Same, I build him bc the traveler own him a life, before he is used in my HuTao team but when I have Zhongli in 2.8 he is replaced, but now feel so good when using him as a new role when dendro release, his burst do snapshot, so perfect synergy with Nahida, sucrose & Collei's EM buff

I did the same and after I got Kuki gave all his artifacts to her cause they both run triple EM and HP on Gilded Dreams anyway.

@@yashsarda2263 Same I also use Kuki but I'm just now building Thoma since I got him to c4. It's a pain getting triple EM from Gilded set so what I did is slap triple EM Instructor set on Kuki (she has like 770+EM) which works great then the Gilded can now go to Thoma.

I love that dendro with single update changed meta so much that characters that were "bad" are now "fixed" . They have such strong new roles teamcomps.

I was so H̶o̶r̶n̶k̶n̶e̶e̶ infatuated, I built Thoma in his first release and now I am so happy that he’s my MVP ever since the dendro update in my spiral abyss. He even beat my Rational and Geo team and had the highest kills in my Spiral Abyss hehe. Happy gaming to all my fellow Thoma enjoyers! ❤

Albedo is extremely underrated in Burgeon & Burning Team. His kit fits perfectly for controlling the burning aura, with the addition of Crystallized shields (who would've thought it'd be useful) to further prevent your characters from taking damage. His personal damage is also decent, dealing about 15k dps on average and it lasts for 30s. His burst also increases your party's EM for increased damage.

Sounds good, will test. your Albedo must be cracked though. without geo resonance and external buffs mine does ~13k per flower on average (16k crit) lvl 90 talent level 8, signature weapon(lvl90) and set(husk), 23 crit/def substats, so that's ~6500dps assuming you pop every blossom on the frame it spawns.

Thoma is such a lovely character. Well designed, kind hearted, and a reliable asset during your trip to Inazuma.

Funny how Thoma’s ascension material, Fluorescent Fungus, is, well, a fungus. It’s a term you will hear in the Sumeru/Dendro patch. It is as if the Developers intended him for Burgeon right from the very start.

I built thoma a while ago because hasubando, but once dendro arrived i could finally make a meaningful team comp for him I'm so happy actually

It's interesting that Hoyoverse releases so many characters before they are "ready". Yae and Kuki's EM scaling made little sense until spread/aggravate became a thing. And Thoma was sub-par until burgeon was implemented. I both like that old characters are becoming fresh with dendro, and dislike that these characters were apparently "incomplete" with their release. Not sure how I feel about it overall.

I'm not sure Hoyo actually planned Thoma to be good with burgeon, he's released wayyyyy back in 2.2, I don't think they already have ideas for specific dendro reactions by then. For Yae and especially Kuki, I can see them released with dendro in mind. Its fortunate that he actually have a great team now though, I have a reason to build him besides just being an inferior zhongli now

@@jsw973 If the speculation of release changes are true, where Kokomi and Yae were switched, Yae's first kit would've been in production right as Thoma was being worked on, when they then decided to delay her to make her dendro focused. I actually think Thoma's kit has a different origin than we think, but his current iteration would've come out long after they would've been working on dendro stuff for a while. Remember, they need time building the entire region's assets, which means starting even earlier than the several months to make a character kit.

I've had Thoma built and invested into since his first banner and I will die on the hill in saying that he is a good shielder (even great) if you actually build and play him properly. He's even my second go to shielder next to Zhongli because of his refreshing shield mechanic. When dendro was added I was so excited to be able to use him in a new playstyle because now he at least has more options other than just provide shielding!

I just got Childe and I was building Thoma... the 2 of them work EXTREMELY well. Unfortunately I don't have Nahida so I use dendro traveler but the team is so fun! As the 4th slot I think Jean can work really well, since she can be equipped with favonius, has a spammable skill that has so many particles and heals pretty well. Also Venti can work very well I think if you put favonius on him (and even with poor rate, his burst has so many instances of damage that he surely will somewhen crit). I love Thoma and finally dendro gave me a reason to build him!

Heizou Thoma Xingqiu and Nahida is what I'm running for my burgeon group. Super fun, especially since 2/4 of those are on the banner now!

