    In Europe they use 16ft caravans and tow them all over from North Cap through to the most southern parts of Greece.

    I love the 16’ Caravel! I just told my wife you will get more attention with it because it’s not as common as the bigger ones and it’s totally cute! Thanks for sharing! Good to see you back! 🤙

    We definitely get a lot of people stopping to comment on it in the campground! We just hope the occasionally crying baby isn’t too annoying!

    Wife and I retired in 2020. We bought a new 25 Foot Flying Cloud. CoVid hit from the time we bought it (Feb 20th) until the time we picked it up 3 weeks later. It sat in storage from March until May and we finally had enough and hit the road figuring we could self-contain ourselves in our new Airstream. We don't full-time in it, but we do take long extended trips. We live in Texas and that means major summer heat, which we escape during the summer months. This means 2 to 3 month long road trips. I also figured we would be spending most of our time outside, but I failed to consider the bad weather days. We spend 5 to 6 months on the road a year. It was during these extended road trips we discovered sitting at the dinette was very uncomfortable for us on those rainy days. That is when we decided the 30 Foot Classic was the only solution with the couch and extra space in front of it. We ordered our Classic in December 2021. We finally pick up our new 2023 Classic on 11/10 and we love it! It was like going from a low end 20K car to a 250K Luxury car in finishes. We went from the queen to a twin model as well. We couldn't be happier. I bought the 25 footer thinking I could at least get into the national parks with it. In our 2.5 years of traveling I have yet to be able to get reservations in any of the national parks when I would like to visit visit them. That is when I realized the longer length wouldn't be an issue for us with our style of camping. I also went from a 1/2 ton truck to a 1 ton dually long bed earlier this year. We are about to head out on our first trip and we are really looking forward to having the additional storage and living space. The other reason is when you live in a large house you are use to certain levels of comfort. I just wanted to give you a story from the other side of this reasoning.

    My husband and I just bought the 33 ft Classic and we are part timers. While we are in it, we are working remote and have to adjust to sharing the space because we are so accustomed to a big house and each having our own home office. I am really enjoying the Classic. Hope you are enjoying your new Caravel,🤓

    I agree about missing the “camping feeling” while full timing! We put the brakes on full timing due to the uncertainty of the covid crap....bought a house in Washington state and are very happy. We will travel as part timers as well. We want that “camping feeling “ back! Great video, you guys are awesome!

    For US the 23' is a perfect size for two. With our daughter it's a bit snug and I recommend the 25' or larger. My wife will not put up with a single shower/toilet combo. Also she likes a queen bed where one doesn't have to crawl over someone. Those two started at the 23'. Would we liked to have gone with a 25' or 27'? Sure it's about budget and compromises. Have fun with your choice. Be safe and travel happy!

    When we were first looking at Airstreams (back when we were going full time) we initially fell in LOVE with the 23' model, especially all the space and natural light in the bathroom. We ended up going with the 27' Globetrotter (this was before they had the 23' Globetrotter) for the extra tank space but it's always been one of our favorites.

    The original purchase plan was for the 23 feet Globetrotter, then Walter said I’ll go with you, uuggg. Wasn’t going to climb over in bed to get to the rest room, so the 27 feet with its walk around bed was a better fit. As always enjoy watching your videos.

    Fun video and great explanation about the reasons to downsize. Like you, we are "part time full timers" and go out for extended 3 - 4 month trips returning to our home afterwards. Our 22' International AS is perfect for the inside/outside time between the two of us. As an aside, we are SO looking forward to exploring Michigan in the near future (that was supposed to be this year but... something happened)..

    The bee did you a favor, when she jumped I could see you might have a problem. The trim on the bottom of your door is cutting into the frame. Look at the black streak left side bottom and see if you have damage. Let me know and I will tell you how to fix. Common on many airstreams.

    Good for you in your changes. Love the look of the 16 footer. How’s it working with the bed (and 6’7”!)? We have a 22FB Bambi and would like to go larger for those twin beds… maybe a 25-26 footer. Subscribed😊

    The bed is a little tight but not impossible. Especially if you put your pillow on the bumper storage thing just beyond the edge of the mattress! Also, the dinette side bed is even longer!

    Wondering how much you lose for the trade in? Thanks

  • @FreeandSimple

    @FreeandSimple

    3 жыл бұрын

    Trade in was definitely lower than the initial cost. But we’ve been making regular payments on it and the trade in covered the remaining loan so it felt like we were just leasing it for a year! Also, we have a much better APR on the loan for our Caravel so overall we significantly decreased our payments. Big win, especially with this new baby!
