Some people don't understand one thing that India (large consumer) buying oil from Russia actually help other countries in maintaining oil prices. If India too doesn't buy oil from Russia, think what would happen? The demand would increase, and obviously prices go up in other countries. Some help you don't see directly. But when you connect the dots, It may visible.

I had an opportunity to stay in a small town in north Russia for a year, and I have experienced how warm, loving and respectful the Russians.... young and old... were towards all the Indians staying there! Despite the language barrier, they would stop us in a store or on the road and strike a conversation, mentioning our leaders, ....our famous hindi movie songs from Raj Kapoor to SRK....they would sing in their own style the hindi songs to bring a smile on our faces...the treatment was special..... Even old people standing in a queue would ask us to shift forward in the queue!! Clearly they showed us their love, respect and their trust!! That is a true genuine friendship among the people of both the countries... not just the leadership!! No one should even think of breaking these warm and strong bonds!! It's not going to happen!!

USA should look into it's past how it treated India. For example look into India - Pakistan war of 1971. You will know who is best and time tested friend of India. It seems USA is not learning from it's past because just last month it once again sided with Pakistan and helped it by giving big amount of money for upgrading their fighter planes which Pakistan uses them against India. And we are not supplying any war equipment and from the beginning of independence russia is our defence partner we can't change overnight and we can't trust usa look at taivan how is they are in danger what is usa doing. So indians need self interest and we will take care of ourself independently slowly we will reduce our dependency on any other country in all field currently weapons, and oil are the things we are most dependent we buy it from any market where it is available with best price.

India's move towards self reliance in defence is the best approach. India's move to be have independent view and support a multi polar view is also perfect and hope it leads by example for every other country. To not become a vassal state of any of the 3 axis.

@@h.k48 Since natural resources are limited...we will alwys have to import things particularly oil. India has taken smart approach by investing in Lithium projects in South America and Africa. Again, rare Earth deposits are mostly in China and other countries, so we cant do anything but maintain alliances and import. On top of that we are heavily over-populated. On weapons we have reduced imports significantl in past few years after indigenistaion push...but in this regard.....having good relations with US is critical. Remember we imported hundreds of billions dollars of weapons from Russia and they still rrely do any technology transfer or setup local manufacturing...while american companies have setup few manufacturing plants in India already.(to reduce prices for themselves...but it's good for India as well). For Russia, we need to maintain good relations for minerals and Oil.

Germany is infact importing Russian gas even today. Germany is playing tough by samctioning Russia but has a lot of caveats in it's policies to ensure itself of energy supply. So everybody is providing a mere lip service but everybody wants Russian gas.
