    I love the idea of slow travel and it seems to be suiting you, you're looking so tanned and happy. Slow travel links into my preferred style of going on 'walks' which doesn't involve, for me, yomping for miles to get from A to B, but can literally be walking less than a mile to a viewpoint, then sitting there for the rest of the day reading a book, looking at flowers and birds, watching the world go by, just thinking. I love it. Oh, and good tip about saving on fuel and putting it towards a campsite instead of a wild camp all the time. Makes perfect sense.

    Im not one of those van sheeples, Im a proper slow traveller, this winter Im doing a 5 month minimum tour to Scotland and I will be on Luskentyer Beach for Christmas Day, drinking copious amounts of tea and tuna sandwiches for dinner, perfect, life is way too short to rush around, im living my van life not other peoples, too many people worry about the weather, we live in the Northern Hemisphere so the weather is to guaranteed so it is what it is, my only concern is that I dont run out of milk for my tea and its not happened yet. I just drive trucks for 4 months of the year which is way more than I need to fund this life...

    Thanks for the comment mate 🤙🏽. Yeah we’re learning it’s more common than we thought to slow travel. I guess it’s just a perspective switch. Scotland is so great. You can definitely travel easier in Scotland 🤗. luskentyre beach for Christmas sounds next level. We’re still to do the Isle of Harris… well all the islands really. You’re right life is too short. That’s why we want so savour every moment we can and not speed through it. Have a great evening 😎🤙🏽

    Just following up on your "Spend £10 on a camping spot Vs spending more on fuel driving further" comment. A quick 'back of the envelope' calculation works out that £10 would get you around 40 miles, so not that far really. Enjoyed your insights. We've been using our van for short holidays only, due to health problems, but I totally agree that being in the moment can be far more beneficial, than rushing about. *Subscribed*

    Thanks for subscribing it means so much to us 🙏. Yeah I wasn’t sure of the exact maths of fuel vs campsites. But I know how much fuel we can get through a week. Short journeys are the worst for Old Gertie 🤣🙈. So we just wanted to put it out there as it could be a helpful tip for some 🤗. It’s definitely a lot less taxing not driving each day 😀. Yeah we’ve spent along time shooting from places to place and slowing down and being more in the moment is working for us at the moment. Hope you’re able to get out on more van trips as the summer rolls in. Also thank you for taking the time to comment. Have a great rest of the week 😎🤙🏽

    100% agree! this weekend was the first weekend that we have relaxed when travelling rather than going 100 mph and my god what a difference it has made, we really realised we can appreciate the surropundings. great video as always!

    Thanks guys 🙏, really appreciate the comment 😎. It’s crazy isn’t it, I think we always felt we weren’t doing enough or doing “vanlife” justice by not moving everyday. Now we’ve started to find places we like being in for lengths of time it really does make a difference. For us at least. There’s so much to see do and explore that being in a place for longer term really does have its benefits. It’s like you can be constantly swimming up stream and now we’re taking a breath and looking around 😎. Hope you had an awesome weekend! And have a great week ahead 🤙🏽

    Totally agree guys about slow travel. As you know we are parked up for the season. However we are exploring in our downtime and getting to know the area and people locally. Having a base camp is great. We have met some great people on the site and seen loads of great setups from the Motorhomes and campers to tents and van/car camping. We feel we are slow travelling. It helps us adapt to the transition in our lives from house to van and to early retirement! Thanks Dave n Jo and Tam the bam!

    Hey guys, great to hear the season work is going great. It’s funny isn’t it, I think we thought we needed to constantly travel and see new things and adventures but realised there’s so much to see and so in one area. Especially when you want to get the full vibe of a place. So cool to see everyone’s set ups and to hear people’s choices of shelter and travel. We imagine it’s great being able to explore Dumfries and Galloway on your days off. As you know we’ve nearly explored there, partly due to us racing around before. The Slow Travel we speak of really seems to be resonating with everyone and looks like there’s a club being formed as we speak 😎🤙🏽. Have a great week ahead guys and hope the sun is shining where you are 😎🤙🏽

    Been nomadic for just over a year now. When I first started I thought a month in each county would be enough but ended up spending most of the first year in the West Country & looking at the whole of this year in Wales, moving on to another area 25 ish miles a week, no idea what these campsite things are that people mention 😂

  • @TristandKez

    @TristandKez

    Awesome… we had a similar idea. But as you can see we’ve slowed it all right down and are loving it. We’d love to not use campsites but we love some areas too much 😎. We can’t wait to get back to Wales ourselves. Want to check out all the stunning and surfable beaches.

    Very interesting vid, thank you. Wondering how you resist the urge to “just see what’s round the next corner” (I’m always doing that even in a car - not made the leap to van life yet - when looking for a lunch spot - ask my wife!)

    Thanks Rob 🤙🏽, appreciate the feedback. That’s a great question. I think for us after travelling so much over the years, we’ve realised there’s always gonna be something better round the corner 🤣. We’ve traveled hours between park ups on the hope the next was better… sometimes is was sometimes it wasn’t. Now being full time, I guess we value our time differently and use it differently now. Before we’d always be going ‘home’ so we wanted to squeeze every moment out of it. Now we’ve realised to just slow down and enjoy the ride. Hope that answered your question 😎. Have an awesome afternoon 🙌🏽

    Hi , just watched your vid, I've had caravans all my life , i'm 60 now , and have just bought my first motohome , so my question is , can i van life in a 28ft 5.2 ton motohome ? or is that classed as something different as its not a van ?? , Great vid by the way

    Hey Andrew 👋🏽. Wow that’s a decent sized motorhome 😎. Scotland would be easy with a motorhome that size. Also I think a few BritStops will take you. We have a bunch of places to recommend if you need it. There’s a few channels on KZread with bigger Motorhomes and they find places to park up🤗. Thanks for the kind words and any questions you have just let us know 😎🤙🏽
