I feel like this show is haunted by the ghost of Laura Osnes’s career.

It's abhorrent that more than once a show has been cancelled and cast/crew find out via social media. There's just no excuse other than laziness and contempt from the powers that be to display such appalling communication. I feel so sorry for all. Otherwise, I'm excited for the pro shot because I've not been able to see this show in person so it will be the next best thing.

Hi previous cast member of the Addams Family UK Ireland Tour here! We had common producers with the B&C tour. When our tour got cancelled, we were told via an email while half of the cast were boarding our flight to do our week in Dublin. No in person explanation were given after that from the producers. All that's to say that there is a pattern as to how poorly they treat their cast and crew. It's so devastating to see another tour suffer the same fate as us. My heart goes out to them, especially in these trying times. p.s. Bearing in mind that the B&C tour was supposed to end at the end of Oct, cast members and crew wouldn't have auditioned/seeked for jobs any earlier than that. So they basically would've missed out on all the shows opening this fall, hence losing out on whole 7 months of potential income. Considering how rife unemployment is right now, this is a crisis financially and mentally.

Thank you for explaining. As someone else said, it's really concerning that the same kind of thing has happened again to another cast. Everyone deserves much more respect than this kind of behaviour.

Feeling incredibly sad for all the cast and crew who have lost their jobs, especially for finding out via social media again. Also feeling sad that this was actually a UK AND Ireland tour (a lot of tours never cross the sea to us) but it never made it to its Irish dates.

Excited for the pro shot! I was there live and it was amazing. Although disappointed that it’s a rental rather than an owned film.

This is the second tour I’ve had tickets cancelled for, first 42nd street now this! So many people out of work its so sad

This show just can’t catch a break.

Can confirm, I live in Southampton and it’s about an hour and a half to get to London - sometimes it’s cheaper to go and see a London production than at the Mayflower Theatre! Side note but the Mayflower’s pricing is crazy, I know a lot of locals who don’t go to see shows because of how pricy it is (around £60 for decent seats, sometimes £40 minimum). Maybe that’s typical for touring theatres, but I know a lot of local people who don’t go because of the cost

I fondly remember the days when I got half price tickets at the Mayflower for being under 18!

This means I saw THE LAST SHOW, saw this on tour Saturday night 18th May, NOTTINGHAM, and it was brilliant great show great true story, thank you cast was a lovely night , all the best for your future you were fantastic .

They need to stop charging west end prices for UK tour productions. I understand the cost of moving a production around but considering the living wage is lower everywhere else compared to within Greater London its not surprising why people arent forking out extortionate prices for tickets at regional theatres.

Broadway is probably going to see maybe three shows close in the next month. Like you say, MANY will be out of a job.

Your comment on casting not being a good indicator of a show's quality reminds me of something you said in another video recently - something to the effect you were hoping to see an alternate or understudy playing a role in a show you were going back to see. When ever I go to the theater, I always hold my breath when I flip thru my Playbill, hoping no white slips of paper announcing replacements fall out. So the fact that you're so supportive of understudies is unusual & admirable.

I got tickets to see it in Ireland, it was supposed to be my first time going to the theatre by myself and I’m actually so devastated. All the songs are so amazing and I was so excited for it

This is horrible news for everyone who has worked so hard and has now lost their jobs . It is such a hard industry to be in. But I must say I am not surprised. I live near Glasgow, and I was shocked at the prices they were asking for for tickets. Especially considering the show isn't as well known as other "bigger" productions. I went, and my mum went on a separate day, and both times, atleast half the theatre was empty not having sold tickets. The prices they are asking for tour productions, isn't viable for most people. I must say I grudge paying more than £40 for a ticket, and it is almost impossible to get a good seat for that price now adays. It is heart breaking for the cast amd crew, who never got a chance to start the role, and who, most likely are now struggling trying to get a further job at such short notice.

Really insightful and respectfully delivered! Was set to see it twice on tour at later venues closer to me and so sad I missed out. Pro shot is going to be a real light for fans!

