Hi. TED-Ed (and many of the students & teachers we work with) definitely consider KZread a legitimate edu tool. It's an open platform, so brilliant people/groups can upload brilliant ideas at any moment. And once uploaded, those ideas can be understood, improved upon, etc. As for replacing lecture...hmmmm...not sure it's an "either/or" scenario. Online lecture is good for some things. Class experience is good for some things, too. Perhaps it's all about the best tool for the job at hand?
It holds because, what you say is true. I'm just a real specific focused person and I keep going back to media controlled by what the owners want to gamble with and what they believe will help ratings.
Not the first time this was posted on TED.
awesome vid.ic a video has to resonate with people and it has to have unique novelty
@James Allen Yeah I know, it's unfortunate actually. But those kind of things tends to run out of ideas especially when all they did was blending EVERYTHING. More or less.
So sweet .
Yea, it was on the Ted website long ago
Hey TedEd I 'm curious to how you guys feel about youtube as a legitimate source of education? Many people say it's a complement to school especially for college students, but I feel that it's more than that. Theres a youtuber named Patrickjmt who is the reason why I was able to pass calculus. I actually want to watch his videos and learn from him. I want to know if you think students will ever be able to use youtube for lectures instead of going to those overly crowded uncomfortable classrooms?
I'm talking about movies before internet. Not reading material, but you are correct. I was a book worm.
Yes, but with a new accompanying and customizable Lesson on the TED-Ed website. We'll still be posting at least 4 new educator + animator Lessons every week, but we're adding some TEDTalks on the weekends that students and teachers have identified as awesome/useful. The TEDEducation channel is part of the KZread For Schools initiative. So re-uploading makes these Talks (which might otherwise might be blocked in schools) more accessible.
He said that "tastemakers" are part of the phenomenon. If you listen, he defines tastemaker.
Ya I'm surprised no one's mentioned that in all of the comments, lol. But it seems like this was incorrectly uploaded to this channel, because it also exists on TedTalks I believe.
Sweet!
re-upload?
Thanks Kevin Allocca for telling me that people see viral videos.
냥켓송이 이때도 있었다니!! How Nyancat-song was in 2011!!
its no longer new media when you have ads.
I want that job. Im probably already a pro
eh, didn't they show this episode already? seen it...
I think so
Well, true. I'm just saying that there was no internet and your only source of entertainment was either turn the TV off or on. : )
You have.
I soooo agree with you! lol --Debb Saxx
So to summarise: what a viral video needs is luck, uniqueness, luck, luck, and an incredible amount of luck.

lol
You said that before.
Yes, that's pretty obvious.
My first video took off really fast, but then slowed down. Not a lot of lady saxophone players sound like me, so I'm told. :-) -Debb
You were the one pointing out what a poor eduction your school provides, I was simply suggesting it shows. Thus agreeing with you. Why argue with me when I'm only proving your point for you?
Viral videos are made popular by the masses, not select "tastemakers"
There you go again, is there something wrong with you? If you're gonna go, then go!
In the Beginning God created light and now we have KZread. That's my religion.
i think i have seen this before?
I understand all too well. I am a stunt/actor.
Wait, how does this count as a new upload?
DOUBLE RAINBOW!!!!
So what you're saying is, viral videos are completely random and not really creative at all?
Help? I'm tired of the studios deciding our entertainment.
It's possible he or she has seen this video already. TEDEducation released this video months ago. I know I've already seen it.
I wonder if this video will go viral...
This video is a repost. He could have seen it intially.
?**
Cats were watching other cats watch this video !!
No video gets a lot of views if nobody knows about it.
If there's a picture of a woman's chest on the thumbnail, it goes viral.
Really?
I just lost..
lol, loved it!!!
WILL THIS VIDEO GET VIRAL
Cat-ception
I watched this video (and had a celebratory swig of Tia-Maria) cos one of my videos has over thirty-five-thousand views. And I wonder why, cos most of my others have twenty views (or a bit more). lol My popular video is a model plane video, and maybe It's popular cos some model plane freak (who has lot's of views) has shared my video (or whatever). I have other model plane videos with only a few views. I'm a "back-door" You Tuber whom nobody knows about. But my one video is different and the views still seem to be increasing. Cos just not long ago it only had seventeen thousand views (still amazing for my channel though). Now it's more than doubled in a month or so. I have a lot of different stuff on my channel (not just model planes). In fact I didn't have any flying model plane videos until fairly recently. I had speakers, alternative housing, aircraft designs (for full size aircrafts), fake ufo, floating balloon thing, a boat interior design video (with 20 views) and joke videos (the list goes on). And if I didn't put any flying model videos on, I would still be a 200 hit You Tuber. lol So my advice is to put lots of different stuff on your channel (if you want to go viral). I'm not saying my video is viral but it's "viral" compared to the rest of my videos. lol
delicious, but how do I, ME, MY KZread get more popular?
Casey is one hell of a good guy in real life too; one of the best filmmakers out there.
KZread is the reason why J.B. became famous?! KZread must be destroyed.
Videos go viral, cuz we like stupid people.. Nuff said
you kinda of missed the point of this point.
actually this was reuploaded
3 hours version? cute. there's a 10 hours version. haha. :D
I thought videos went viral because they got a lot of views . . .
Casey's one TED!
This is an interesting video, but I don't get why the audience is laughing so hard. A cat watching nyan cat just isn't that hilarious.
First!
I'd like to hear him talk about how Gangnam Style happened
Alright, which famous guy is tweeting about this?
NYAN-CEPTION at 4:23
Stop posting ted talks to ted-ed channel. If I wanted to watch ted, I'd watch it on ted's channel not here.
Lets make this go viral!
for all you know, he could've been at the conference.
Will this video go viral?? Who the fuck cares... the real question is. WILL IT BLEND?!?!
yep, that's how it is
CATCEPTION!!
Kevin Allocca "just said" that it doesn't work like that ;)
Cancer, stop forcing memes.
