery and the theories are then just shifted around accordingly, if anything.

Here's the thing. The term "conspiracy theorist" is a quite useful tool for gaslighting those who question something they shouldn't question. And the louder the-Earth-is-flat-birds-arent-real types of "conspiracy theorists" become, the easier it is to label literally anything as a "conspiracy" and dismiss people who look into it as "crazy conspiracy lovers". Yeah, there are a lot of people who see patterns that are not actually there, but there are also a lot of people who dismiss anything that threaten their peace of mind. And I would argue the second type is even more dangerous than those who we usually call "conspiracy theorists".

On the other hand, there’s also a lot of proof proving that the FBI is, yes, in fact, corrupt. Elon musk is rich, and a billionaire, a genius, and he provided the Twitter files. Proving that the FBI is extremely corrupt, and that they paid Twitter. That’s not a conspiracy, it’s a fact People tried to claim that the hunter Biden laptop was a conspiracy theory… It turns out that the FBI knew it was true, and even went over scenarios with Twitter about what they would do if the story came out. Pointing out government corruption is not a conspiracy theory, it’s not nearly the same as claiming that aliens are real or that birds don’t exist. Jesus. There have been government corruption in dozens of countries, going back thousands of years. I would almost say every country has some level of corruption. I'm more concerned by the claim that Sir Issac Newton was "mostly wrong". His model is still perfectly reasonable for most applications and the refinements offered by quantum mechanics are rarely required in most 'real world' settings. I'd also love to see this channel provide the quote where Newton claims that he had "locked down the laws of physics". Conspiracy theorists are generally narcissistic poster children for the Dunning-Kruger Effect. They can, and should, be ignored. But lazy science media outlets are just as problematic. Although they get the major points, I find it difficult to excuse their sloppiness.

I’m a survivor of conspiracy theorist thinking. For 8 years I was hard core believing it, and spreading it (successfully) Then one day I felt honour bound to watch a 9/11 inside job debunking video. Despite my growing insecurity I watch it, and never felt to stupid and smart in my life. The fact they claim it fell at free fall speed when you can actually see other objects not connected to the tower, FALLING FASTER THAN THE TOWER. Those objects are falling at free fall acceleration, and the building is falling slower than that. One of there main arguments destroyed by merely looking at the video and knowing a tiny little bit of physics. It’s scary how many times I watched that footage thinking i was seeing a free fall collapse, when the evidence disproving it was also in the video. I didn’t see it ofcourse because 1) no conspiracy videos mentioned this and 2) deep down I didn’t wanna be wrong and know I’ve wasted 8 years. But I’ll say wasting 8 years believing in BS is better than wasting 9.

"Theory" means different things in a scientific context compared to an everyday context. The problem with psychology is that it is a soft science, even the experimental type. Psychology has a habit of getting into "oughts" rather then "is", or prescriptive rather then descriptive and get contaminated by ideology and the psychological character and dysfunction of its researchers and clinicians.

If you are debating if something is or is not true, then your theory absolutely must be falsifiable, or you cannot make a distinction between your theory being true or complete garbage. It does not matter what type of problem you are discussing, if you cant falsify your theory, you might as well not have one. Ok do you mind debating the Syrian gas crisis? Where Assad their beloved leader is winning a war but at the same time is gassing his own people. Apparently this argument that Assad is more innocent than not is considered a “conspiracy theory” as it counters what popular UK, US, and French media. Which sources such as Msnbc have referred to Assad as a “war criminal” for killing his own people. Even though there is countless examples of evidence that disproves Assad to be a “war criminal.” One example or false flag being the “white hats” that immediately went to save Syrian civilians in a gas attack, these “white hat” saviors were in fact apart of Al-Qaeda, Al-Qaeda being the ones who gassed the civilians originally. The war Assad is fighting is against Muslim extremists, that are funded by America. However, popular news sources in the Us refer to these extremists as “moderate rebels”. I could go on for hours about how Assad is more innocent than guilty and that Us, the Uk, and France are to blame, but since it’s not in accordance with popularized news sources, such as CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc. I am considered a conspiracy theorists. Well I don't agree with conspiracy theories I find that a sociality that questions nothing is as dangerous as one that questions everything.

I feel the same way. To trust everything without questioning is as dangerous as trusting nothing. But I do trust evidence, if it is verifiable and logical. That's where conspiracy theorists fall over the cliff: they only trust "evidence" that supports their original theory. Enter FOX and Newsmax.

Try a quick search for "conspiracy theories that turned out to be true" and see the list is long. Do you "not agree" with those? And those aren't even complete lists. They're just the most well known. And naturally not all conspiracies are going to be exposed because it is possible to get away with things & not get caught yet.

I'm a conspiracy theorist and I have no problem with people questioning my views; what I hate is when they dismiss things outright without even allowing a chance for debate. And I'm not one of those people who thinks reptilians are taking over the world. I just like to entertain ideas that are somewhat outlandish but fun to think about. It annoys me when people act like my ideas aren't valid, yet they are too close-minded to give them a chance. I don't see how thinking this way is illogical.
