Now that interesting! Casting the seed first the mowing the cover crop to act as a medium for growth of the next crop! I've been out of farming too long. We only farmed to support our livestock, but it still gave me great enjoyment!

I have a brillion flail mower for cover crop, and I’ve put an extra hole on it for the lifting cylinder, so that I can lower it a little lower so it just is touching the top of the dirt so the cover crop let’s say like sweet clover doesn’t grow back

Does it stop at grass, etc or will it do stuff like red osier dogwood and woody shrubs?

It will handle woodier stuff, but it needs different cutting teeth.

Depends on if it’s hammers or y-blades. I have hammers on my flail mower and can mulch stuff up to about six inches and mow trees down up to about three inches in diameter.

Well, it have many more knife blades that a tiller has tines. And it spins faster, but the basic design is more like a tiller than a bushhog.

@@DowdleFamilyFarms I wouldn't know. the tractor we used for the tow behind only had a top speed of 5 MPH, and the one we used for the three-point tended to bounce you hard enough trigger the seat safety switch if you got much above 5 MPH.

@@DowdleFamilyFarms what's really interesting is you uploaded a short extolling the virtues of flails, and then complained on a post pointing out another virtue.