This is absolutely gutting. I know one of the cast and it was incredibly painful to see her socials last night - she didn't day anything, just shared pictures and how she missed her (show) family. So many forget that they may not find work again before Christmas. Also, so many of those theatres really need the rental to survive. But thank you for another insightful video that must have been very hard to do.

It unfortunate that cast and crew werent all informed they were out of work before it was announced. I wonder how hastily this decision was made. No doubt they tried to make it work but like any other venture, money can only be stretched so far. Hopefully this is a lessoned learned for them and it can be avoided in the future.

I started to worry when the show used recorded footage from the wings of the lead performing on stage week. He was incredible, yet when has a production ever done that part way through its run? I've never known it. That seemed like alarm bells to me; an usual tactic to market the show.

Incredibly sad for the cast. I had tickets for Blackpool for three nights as I couldn’t make it to Manchester, so I’m also sad to be missing it but first and foremost the cast deserve love and support.

I had tickets to see this and its so sad for the actors / crew. Hkwever i was surprised to see them choseing newcastle and sunderland - the theaters are 30mns away from each other by public transport and i wonder if the ticket sales were impacted? Sunderland is a massive theatre seating over 1800 and with the Newcastle dates 6month later im not sure if it could sustain both venues :(

Similarly the Wolverhampton Grand and Birmingham Hippodrome. Quite close together for only 6 months apart, the Hippodrome is the largest of Birmingham's theatres, and the grand isn't tiny. Must have been tough to sell some of the venues

As someone who lives in the North East, I have noticed many shows perform at both Newcastle and Sunderland within 6 months to 1 year of each other. For instance, Jesus Christ Superstar performed in Newcastle last September and is coming to Sunderland next month. However, it's usually big, established shows that go to both venues. Rather than smaller/less known productions, such as B&C on its first UK & Ireland tour

Tbh after seeing B&C at Sunderland in March, I wouldn’t have hesitated seeing it again in Newcastle. Such a shame, hate to see actors and crew getting screwed over again and again

Sadly none of the tour venues went anywhere near me closest was 3 hours away

I saw this show on 18th May on tour at Nottingham Theatre Royal, a packeted house and the show was brilliant ( did you know 178 bullets were fired into Bonnie and Clyde’s car!!!!) Brilliant show sad to hear the news.

Regional prices are now almost London west end level, Jesus Christ superstar tour was approx £70+ in Cardiff, Bonnie & Clyde was £50+’ people can’t afford this

Well said, I've had to travel to a much further away theatre for JCS so that I could get a ticket for under £60!!

I’m am deeply saddened about this news. I’m incredibly grateful to have seen the uk tour when it came to my local city. I was actually considering to travel to another venue to see this incredible show again, because I absolutely fell in love with it. I was hoping it would do another uk tour, but given this announcement I cry much doubt. Commiserations to the cast and crew involved, you didn’t deserve this. I guess all that’s left to say is “bye baby”😢😔

I saw it in Norwich and the theatre was half full (on a Saturday) so had a feeling it would close early. Gutted for the cast and everyone involved.

Marketing also needs to change. Just now it only tells people that the show is happening. Rarely do we get an insight into what the show is about and that matters on a tour when non regular theatre goers are needed to bulk up the audience. Its fine if the musical is well known, people know what they’re buying a ticket for but when all they see is a show name and a date and venue on a glossy poster what entices them to buy?

@@MickeyJoTheatre there is a lot they could do with material to give people an insight into what the story is and what they are actually going to see. it's too expensive to be buying a mystery box in the hope that it's good. It's funny you mention the Addams family because while it has name recognition and people know the characters no one understands how that translates to stage, what is the story? Yes there is a synopsis...somewhere but how hard would it be to even have posters that told you Wednesday's getting married and they're nothing like the Addams to nod to the chaos and farce that awaits? Movie trailers have gone too far in that they show spoilers but the fact they do that to get audiences is maybe a hint theatrical shows (especially lesser known ones) need to pull the curtain back a bit to reassure ticket buyers that it is something they will like

