⭐ About Travel Beans:
Hello and welcome to our channel! We are Alex & Emma, a British couple who have been exploring the world together for over 10 years - from backpacking to vanlife:
2012/13: We both embarked on our own solo backpacking trips through Southeast Asia, where we would eventually meet at a hostel in the mountains of Thailand and begin traveling together. After a year and a half of backpacking around Southeast Asia & Australia, we returned home and to the corporate world!
2015: Travel Beans was born and we filmed our first videos on a road trip around Europe with friends! This was our biggest trip yet.. and you can go back and watch the entire adventure because we filmed ALL of it! This trip took us through Russia, Mongolia & China, on the longest railway journey in the world. Followed by highlights such as staying on a local island in the Maldives for a month, going on safari in Sri Lanka, couchsurfing & hitchhiking in Korea, seeing the snow monkeys in Japan, island hopping in the Philippines, trekking 60km through the centre of Myanmar, exploring the Indian Himalayas, and checking out some of the incredible US National Parks.
2016: Despite an unbelievably memorable year and a half of travels, which we were incredibly grateful to have had the privilege to experience.. we found ourselves in New York City, battling depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on.
2017: After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle. We left the UK with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a continuous travel lifestyle happen! We both got online English teaching jobs to be able to fund our travels and to keep creating videos. We can't quite believe that our younger selves decided to take this plunge but we are so grateful they did as we are still on this journey today!
What now?
Over the years, we've discovered that we LOVE road trips and even decided to renovate our very own little VWT4 van into a campervan to be able to enjoy vanlife and spend more time on the road. We are now the proud owners of 2 awesome little campers - one based in the UK and one that we keep in the USA. You'll often find us using one of these vans to explore Europe and North America. Our time spent overcoming depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. My bit of advice is. Go to Scotland set up home in a beautiful place while children are very young. It’s much easier than when they get a voice and want to stay with friends. Don’t get trapped in the rat race of school and work. My childhood in Glencoe and Cairngorms was the best.

I have been fortunate enough to have visited the Highlands, including Glencoe and the Cairngorms in the late 1980s (I’m 60 now). The Highlands are exquisite, and I can understand why you would so highly recommend. Cheers for the New Year from northern Illinois!

I won’t leave them now but return as much as I can. My heart is there in that special place 🥰. Wishing you happy new year across the pond xx

I spent my all childhood summer holidays visiting my Godmother in Fortwilliam. From age 7 to 17 I spent the two months of the summer holidays playing swallows and amazons around Lochaber. From climbing the Ben, fishing, hiking, swimming and exploring I cannot imagine that I could have better childhood summers. I would like to retire to the highlands, but I’m not sure how practical that would be, but I’ll certainly get back for as many holidays and long weekends as I can. I probably should have considered moving there in my 20’s………
I'd love to see a Boy Vloggers trip (Alex, Nate, Eamon, Eric etc) and then later, a Womens Vlogger Trip (Emma, Kara, Bec, Allison etc)

Come to Canada! The question was whether you plan to go to western Canada, great if you do but don’t stop there. The east coast is amazing, Newfoundland is Canada’s best kept secret. The middle parts are nothing to sneeze at either. You will love our wildlife, scenery, and people.
It was a shame you didn't get to spend more time with Eric and Allison recently, I would still like to see an Endless Beans road trip across the US. I've been recovering from foot surgery over the last few weeks so I know rest is important, I hope you have a quick recovery Alex.
The endless adventure are my favourite travel bloggers, along with you two. And you're friend's, which is nice.
Happy 2024 Travel Beans! FYI, For YT content you can obtain a permit to film in U.S. national parks, however this info popped up during research... so the rules may of changed. According to a recent ruling by a federal judge, KZreadrs no longer need to obtain permits or pay expensive fees to simply vlog on national parkland 1. The ruling to overturn the law is due to its infringement on the first amendment which protects “expressive speech” 1. The statute in question had specific content-based restrictions that did not include content created for the news or personal use 1. This makes it tricky to define what content is unlawful to post 1. Therefore, KZreadrs no longer need to stress obtaining filming permits. They don’t have to worry about obtaining a permit to film in National Parks. Nor do they have to worry about fines or jail time for failure to do so. I hope this helps! I would double check when you travel back to the U.S.

You should also probably contact Parks Canada if you're traveling through Canada and might be interested in filming in Canadian National Parks. The regulations are obviously different because of course Canada is a different country.

I'm certain there was a US Supreme Court decision in the last year or two that overturned the National Park banning/requiring payment for videoing in National Parks for all but large commercial productions using tripods etc. Look it up.

That was true for a while, but unfortunately for those of us who love watching travel bloggers the change has been rescinded. From the NPS website. “Effective October 28, 2022, the National Park Service rescinded interim guidance that was in place during litigation regarding commercial filming and has returned to longstanding laws and regulations governing commercial filming in parks” “Under federal law, all commercial filming that occurs within a unit of the National Park System requires a permit.”

Yes i think you are right.. i remember eg Kara and Nate talking about it. And I think the Endless Adventure (who they are friends with).
Some KZreadrs I think you would get along very well are a Spanish couple and their little daughter that I think is just a little older than Noah live in Bath if I'm right. Their channel is called Entre Rutas and they make content in Spanish language but they speak English because they lived there for many years! They were living in Scotland too.
I'm sure you already know them, but you would get on with "Kinging It" who are going through a property purchase in Scotland.
I had a hernia operation 15 years ago. Recovery is rough!

I LOVE cross-over shows! Here are the vloggers that would thrill me if you connected with: 1) Snow & Curt just finished 4 years in Central & South America, then shipped their van (& their kitties) to Europe and surprised us a few weeks ago with 5 days at France's Christmas markets. They expect to travel Europe for the next 2 to 4 yeas. 2) When you go to Canada, VanCity Vanlife would be so fun 3) Not travel, but I think Noah would enjoy meeting the capybaras, turtles, ducks, etc. at the Urban Rescue Ranch in Texas.
