We left California after 35 years. We saw the trend where folks in California were moving, but staying in the west. After sitting in L.A. traffic for four hours, We decided to go where nobody else was going and we love it. We live on a lake in New Hampshire. It's quiet. No traffic. People are polite and respectful. We had no mask mandate (the Gov. left the decision up to us)...We see lawn signs "We love our police." and we do. Small town. It's lovely.

We got a 1922 American Four Square with an add on bonus room that's 24 x26 feet (I couldn't believe it.) Nearly 3.000 sq. ft., and attached garage. I understand the couple who shared their feelings about Idaho....we too found Calif. too noisy, too techie, too crowded, every mall looked the same. Here we buy fruit/veg/eggs/meat directly from the farmers. It's fabulous. It's a blue state with a red Governor who keeps getting re-elected because he's wonderful. Idaho is not crime free. Each week I read the County sheriff reports and the only reason why California has more crime is because they more people 40 million compared to under 2 million. Idaho can never grow that big because we have little livable land. Just look at a map to see where all the population is. Either North Idaho or on or near the Snake River, excluding Hell's Canyon.

@@DrDingus I'm just reading information out of the Idaho County Free Press dispatch log. Of course there is more crime in California. It has 40 million people. Idaho isn't at 2 million yet. And if you look at a map you can see that there is very little livable land. 60% is owned by the fed. government. And I don't run the government so I can't change that. I live in the largest county by area in Idaho but most land is owned by the Forest Service and no one can live in our mountainous region anyway. We have lots of strong opinions in our paper, both right and left, Christian and non-Christian. It isn't all red or all blue and every so often we have a murder and a lot of drug activity. We are a half-way point with drug traffic between Lewiston, Idaho and Missoula, Montana. In the last year one school was nearly closed down because someone said that the school in a town of 300 was distributing porn, but after a few letters to the editor, that push died out. And then one week a newcomer put up a large Confederate flag in our local city of 600. That stayed up a couple weeks but complaints and down it went. A pickup with a fuck Biden sign on the side got so much flak in the paper that it was taken down. We are just like most towns in very rural America. People try to do what they think is the right thing to do but it often disagrees with someone else. I even write about once a month and will probably write a letter tomorrow. I lived in Washington on an island before moving here and we had less crime there than in Idaho, but we still had some.

@@user-sk7zc1fc5u Everything you said about geography and population was why I asked if you understand 'per capita'. Also, sure, you can find small communities across many states that have much lower crime. I live in a fully gated community in the hills on a fully private lake in a high crime state, I'm at least an hour from any large city but I'm in a very niche situation and lucky to be able to live here. However, you drive 25 minutes in any direction and it's crackheads everywhere even in the smaller towns and rural areas here in CA. According to violent crime statistics from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting, Idaho ranks 10th safest state in the country, while California ranks 45th. Yes, only 5 states and DC have a higher crime rate than California PER CAPITA. In fact, the violent crime rate in CA is slightly more than 2x the rate per capita than in Idaho. That's not total crime, that's crimes per 100,000 people (per capita), so total population is not really relevant here. Washington state falls right around the national average which is still about 75% higher than Idaho. Things have changed..

Idaho was not in the top ten freest. Idaho is opposed to marijuana but in favor of alcohol and is in favor of telling a woman what she can do with her body. Besides all that, Idaho has very little livable land so when more people move there where will they move to? Maybe the two fast growing places that control that state? And as for scenery most of Idaho misses on that fact. Only the Panhandle has good scenery. And by the way, I've lived in Idaho a total of 31 years, in both the pretty and the ugly parts.

If you are not a Christian then maybe you are correct in your calling abortion murder, but if you are, what will you call the Bible?

My wife and I were born and raised in So. Cal. We had friends move to the Treasure valley. We visited them in 1990. We fell in love the place. We came up many times, then in 2006 we bought two and a half acres in “Far north” Idaho. The plan was to build a house on the land. That didn’t work out for us. When I retired in 2019, we looked for a existing house. We found one that was built in 2005, 1800 sq Ft. Our home in So. Cal. Was 1200 sq Ft. We made a small amount on our home in Cal. We put $100,000 down on a $339,000 home, so we do have a mortgage that is about half of what he had in Cali. We live 1/2 mile from the largest lake in Idaho. We live in a forest, yes, we get snow here, as I type this we have about one foot on the ground. We have had three feet on the ground. No big deal, I’m retired. My wife still works and has a 20 min commute to work. We bought Subarus before we moved here. The roads (major ones) are plowed and maintained. She drives wet roads but not icy or snowy roads. Our dirt road is not plowed, we can get to the hwy easily. We sold the 2.5 acres and used a portion to buy a boat. In the spring and summer, we can be found on the lake. We don’t miss the hell hole of So. Cal. And have no desire to move or eve go back! Life is SO MUCH BETTER OUTSIDE OF California. All the leftist B.S. of California is not up here. We LOVE living here. If we have five cars on the highway around us, we are in a traffic jam……………… have to watch for deer is all……………… OH, DON’t try to move to north Idaho…….. we’re full……..😅