Was quite surprised by this news, myself and some friends saw it in Manchester a couple of weeks back. I must admit I was surprised it was on sale through ATG back in January so I thought it was going to be a quiet tour but to stop so suddenly is quite shocking, I hope the people involved can find their feet quickly. We thought it was a little lost in the massive tours this year between Hamilton, Wicked, Come From Away, Book of Mormon and more

I saw this in Manchester and absolutely loved it. It’s not a perfect show but my issues were mostly with the book. The cast however were one of the strongest I’ve seen in a show in a very long time. Vocally it was full of absolutely incredible performances and I’m so sad for all the cast and crew.

such unfortunate news :( i'm really hoping the upcoming finnish production does well.. last time i checked they had sold out a couple performances and theres still a few weeks left until opening so im feeling hopeful! summer productions usually do well here but the latest musicals ive seen at this venue have all been a very different vibe compared to bonnie & clyde (9 to 5, freaky friday, sister act etc.) also the demographic of theatregoers here is on the older side (went to see 9 to 5 with my grandma last year and idk if it was the night of elders or something but i swear i was the only one under 60 there) i hope this year we'll get younger audiences interested too haha

I work in Bromley and like popping into the Churchill Theatre after work a couple of times a month to see touring musicals. Only bought tickets for Bonnie and Clyde 2 days ago 🙈🙈 massive shame. Incredibly unstable industry to work in 😞

Saw the show last week in Nottingham, I loved it feel so sad for the talented cast. We got discounted tickets ,think a lot of shows are struggling even our local amuter shows as it costs more to hire the theater. Looking forward to getting the proshot. Hope it tours in the future.

I was going to see this based on your reviews. But it was on at capital theatre in Edinburgh and there tickets arent cheap..and these days like you said , unless it's a bucket list musical i gotta be very choosey over what i see. The playhouse in Edinburgh at least has cheaper seats in the stalls to make theatre affordable. i was lucky to see the show last week in Manchester and this is honestly heartbreaking as b&c is a phenomenal show and this cast is AMAZING 💔

i went to see it in glasgow with last minute discounted tickets and it was so good - was so gutted it got cancelled as really hoped it would be successful enough to tour again

I felt this was on the cards when I saw the show in Cardiff. It wasn't my bag, however, the tickets were very, very cheap. 2 stalls seats for £34 which is unheard of at the WMC. I'm sure the prices had been slashed just to get the numbers up and I booked on the day. As a former actor, I feel awful for the cast and crew, very similar to when COVID hit and in one day the guys staying with us were told the tour was over. And the financial pinch really is still hurting . I was in London last weekend and was shocked at the amount of seats available for every show I looked at for a Friday evening. The one I ended up seeing, as I also knew someone in it was sold out, Choir of Man but prices are super reasonable and it's in a small theatre.

I think it's such a shame. I worked front of house for its stay in Manchester and it was a great ecperience. The audience were really good and enthusiastic about it, but the average was just over 1,000 per show. I think it's sad that there's more of a preference for stunt cast jukebox musicals that invite more rowdy non-theatre goers.

I'm finding when looking at the regional theatres near me (Kent, so easy for me to get into London) the tickets are way more expensive than London prices where you also can maybe get deals, rush tickets, sales etc. I would take a risk on something I wasn't sure of, or hadn't heard of before in London but not at the regional theatre where it's twice the price for the cheapest seats...

They need to expand TodayTix outside of London! I'm super into theatre and yet a lot of the news about shows only does the rounds when it's actually in the tour stop, no wonder things don't sell ahead of time (plus the prices that are often more expensive than West End!)

I know it’s not the majority of ticket sales, but I’m disabled and can’t easily get to London to see shows. So when yours happen it means it’s way more accessible for people who aren’t able to get into London even if they don’t live far away. I never had the chance to see the show or concert in London even though I was a fan throughout that time, so I’m gutted my tour tickets aren’t gonna be used. I was so excited to see it.

The pricing of touring shows are really strange. I’m a big fan of a show that’s going out on tour later this year and me and my friends have booked a couple of venues but not the short London run because it is so expensive compared to other venues. If they’re pricing out die-hard fans, will the normal public pay that much?