Thoma xingqiu nahida and kuki for burgeon and hyperbloom damage. So thoma hits first with burgeon and the kukibloom after. Works well. Burst with everyone and let nahida or kuki go ham with normal attacks.

I played Razor EM in Abbys, and it was super fun!

I would never thought tht my lvl 80 Thoma could fit so perfectly with dendro. I already tested him during the previous abyss with your recommended team comp and abyss was instant deleted

Finally about time our male maid Thoma got some love. I really like Thoma burgeon a lot.

With the introduction of Dendro and Guilded Dreams, it means no character can ever really be bad anymore. You can just slap on an EM weapon, GD WITH EM/EM/EM, level 90 them and go to town. You can just completely ignore any kind of scaling they have for their abilities as well, since its all reaction damage, it's actually pretty cool. Like have you seen Shatterbloom Candace, it's really damn cool. Build her full EM, freeze someone and you can do a bunch of damage cause she shatters them, you can even do it with someone like Sayu, full EM, hydro infusion, freeze and shatter. Even Lisa is pretty great now, with her aggrivate/quicken builds because of full EM Gilded with EM weapons, and shes really good because her burst powers defense and her ascension stat is even EM. Going forward, EM is just gonna be the king stat and 100% Mihoyo is gonna start releasing enemies that fuck with you EM, like how the Knights and Corrosion came out to fuck with shields and energy draining enemies have been more apparent since the Hydro and Electro Vishaps.

Been using him with Childe recently and the rotation is not clunky at all. He's slightly underrated imo

I'd like to point out that his constellations, while not increasing your burgeon damage directly, can also be very helpful! Basically his c1, c2 and c4 help him with energy requirement/ burst uptime and his c6 can increase the damage of a hydro dps you might be using (Ayato/ Childe/ Kokomi). But a very great and enjoyable to watch guide!!

For Thoma mains, I recommend HP HP HP with substats for EM and ER. Now my thoma is 30k HP and 620EM and 185 ER. He is so tanky but also does 22k burgeon damage as well.

Thoma was my first limited banner pull and I loved him immediately. But for a long time, I couldn't raise him and by the time I could, he had already been overshadowed by the majority of my roster. I've been wanting to go back and fully raise him, and Dendro and your vid has given me the best reasons to do it now. Thank you! Can't wait to go blow stuff up with him 🤗🔥🥰

I love how kokomi is a good option even in burgeon teams, she became so versatile

I've leveled him to 80 recently because his burgeon comp works wonders, specially on farming books/artifact dungeon.

I got c4 Thoma and a bonus ginger water Thoma on my secondary while trying to get a Layla (which I didn't) so this video has perfect timing. I was actually already working on burgeon Thoma before and was farming for artifacts anyway (getting EM as a main stat is always a PAIN in the ass no matter what set). My only problem is getting enough ER for him but we'll get there eventually

before nahida, we had the camera event. maybe the new fungi-mon event will mimic how dehya's skill will work since leaks said something about her summoning a sword from a grave or something. possible she could be used for burgeon. that way her sword-pet takes the damage and has a auto-cool down.

I like how dendro is a turning point to many characters. I build Thoma simply coz I have his cons and he is handsome but I don't use him as much as I would like to. Then dendro came and I put him in the same team as Ayato. Same for Kuki, Barbara and Lisa. I don't use them but leveled them up coz I want to and now my Kuki working double in hyperbloom team

To be honest, I'm just trying to find an excuse to build Thoma over my other unbuilt characters. I'm pretty well off in Abyss, so I have freedom on whoever I can spend both primos and resources on.

Good; people need to hear this. My favorite team is yelan Mona(with Amber) nahida Thoma.

Thoma is great. I've been running him together with Nahida, Xingqiu and Kuki in a hybrid Burgeon/Hyperbloom comp. Kuki does a lot to heal all that self Burgeon damage.

yay! I finally pulled thoma from this banner and wanted to find a way to main him but didn’t want to kick out my (usually mdps) kokomi. now I can still play with both. :’D

I just tried a thoma burgeon team last night and oh boy it was fun. And with the new artifact set coming in 3.3, i cant wait to see how much better it gets. My thoma main butt is happy XD

i had an em thoma build on noblese but i stopped working on it when i heard about the new paradise lost set, its got the same 80 em 2pc stat as gilded and boosts burgeon damage so I'm curious if this will be even better than gilded. regardless i still have to go back the deepwood domain for alhaitham so getting another em gilded set (current one is on kuki) may be a bit easier but i am deff holding off till we get to see the new set on him.

