I don’t think villagers were ever enslaved by ancient builders, or at least not on any substantial scale. The reason why villagers use emeralds is more likely simply because they traded with each other a lot, so over time they naturally adapted a common currency. They use it to this day because having a standard currency is useful and it would be too much of a struggle to estabilish a new currency, especially since villages are spread far and wide and they have only limited means of communicating with each other. I also don’t think the immunity of villagers against zombie virus would have much to do with their noses. Otherwise I mostly agree with your theory.

haven't watched the video but I'm guessing it's because they're rare but have no other use unlike diamonds which are useful for tools, so they're what coins are to gold nuggets in real life, you can't make something out of coins but you can out of gold, or iron also

“You can’t make something out of coins” you can melt a quarter and take the copper and then turn it into a wire or something so actually you can make something out of coins

To me the inflation theory seems the most reasonable, too much of something starts to lose its value and therefore becomes less desirable.

An alternative to paper currency that would actually work in minecraft: A ultra complex banner pattern controlled by the Government, so they can make more banners but others can't fake them. Also: include the Mojang pattern so the difficulty of faking is even greater

I really enjoyed this video, but I would like to see more Minecraft story videos.

I’m honestly glad that emeralds are the currency over diamonds, as diamonds can be used to craft tools, whereas that isn’t what a currency should be for - a currency’s sole purpose should to to barter, bargain, profit, and pay for items. No more, no less.

Also, there is a feature in Minecraft Bedrock and Pocket Edition no one is talking about: the Blacksmiths, (Weaponsmith, Toolsmith, and Armourer) gives emeralds for DIAMONDS. Yes, you heard me right, guys. Diamonds. No Minecraft Modpacks, no Addons, just a untold regular Minecraft feature.

It's diamonds for emeralds not the other way around

they don't use dimons because there are quite rare emeralds are a bit commoner so they thought about the paper currency we use so then they decided a green ore such as money so every since they started using emeralds to trade

IDK, are diamonds more valuable? The only unique item made with diamond and cant be made with other stuff is enchanting table. Iron is more valuable to me as it makes hoppers, pistons, shields, shears, tools and armor. Extra durability is nice but diamonds are otherwise useless, there is no major useful sinkhole.