I went to watch it in Norwich on a Saturday afternoon and it was about 1/8 full. Really upsetting when its very good

One of the strangest choices for me with the tour dates was choosing to go to Guildford and Woking within a few weeks of each other. That area of Surrey is home to some of the UK's largest drama schools and most of us live in one of the two, and are able to travel to the other on a 10 minute train! At my college we ended up being offered comp/discount tickets to both venues to fill seats because it hadn't sold well, even then it was very rare that anyone saw the show in both venues. It's very, very sad that the show has already closed, however smarter business decisions should have been made to avoid this from happening

About 21ms in i notice that ATG who own/run a lot of theatres have been putting a lot of productions out maybe for them the cost is more spread out where they look at the gross from all productions/shows rather than a singular show some cases. And I think this is one of the show that did a lot of there theatres so must have done really really bad ticket sales

I saw Danny Hatchard in Beautiful Thing with Suranne Jones many years ago, he was good. I hadn't even realised he'd left this tour, just wondered when I went to see it if I'd just imagined his name in the cast. Woking had no programmes which was frustrating. I agree as well, whenever I go to see something people always ask me "who will I know in it".

Ticket prices for this were less than other tours though, at least in the venues i looked at.

Ticket sales must have been truely dreadful for it to have been cancelled completely. I have seen some tours which have had less than a quarter of the audience, The Commitments and Girl from the North Country spring to mind. Very sad but smaller venues have got to sort out their ridiculous tickets prices. The only tour I am seeing consistently sell out is Six.

Thank you for so much insight. I am from Germany, so I habe no idea about UK touring productions. But I love the Bonnie & Clyde OBC and it is one of the musicals I would love to see live. There were/ are a few regional theatre productions of the show here. Very sad for all involved in the tour.

I am so devastated that Bonnie & Clyde got cancelled. I wanted to see it so bad while it was in London, but I was just getting back into going to the theatre and was nervous to go alone as a disabled person and could never find the right time to see it with someone. I was so excited to finally see it, now that I have been able to find my confidence in going to see shows on my own. Sending so many well wishes to all of the cast and crew, and fingers crossed the show can come back in a couple of years or so and be enjoyed by audiences old and new.

So gutted as we have had tickets for months!! I do feel like the raising sosts of tickets has priced people out, especially people that aren't already aware or a fan of the show

Wolverhamton is 10 - 20 mins on the train from Birmingham (if you get a fast train 1stop) I remember thinking how strange it was that it was going to the grand and the Hippodrome… I think your spot on this is a contributing factor

I wish I could see everything but I had to make choices and they were Come from Away (in a packed Leeds Grand just a couple of weeks ago) and Next to Normal coming July in the West End. Come from Away was one of the best shows I've ever seen so can't say I regret choosing it. I feel awful for the cast and crew who lost their jobs though

For shows like cruel intentions and my fair lady, i dont see the point paying to see them in a theater when the script is exactly the same as the movie. If theyre not going to update it or they dont have anything to say, its just a pointless remake.

A question of clarification re 11:45 - I saw it in Southampton back in April (was so so impressed by the guy playing clyde - Alex James-Hatton), and wouldn't have gone had it not been in southampton) - was it meant to come back to southampton? i was there on the tuesday night in southampton and they seemed to be thrilled at the good reception, even though the theatre wasn't full. very sad to hear the show has closed early

I was really interested to see bonnie and Clyde, but is too expensive for train tickets to go to London more than twice a year and never made it during it’s run. When it toured near me I happened to be away during the dates so missed it again!

Absolutely heartbroken for the cast and crew. I live in Ireland and try to get to Dublin to see the touring productions but the cost of a hotel in Dublin is so expensive now that it makes going for a night away to see a show nearly impossible (our public transport is dreadful and usually stops by 9pm)

It's funny/interesting to hear you say that touring when venues are closer together (within 2 hours), especially with smaller shows might not work. Because in The Netherlands almost all small musicals tour, while the bigger hit shows stay in one place. Maybe because we're used to it, but people don't really travel for the smaller shows, so they come to us instead. And this country is two hours drive side to side.