I'm thinking about a team with Toma as the activ driver, Nahida, 6C Diona and Xingqiu. With Toma on field he can get +200EM and +250 EM from Diona and Nahida. Also he needs less ER because he is catching the particles. And as a bonus you can watch his beautiful normal attacks.

I actually got him in 2.2 and built him because I like him as a character. I've been using him in the abyss ever since. Now that dendro is released I'm so glad I built him so now I have a solid burgeon team because of him❤️

Hmm, this inspired me to build Thoma. I already have a hyperbloom team with on-field Kokomi, Nahida, Xingqiu, and Kuki as the hyperbloom trigger. Using the same team, I can swap Kuki and her artifacts with Thoma and it becomes a burgeon team. Hyperbloom for single target, burgeon for aoe. Plus, both Kuki and Thoma also benefit from hydro resonance.

I got Thoma recently and decided to go all out on him cause I got sick of xiangling and amber's loud asses. It's been weird since he is my 1st shielder I decided to use. But I've been using him and Barbara + Nahida and it's been fun. I read somewhere this was called a burgeon team and decided to look it up (i'm very new to the game), that's how I wound up in this video. Thank you for the explanation!

Most people who play with Dendro in general will see alot of pay off by farming that domain because several charcters can use it extremely well even if there is a new set coming soon. I'm still farming it after over 1000 resin 😢 haven't seen any EM main stats on either set once for 5 stars.

thoma makes me excited whether alhaitham will make burgeon viable as well if alhaitham does end up having a lot of dendro application while dps like ayaka

Childe, Thoma, KoKomi and thoma is what im running in the abyss and it was so good

at one point i got so distracted by thoma blinking at me every other seconds lol he looked so cute sitting there like a good boy he is

I advise you to try physical dmg Thoma. I'm running him with crescent pike and Echoes of an Offering 4x set. He is doing more with normal attack sequence, than this burgeon explosion. He's really cool as a physical dps :)

actually in this abyss f12 chamber 2, with enemy have aura on them, you can abuse nahida tri karma and xingqiu rainsword to make as much as seed and go with diluc burgeon. last slot can be zhongli for comfort or diona for more EM buff (if c6) or other dendro if you can play without healer or shielder.

People overlook that Xinyans Pulsing shield also can be a good burgeon enabler if you build her EM. It has Razor Thundering Furry energy but it does work.

I can see she can works too. But her pulsing shield is limited by how many enemies getting hit with her skill unless you have her C2 which is you can trigger her lvl 3 shield off burst CD. While thoma is only limited by his ER which it is easier to handle.

They don't overlook it they just now that it isn't worth using because she is 100 times less practical. For her Pyro pulses to exist she needs "to hit 2/3 enemies" for it to work and we all know how that usually ends. Plus of her shield breaks she'll litteraly do nothing in that team.

What I hope though is that they increase the burgeon damage limit to 3 instead of 2 so that it'll be as competitive as hyperbloom. Because let's be real here, hyperbloom is better. they don't hurt you as much, the elements used to trigger them (electro, hydro and dendro) work sooo well together and don't cause unwanted reaction such as burning. they are homing and hit flying enemies. Giving burgeon a higher damage limit will increase its aoe advantage over hyperbloom. My husband (triple crowned thoma) needs this.

Been using Albedo, Thoma, Tighnari and Xingqiu and they do WONDERS, especially when dendro cores just explode..

UGHH. I am still deciding. I have the catch almost R5 and a Xiangling. But I'm husbando lover and Thoma with my Childe sounds amazing. I don't have Nahida however, and the application from the traveler/Collee is too slow for him I believe. Tighnari ofcourse is more of a onfield, wich defeats the purpose of using Childe trying to proc things. I'm going to be honest, I lack in the pyro department. I have Yanfei, but she is a main dps and can't be used for the pyro application, and the other one is Bennet, but that is mostly quickswap then and once again, Childe is not useful then. Should I wait for a dendro unit that can eventually apply dendro fast enough (other than nahida) for childe? (Will this ever happen idk, I do want Baizhu though, I hope he is a healing/dendro applier). Or would it be smarter to just build Xiangling because broken off field support.

