WHY WE CHOSE A TRUCK CAMPER (AND NOT AN RV)

We often get asked the question, "Why did you choose a truck camper?" There are so many options on the market and in this video we tell you why we picked a truck camper. Lots of people want to get a pull behind, RV, or a van, but everyone's situation is also different. Portability is a huge deal when it comes to going off the beaten path, and truck campers are great for being portable. Let us know if you have any questions!

    Bought a new truck camper 3 years ago...best decision ever! My hubby and I have been having a blast seeing new places! We went with a Northstar no slides that we customized quite a bit. We love boondocking too. Keep the vids coming! Great job!

    I agree with alot of your points! The thought of driving a 30 or 40 ft. Pull behind anywhere near civilization is terrifying! Lol plus the flexibility and range of operations a 4x4 pickup and camper would offer is very appealing! Plus being able to park in almost any parking spot and most campsites is a plus.

    New friends here, even though we have a travel trailer, I do feel like the truck camper is extremely versatile and makes it a lot easier to go to remote locations. We feel like those are the best places that give you the most of what this country has to offer. Gorgeous shots and will be following along on your journey. Keep up the good work !

    I think truck campers are the best! We're on our 3rd one and this time went with an Arctic Fox 865 on an F450. Here's a few reason's why the TC works for us... Diesel, dually, safer driving, seatbelts for passengers, smaller footprint for city travel, quieter than a motorhome and has all the amenities in a compact size. Anyway, safe travels!! Cheers!

    I had everything in the end I went back to a class C motorhome the parking wasn't all that different then a camper, and the Class C is more integrated. The only drawback is can't get a diesel engine class C cheaply which the turbo charger makes climbing grades in the Rocky's lot easier. Another fact is with a class C I can pull a small economy car or flat tow a jeep easily without hitch extension.

    I helped a friend with a Lance truck camper @ 5 years back. He had a Ford F250 he got used from his dad. We went from Phoenix to Flagstaff to get the camper. He had the air bags put on at the dealer. We drove back down I-17 to Phoenix (pretty steep mountain highway in places) and it was by far the most frightening experience of my life. A pick up truck with a cabover is too top heavy. Rob sold the camper on craigslist soon after and he bought a Casita.

    I liked some of the points you made but to be honest you kept comparing a truck camper to a “40ft tow behind” which I don’t think most people who are considering a truck camper are debating between that and a big camper. Personally I am trying to decide between a truck camper and a small off road capable (20ft or less) tow behind.

  • @InfiniteExplorers

    @InfiniteExplorers

    Жыл бұрын

    With comparing something like that it comes down to: 1. If you want the extra length with pulling a camper vs having no or very minimal overhang with a TC. 2. If you want the extra storage in the bed of your truck while towing. 3. Extra maintenance for the tow behind camper for wheels/tires/suspension etc. :)

    Was that truck a 6.5 or 5.5 bed? I have a 5.5 bed. What campers could I put on it... RAM 1500 crew cab 1/2ton. Did you do a checklist of upgrades to make this doable?

  • @InfiniteExplorers

    @InfiniteExplorers

    Жыл бұрын

    This half ton is a 6.5ft bed. I'm not sure if there are many options to put on a 5.5 bed - maybe Scout campers has one? Most truck campers I'm aware of require a 6ft bed minimum and most are 3/4 ton truck or larger.