I really wanted to go for Southampton but it was so expensive, so didn’t Cheaper to get tickets in the west end through places like today tix Going to a couple of tour shows in Manchester later this year cos 2 shows I love are there at the same time (Lizzie & Chicago) Very sad to hear of the Bonnie & Clyde tour closing with immediate effect and feeling for the people affected

I was planning to travel to the UK for the first time from Tokyo, Japan to see it in September. I hope it will be performed again somewhere someday.

There is an amateur production of Bonnie and Clyde on this June in Sutton Coldfield.

I saw it a couple of weeks ago and the theatre was pretty empty. It’s hard for touring shows to fill regional theatres as most of them seat 1500+ people. Also the fact that they don’t drop the ticket prices when a show isn’t selling well absolutely baffles me. Edited to Add: Burlesque isn’t selling that well so far in Glasgow and the tickets prices are absolutely ridiculous. About £30 more expensive than even the most popular shows.

I saw this in Manchester and thought it was fantastic! I watched alternates Nate Landskroner and Lauren Jones perform as Bonnie & Clyde, their voices really complimented each other. This is such a shame as touring shows, allow me to see new or not as well-known musicals like this, as I'm not close to London. Thinking of everyone involved ❤

I didn't realise that the show had been released for amateur productions this year. There was an amateur production of B&C near me about a year ago, although I didn't know about it at the time. I looked u the amateur license in April and it wasnt available then; I was curious as I'm involved in Amateur Theatre

I've also noticed that many UK tours do better if there's a named celebrity in the cast. Yet, I have seen countless performances where the stand out performers are not well known; at least not outside of theatre. So, it can actually put me off if I see "big stars" in UK tours.

As you say, there's many big shows on tour in the UK & Ireland this year. Aladdin came to Sunderland for three or four weeks February - March. Bonnie and Clyde was on two weeks later. Admittedly, my partner and I only went to B&C because we got discounted tickets through the 'ATG Local Heroes' scheme. But like others have said, the theatre was half empty for B&C. It was such a shame to see & I've certainly never seen a professional theatre have so many spare seats. Whereas Aladdin, a couple of weeks earlier, had full audiences.

Okay, finally finished watching this video 🙈 thank you for summing up everything so well. I hadn't realised so many venues were close together. B&C was coming to Newcastle in October, which would've been just under 6 months after it was performed in Sunderland. I have noticed that this is common for my area though; usually 6 - 12 months after appearing at one of the venue, many shows appear at the other. However, it's usually with shows that are much more established rather than smaller shows on their first tour.

Usually ive found tge gurther you are from london local venues have goid appreciative audiences. In london area theres so much theatre, that with high prices people i yhink are a bit more picky. Casting in that case probably does inch someone over the line to buy a ticket.

This is a cheap production that could have booked smaller venues. Playing 2000 seat venues is ridiculous, the Lowry in Salford for example has a mid size venue that it could of easily sold out.

I saw the original concert at Drury Lane and both the Arts Theatre and Garrick Theatre productions too on multiple occaisions. So I went to see the touring show at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking at a matinee earlier in the tour and I thought it equalled the West End productions. The auditorium there was totally full, so it's all very sad.

I volunteer with a large annual theater production (think "Christmas Carol"). A short while ago, management sat down with several actor reps about major needed changes. The news leaked and caused social media uproar before management even had time to put together an internal memo. I know the B&C cast and crew should have been notified before hearing about it on social media, but I can now sympathize with how hard it is to keep major decisions under wraps.

Gutted for them. It's the type of show I had no real interest in going to, saw it at the Garrick and absolutely loved the music. Tried to convince my dad to go and see it while on tour, but him and his friends that normally go to see a lot of shows were quite against going to see a show which glorified real criminals. Maybe a reason it put a lot of other people from going?

It was meant to be in Southend this week, not Southampton. It was at the Mayflower in April

It was the BEST show I have ever seen and I have seen so so many. Their voices were insane! They need an album for me to listen to over and over.

Also, Hamilton is in Bristol for 2 months. Saw on a random weekday matinee a couple of weeks ago and was full. I spent 3x what I spent on Hamilton on Bonnie and Clyde, and I feel like i’m done for Hamilton as seen in the West End a lot too but Bonnie and Clyde I missed in the WE and was desperate to see again on tour (was willing to travel)! But I am a pretty hardcore fan.

