Why Using A Dumb Phone Is Smart | Flow State with Harry Mack #11

Музыка

Harry’s back with Flow State Episode 11. In this solo episode, Harry gets real about the undesired effects of algorithm-fueled social media scrolling and how he started reclaiming that time in his day. He answers questions about what he’s currently reading, who inspires him, and who could take on the role of Harry Mack when it’s time to film the story of his life. Harry also talks about getting lost in flow state and what’s happening when he closes his eyes during a freestyle. After reacting to his viral Move Ya Body collaboration with Marc Rebillet, Harry sums up the episode in a freestyle so fast it outpaces the studio’s wi-fi.

Episode 11 already? This guy is the most underrated KZreadr. His work ethic is impeccable. He deserves an award for being the most dedicated KZreadr. And a "best freestyler" trophy handed to him by Eminem and juice WRLD (of course juice would have to be 3D animated) but that's the recognition he deserves.

Like you Harry, I also prefer going to the bookstore either knowing what I want or just browsing for the unknown adventure it gives my brain. Also the smell inside the bookstore like you said lol, totally agree!! Absolutely love your podcast!!! Btw that freestyle at the end:🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉👍🏿👍🏿💯🐐 Honestly WTF?!!!! I have been using a bullet journal for the last two years+. It has evolved and changed so much. From a scheduler, planner, and journal down to a daily check in, habit tracker, and gratitude tracker. I had started and quit so many times. I have accepted my use of it and use when I need it, which has turned into almost daily. I am going to start carrying a pocket journal for random thoughts. Opening a journal over my phone.

I used to start my day by scrolling through various science articles (for the layperson, yet well written enough to be useful maybe). I should start doing that again I think. These phones can be amazing portals of knowledge or just massive time sinks that seem to de-evolve my brain. And I can only blame myself if the latter occurs.

Not all people would appreciate the chance of you getting your life back from all the algorithm our social media presents. If you have a chance to do this like Harry, do it. It might sound seem irrelevant but thats how this algorithm are made for. To hook a person into spending more time scrolling. Every milliseconds you spend on this platforms the bigger the data they collect and the more effective it becomes to give you more the things the algo thinks your into. I appreciate content creators that acknowledges this kind of things today in this generation.

I have literally over a hundred composition notebooks, all of which are either unfinished or have pages torn out of them etc. That I tried to do as you say "make a perfect notebook". Majority for hobby related things....I even at one point went and pre-numbered front and back all the pages and left a page in the front for a "table of contents" and was like "okay this will keep me from messing up, or using a random page in the middle to write down something unrelated, etc." but alas I got to probably like 20ish pages in before messing that one up lol. Done highlighters, having multiple different color pens to write with and all other sorts of methods to try and keep it "perfect"" but it never works haha.

Cause as I was running out of time? I was notified. I was also able to add time... or turn it off completely! So if I was watching something... I first added time 🫣.... and then I inevitably would turn it off for the day if I was still watching something, and I was into seeing the end! I obviously promised that I would just watch to the end of the specific content? 🙄 As I said? Epic Fail! 😂🤣🤣.

I've heard you mention Eyedea a few times in passing as you list off inspiration, so it was great to hear you expand a little more about him and that you saw him live at show(s) and what that was like! Eyedea, back in 2000 via the Blaze Battle, was my gateway to underground hip-hop. He was always the #1 freestyler by a long shot, until HMack came along.

highly recommend Dr K's interview with Mel Robbins on this topic of Social media scrolling, etc.... So informative about why we do it, what the effects are on our lives/mental health, and how to be more healthy with it.

At one time I would have loved that but now I think it could be a bit awkward with Supernat after he was talking s**t about Harry.

@jazgee602 Nah, I think they're good now. SuperNat had a fire appearance on Black Pegasus' podcast, interview and freestyle. He showed respect, calling Mac a Super MC

@@rev9540 personally I would still find it very strange if they were to get together and NOT address the time that supernat was being an absolute moron. Saying that mack was copying him by asking for 3 words??? That's absolutely pathetic, I literally remember people in the UK doing that kind of thing decades ago but he's acting like it's his thing which no one else should be doing 😂😂😂 now that Harry has gained so much recognition he has no choice but to jump on the bandwagon because he knew people were turning against him for being so bitter. Well that's how I see it anyway.

@jazgee602 I'm pretty sure SuperNat has been around and did that before the UK lol. He was the pioneer in that. A legend in freestyle. As for gate-keeping the 3 word routine, yeah, he was bitter for sure that Mac was doing it and took it further, but I think he got over it. Rap is competitive, especially old-school. So of course he probably saw Mac as competition

I have the scratch documentary on dvd, the whole thing is dope, but there are 2 parts I love replaying. Dj mix master mike playing an old tune and then mixes in a fat baseline, and jam session at qberts . If you know, you know. Dope.
