I have a 2006 Odyssey and have been looking for ideas. My first few trips I just had a row of heavy duty totes that made my bed. I really like the flexibility that the L-Shape give you. It is normally just me traveling so I don't need the full bed but I like the option. I like having a sitting place for when I have to eat inside the van when it's raining. I can see with your configuration how I could make a removable table. Thanks for the great ideas. Happy Camping!!!!

If I can figure out how to cut our mattress up without ruining it (it’s not a simple piece of foam like most) I may do this! This is the best set-up I have seen so far for configuring minivans into micro-campers. The L-shaped sofa/bed is very innovative and opens up storage possibilities. Thanks for sharing. Hi, thanks for liking the build! Yes, my wife made the cover for the mattress. We never recorded a video of that process but for the mattress we used, here is a little info. We hope this helps. We bought a full size quad fold mattress from this site: bestchoiceproducts.com/products/4in-folding-portable-mattress-topper-w-high-density-foam My wife separated the mattress into 3 sections by removing stitches. Once that was done, my wife sewn the the sections back together to close. The fit was tight so we later decided to trim the size for a better fit. This was quite a time consuming project for my wife. I like the configuration. I can see an advantage in the movie set up where the platform had two separate slide outs and therefore not have the "bottom" half out to accommodate more access between the couch and the front seats. I'm 7 feet tall and the space will be a premium until I get as slender as you. Having an attractive soul-mate as you have would definitely make everything much more pleasurable.

Thanks. We have been using a plastic container with a plastic liner and a scoop of Feline Pine kitty litter. Works great when we need it.

That should work nicely. You also will not have to deal with finding a place to store those rear seats. They are big and heavy.

The L shape design is the best I've seen so far! Kudos! I'm not sure if you were the first but the first as far as I've seen and best quality of the design build as well. Is there a full tutorial you guys have out?? or something simular?

This is super freaking awesome!!!! The L shape would fit a adult and two toddlers perfectly too.

Hello, new follower here. Are you able to show more about creating your mosquito net for when you open the back? I've been trying to figure how to sew an elastic band on a mosquito net to wrap around just the opening of the back. I have a Subaru Crosstrek, but been shopping around to possibly switch to a mini van. I love your set up!

I love your l shaped build. Did you make your cushions? Also do you have the dimensions of the lards you used with directions ? You may have covered this, but I would live to get directions, I have had a stroke so I have to have directions and what type of wood you use. I’d be happy to pay you for it. My wife did make the cushions. They are repurposed from a quad fold foam mattress that she purchased. She separated it and made it into what it is now. We hope this helps!

Hi. Sorry for the late response. From floor to roof its about 47 inches. From cushion top of the sofa/bed to roof is about 34 inches.

Hi, we bought the mattress at the link provided here. We separated it into 3 sections by removing and connecting the seems, and then my wife made the covers for them. The small cushion that says the "future is bright" is from Target. Hi. We use a screw top plastic container that stores under the drivers seat so it is accessible in bed mode. We line it with a plastic bag and add kitty litter to it. We keep a supply of litter and bags on hand because each time its used, we toss the bag. It can be a little tight in bed mode but doable.

I really like this. Did you build it, or buy it? Very nice setup!

Hi Susan. The Honda Odyssey has a switch on the dash board that enables you to turn all of the interior lights off. I am not sure about other models.

Hi Becky. We usually use the restrooms at the campgrounds that we stay at. In the event we do not want to leave the van, we have a small container with a screw top thats lined with a plastic bag and has kitty liter in it.

We wish we would have recorded the steps that were taken for the mattress but unfortunately we did not. The most frequent questions we get are related to the mattress.
