Thank you for your video! My husband is HOH and wears hearing aids but has no deaf identity whatsoever. Now we have 4 and 2 year old daughters who are both HOH and it’s been interesting being immersed in a different culture with varying opinions, most being far different from his own. Being that my husband is auditory/spoken language only and that was my first and only experience with hearing loss until our daughters, I find myself constantly challenging my own understanding and biases in order to gain a different perspective. This video was helpful because these are issues he doesn’t typically complain or talk about but are still valid!

Thanks very much for this video! My mom is gradually losing her hearing, and she refuses to wear hearing aid, because she find that the hearing aid she had just amplified all noise that make it super uncomfortable. I understand her point, but I would want to know how I could help her. She is now more isolated and not able to engage in family conversation. She doesn't know sign language. I'm still yet to find a way to talk with her...

Good for you for taking the time to understand. It's a learning experience, not just for you, but also for your mum. It will require a lot of patience and experimentation to find the best balance. Keep trying though.

When does a person decide when they will permanently chuck their hearing aids? As things grow more quiet (which I LOVE) I find hearing communications so frustrating and tiring. What made you decide it was "time"?

It gives me an overwhelming feelings and anxiety and a headache when i wear my implant. So i hate it. And It wears me out!!! I’m born profoundly deaf, Never use ASL, Growing up not know there’s a deaf community. So I got my hearing aids at 18 months old, cochlear implant at 5 1/2. And people don’t take me seriously that I’m deaf cause i do not have their accent.