I was overhearing a conversation in work of someone who got free tickets through a friend who worked for The Palace in Manchester. They were looking forward to seeing Catherine Tyldesley, but left at the interval because the show wasn’t what they were expecting. Maybe more could have been done with the marketing.

Think that can sometimes be an issue as well. Think people tend to buy tickets nearer the date than they used to. Certainly find myself thinking ‘I’ll see what finances are like nearer the time’. There could potentially have been venues later in this tour that were going to sell well, but people hadn’t bought tickets yet.

My friend who is on holiday in Portugal told me. I was at theatre royal Newcastle seeing drop dead donkey yesterday and the posters were still up. I’ve gone on their site to check and it does say cancelled. Don’t know why I’ve not got email to say so. Very disappointed for everyone involved including cast crew and supporters

Last time I remember a tour cancelling was wonderland with Kerry Ellis. I was shocked!!!!

Interesting comment on shows with younger audiences doing better in the West End with people more willing to travel to them. I believe David Cumming from Spitlip mentioned something on Twitter recently about Operation Mincemeat being unlikely to tour because of the expense - I think size of venues would definitely be a factor but I also think that show does have a lot of younger fans who happily travel into London to keep coming back, so yeah maybe wouldn’t do that well on tour. It’s an interesting conundrum. Very sad to see this news, but I donthink once this has died down it will still be remembered as a West End success.

My parents always ask "who's in it?" And as a recently graduated theatre student with no credit to my name I always respond "does it matter?" 😂

I can't talk about this one but I know that tour ticket prices are getting v expensive. I was looking at tickets for the kinky boots tour and I could go and see a west end show cheaper.

saw this production in Bath and Nate was Clyde, was so excited for him to take over the role officially as he was literally incredible. so sad for all cast and crew 😢

I saw the concert, the show in the Arts multiple times and the Garrick also many times and it was magical. Then it went on tour and I saw the show in Cardiff twice. The magic wasn’t there. I think you’re right that the west end cast was a huge pull. Since seeing it for the first time at the Arts, I have seen pretty much everything else that JLG has done as he is amazing. The tour cast just didn’t bring the same presence to the stage. Also the theatre was much larger so the atmosphere maybe just wasn’t there. Having said that, the theatre was packed on both occasions. Can’t wait to see you on Sunday by the way!!

I tell you what I make of this situation regarding affordability and touring shows. I believe the issue is now on the RELIANCE of non-theatre regular tourism and non-stagey people for ticket sales. This is not at all blaming certain genres of people or companies, as the cost of living crisis has made everyone very vulnerable regarding departing from their money AND theatre companies need to charge more to not fail! Non-theatre people coming in, seem to be more needed than ever and when they aren’t intrigued enough to go by these larger household names OUTSIDE the theatre community, the shows suffer because of it! Cult shows such as Bonnie and Clyde mostly seem adored by its fans, which isn’t affecting non-theatre people to choose that one over the household name of Phantom and Les Mis. The difference in selling out the National with a name like Sheen compared to a non-famous celeb at the helm is shocking!

Really sad for the whole company and all those who were relying on the tour for an income.We are having to very much pick and choose what we can afford to see and there are casualties.Reminds me of how gutted I was when the "Once" tour was cancelled

I'm so glad we saw the London production when we did! I really enjoyed it, I thought it had some clever staging ideas and excellent performances. I think unfortunately people might love musicals and be wanting to see these productions but I think the market of people with ticket money going spare is getting fewer and fewer.

So gutting to learn about Laura Osnes's stance on... many things after the vaccination scandal. She's incredibly talented. I guess the signs were always there since bts of Cinderella but I just ignored.

People are struggling with their budgets. It creates a vicious downward spiral that has a knock on effect that makes it incredibly difficult to reverse. Many can no longer afford it. And those that can afford to see shows are cutting back - for every 3 shows they previously would see, they now see 2 shows.

In the US, "convenience fees" are half the price of rhe ticket itself