I need to show a video exactly like this to my family. I know that my wife and mother-in-law would check out in the first 3 to 4 minutes. Your cameras - good, the audio - good, the setting - good, the content - great! To not lose views and other stats keep this video up. Please, please edit again and upload another copy. Aside from cost, we don't like the amount of crime and homelessness as well. It's very tough for us to consider this change, because all our family is here and we don't see them relocating. Additionally, we're concerned about job security. My boyfriend is a graphic artist and works remotely for a graphic apparel company, so he can likely work from anywhere. However I am an interior designer and work for an architecture firm. I looked at firms in Boise and it seems like slim pickings with only a handful of options. Yesterday at Napa buying a hydraulic line for my tractor I had to wait until one was made up. I began talking to a clerk, it being a slow day at that hour. He had moved to north Idaho several years ago and had purchased a place for $160,000. A few years later he sold it for over $400,000. He wanted to move into a conservative area. He said that Californians are pouring into north Idaho and bringing their liberal ideas with them. That startled me because I had heard that North Idaho was super conservative, but evidently it is turning liberal. But even with his property gain, he was unable to find raw land or a house in the county he is now in and has to rent. I don't have much land but I would never sell at any price and there are many in that same boat. There is very little livable land in Idaho. Just look at a map as to where current populations are. So many places are becoming the new California. It is coming to my county but slower than many places and the climate is mild and it's in Idaho.

To say you have no Homeless in Idaho isnt true they have over 20,000. This couple said the homes are more affordable yes that is true but there is reason a lot less people wasnt to be in Idaho and it means properties appreciate at a lot slower rate. There is reason why California has 40 million plus population and Idaho has 1.7 million.

Well I would move from LA but idaho I don’t know man. Look, every where you go there’s is going to be a problem if there isn’t, in the future there will be. One has to think okay in the next 5 years if there is a problem in Idaho do we move again? Cause that’s just not a healthy mind set to have.

We moved here in 2020 after I retired. We moved to Northern Idaho. We had been coming up to Idaho since 1990 to visit friends that moved to Moores Creek estates. We fell in love with the state. We bought our first property in Bonner’s Ferry in 2006. Decided not to build on the land(2.5 acres)in 2019. Sold our house that was in the hell hole(Cali…. My wife and I were born and raised there) and bought a place in Hope. The quality of life here is night and day better here. We don’t miss the ocean, even I come from a founding family of a beach city, because we live .5 miles from the largest lake in the state. The only reason I will return to hell, is when I need to put my parents in the ground, then I will be DONE with the place. We wake up every day in disbelief of being in such a beautiful place…….. I found myself this summer wishing it was winter so the tourists would not be clogging up hwy 200..😂

I think you guys picked pretty good with Emmett. I used to work for St Luke's security as a former cop Las at job because I blew the whistle on abusive security officers. I ended up working at Cherry gulch of therapeutic boarding school for boys that's up in the hills there Northside of Emmett. Sadly they only cater to Rich families I'm leaving Caldwell Nampa Boise and meridian, I always thought meridian was the best. I never bought another home since leaving California because the prices are still horrendous. I would warn you though that the progressive nature of California is rubbing off even in cities such as Caldwell, where my ex-wife is now on city council and she cannot be trusted. My youngest is about to get hired by Boise PDM believe, but he doesn't want me to live with them so I'm stuck in Grand Junction Colorado where it's kind of a larger Emmett although half the population is female on female if you get my drift. I work at a hospital here at security and it's pretty cool but they're going to shove the mess and vaccines down our throat again, which means it's time for me to retire. I had to go back and add this part, and that working there from 06-2017, I drive a regular passenger car and I never had a problem going or coming from work because of the snow, including Emmett.

Movers ought to have jobs before planning. Movers with kids need to consider their kids education...when i grew up in idaho the education system sucked. Yes, CA political system sucks, but Idaho has some politics that also sucks and we like it. Yes, about half of Idaho population has guns but we don't generally use them unless necessary. Drugs have been in Idaho for decades. alcohol use is heavy in Idaho. when i grew up, religion and skin color wasn't really an issue, but we tended to despise those who wouldn't take care of their families. The average income in Idaho is lower than most states. We don't tend to follow trends as readily as most other states. knowing that, the teenagers do follow trends (such as drug use).

Look at NOAH weather which will show you the forecasts for any Idaho city. I'm in Idaho, 100 feet lower than Boise and Thanksgiving day will be around a high of 49 degrees.
