Just a note: To understand the total impact of refugees in the countries of the region, it is important to add Iraqi (including the IDPs) and Palestinian refugees to picture with the population and GDP per capita of the regions and countries that accepted them. (I am writing this to demostrate that in contrast to the claims of Turkey, actually Lebanon, Jordan and Iraqi Kurdistan have sacrificed more to accommodate refugees in the region.)

Military forces of Turkey entered Syria to clean the terrorists from there. turkey does not want an agression on its borders. However the agressions were already affecting the borders of Turkey with Syria. Turkey does not invade the lands of Syria. The safe zone serves to create the the stable place on the borders of Turkey with Syria. If the purpose of Turkey is to invade Syria, Turkey would have done it in a very short period. Turkey has the power. But what Turkey is doing in Syria is to clean its borders from the terrorists to create the actual safe zone. Turkey does not invade Syria.

It's a summarised version, that doesnt cover the main aspect of the conflict much due to time. Ethnic identity, and the historical implications of that identity. The division of the Middle East after the fall of the Ottoman empire, that split the Kurds into many different areas. The fact that Kurdish nationalism is high because they were threatened and managed to hold IS off. That if the PKK instills an uprising with the support of Syrian Kurds, Turkey risks losing territory. But who do you fit that history in a short 10min video? It's always good to do research after documentaries, they cannot fit everything in. Research on the Kurds, their diaspora and what the PKK has done in turkey previously. Research on the Turkish governement, popularity ect. I love Vox because they summarise and their content is always well presented. But as with most journalistic sources,its worth learning more.

As a matter of fact, when Syrian regime bombed Turkish patrol last year, Turkey only needed to use their armed drones to answer back. If Russia didn't intervened, Turkey could have easily invaded the whole Syria. So, they actually do not need any kind of shielding effect from civilians, and if they needed, why would they host 3.6 million Syrian refugees in their country ? Every Kurd don't support YPG/PKK. PKK is designated as a terrorist group and YPG doesn't ever deny its relation with PKK. Those terrorist groups killed more than 10.000 thousand civilians in Turkey. I don't even count soldiers, police and, etc. And EU and USA supported Turkey in Syrian operations because of those terrorist groups.If the YPG had denied its ties to the PKK, Türkiye would not have started the operation.

It was less of an offer and more of a blackmail. More like "do not interfere or I will let the refugees come to Europe". Of course even the fact that Europe is so afraid of doing its humanitarian duties that Turkey can use it as a negotiation card is embarrassing enough.

So many mislead information. First, sdf didn't come up from ground, it's main force is ypg, which Syrian branch of pkk. Besides, mazlum kobane, commander of sdf is a long time pkk member and high ranking officer. You haven't mention turkey having meetings with ypg back in 2015, Salih Müslim visiting Ankara many times. Turks offered cutting ties with pkk and offered help. Ypg didn't agreed. So turkeys first action was to support Syrian Kurds, they choosed to side with USA and pkk. Also, i never saw your video mentioning ypg mortar strikes into Turkish towns. Even long before these operations. Plus, turkey never agreed 5 km zone. Instead first plan was 45 km but Trump convinced it should be no more than 30 km. This 5 km was usa telling turkey ok we started patrols, soon ypg will leave these areas and you get your corridor. But ypg didn't agreed that plan and told USA they will never leave. So turkey stopped 5km patrols and decided after a year and half nobody is caring about turkeys security concerns, so operation started. There is a lot more you haven't mentioned since you have a political opinion on this, but readers who read this far would get the idea.

If you were to ask the average Syrian refugee in Turkey if they are where they want to be the answer most would give is no, if you were to ask them if they would rather be in Europe the answer most would give is yes. Turkey just happens to be the closest and most accepting country for many Syrian migrants but that does mean everyone who flees there does so because they have any affection for Turkey or that are happy with Turkey's military intervention in Syria.

You are missing really important points in your analysis. First, PKK is not a separatist group, it is a terrorist organization that killed thousands of civilians as well as soldiers in different parts of Turkey since 1984. They are recognized as terrorists not only by Turkey, but also by the US and the EU. Second, SDF is not a joint organization formed by Kurdish and non-Kurdish militias. It is just a rebranding of an armed Kurdish group called YPG, as admitted by US officials before.

I'm not a Erdogan friend myself by any means, but it's often forgotten (or rather ignored) that this intervention was authorized by the turkish parliament, with even the social democrats (HDF) voting for it. Turkey has taken in more refugees than the entire EU with Syrians in Istanbul being well over 100,000 people. Any country would protect it's borders. All of that has to be put in consideration when dicussing the turkish military advance

@@SVY001 Syria’s population was 21.36 million before the war in 2010 then it reached a low of 16.95 million- that are documented and definite (not including citizens in ISIS and other distanced groups which controlled Syria) so unless if you’re saying 1/2 of the country went to Turkey and disregard the 2 million that went elsewhere. The biggest mistake the SDF did was coming together with the PKK, since they are Iran backed militias, they gave Turkey a reason to invade it... and of course another reason was the Kurdish parties in north iraq, they allied with turkey instead the SDF...

Efe Kaplan During the TURKISH op. first of all. SDF didn't stepinto the other side of the border in anyway that can e possible so it must have been done because the turkish military was in that area and they perhaps used a missile. Also it could be a lie becaus usually turkish media loves to make big deals out of nonsense. And most importantly, turkey used chemical weapons against civilians. Not even talking about the robbery and the displacements of the kurdish pop. And the religious minorities. Try to watch medias different than your local ones so you can see the whole picture.

​@@kurdishcaptionsteam5377 Oh my god, Turkey doesn't even have chemical weapons. and you keep saying perhaps and you don't have an exact idea just keep saying "Perhaps,must have been done,can" It is true that Turkey media loves lying but the media we are seeing in this video are also lying. You probably don't know but the terrorist group called "sdf" carries PKK and Ocalan(he was leader the leader of PKK once) flags so they are just two sides of the same coin. "SDF" is "PKK,YPG" and they were attacking Turkey's border cities such as Kilis and Nusaybin, many people died in those cities because of bullets and missiles sent from that "SDF" group.

Ugurcan Basoglu SDF never attacked to Turkey. Turkish authorities actually proposed to send missiles within Rojava so that can be a reason for Turkey to invade Rojava and ethnically cleanse it.

Nurullah Hergül I think you should make a comparison of cities after American operation and Turkish operation you can easilly see how Turkish army is careful and sensitive during operation. And american site you cant even call that demolisged buildings as a city

Kurdish Captions Team are you kidding me? Do you say they didnt do any attack to Turkish borders? We lost 26 civilians (4 child and 1 baby) before and during the operation. Do you think thats just a media exaggeration?

I am from Iraq and if this ever became a war, I would join Syria’s side. Turkey is a good friend of ours but iraq would never choose Turkey over our brother nation Syria ❤️