Recently I've been having so much fun with hutao burgeon with thoma, xinqiu and collei

Underrated character due to bad first impression of him from release. He was designed to shield hutao in the first place in vv shred team and end up being buffed this strong in burgeon team. Off-field character that can applied element based on melee atk are always futureproof like thoma,xingqiu, and beidou. I still would only build him if you got his c4. If not his ER and HP stats will not be balanced for proper build.

Kitain cross spear actually beats Favonius lance in terms of energy generation, at the cost of not being able to battery your team. Even if you're running high ER and let Thoma collect the white particles on field... Kitain cross spear will still give more energy without having to collect particles. And Kitain gives EM on top of that.

I wonder if nahida's and sucrose's EM buffs stack. Also I think slotting in sucrose with dendro traveler works nice as well if you don't have nahida.

While excited for thoma it was sadly for the more conventional amplifying reactions specifically for the forgotten boy chongyun. Mans a normal attacker which benefits from stacking thomas shield and c6 buff while being able to melt ult hits . I looked at burgeon thoma a bit weirdly. I feel like you kinda gimp the thoma shield value by kicking it in the face with seed damage. Bad enough shield needs stack but its also taking phat damage at the same time. For my burgeon needs i came up with something different. I ended up using yanfei dps instead. I teamed her up with yelan, barbra, and collei. If other dendro options come out i might swap collei but it does what it has too. Double hydro buffs yanfei c4 shield. Yanfei being a ranged aoe damage dealer means she can safely proc burgeon seeds from a distance with her own shield incase she is too close. I think if anything it looks pretty similar to how a quickbloom team works, where its equal parts quicken and hyperbloom reactions. In the case for this team you end up getting a healthy mix of vaporize, burning, and burgeon, due to all the elements going off at the same time.

i feel like dehya is gonna be a burgeon-focused unit as well, but more on the offensive side compared to thoma

If you're reading this, please note that there's a better set of artifacts for Thoma that was released 15 days after this video got uploaded, that set being Flower of Paradise Lost

He's pretty decent for shield bot before dendro and he's now amazing for reaction after dendro.

What about scarlet witch? It gives a 40% burgeon dmg bonus, and you can still run EM main stats.

So in laymans terms, could you explain how to use burgeon with Thoma? It seems Dendro character is what is out there. I've been using Tignari, Barbara and Yanfei. Tignari applies dendro, then Barbara attacks creating the Bloom then Yanfei attacks causing the Burgeon. How is this done with Thoma? Thanks for help.

I just got him on the current banner. I was running bennet for my pyro for burdgeon team and when I got thoma I was like wait a damn minute he applies pyro to basic attacks and sheilds 🙊 Looks like a match made in heaven

hey dragonfly, have you checked out burgeon teams with bennett burst and full em kazuha? kazuha will target benny's burst to infuse pyro, and they are both insane buffers for an on field hydro unit.

the burgeon damage will be based on kazuha's em, and not bennetts

Good job. Makes me wanna build up Tohma now. But I do wonder, is 4 piece guilded dreams the best on him for triggering Burgeon? I wonder if 4 piece Witches set is usable. Anyone know for sure?

I’m waiting for Ayato rerun, so my team for now is Thoma, Nahida, Xingqiu and Kuki. The best team I ever played. The only issue with it that there is no bow character. Nahida can reach some flying enemies, but bow would do much better job.

I use prototype starglitter on my thoma and i'm waiting for the new bloom/hyperbloom/burgeon dmg boosting artifact set.

Apart from Energy recharge is it possible to heal Thoma with the help of artifacts.

I still prefer using kazuha in intergrassional (Childe, Bennett, Kazuha, Nahida) since kazuha already builds em regardless while bringing buffs, debuffs, sub dps and most importantly CC which is invaluable in a heavily aoe based comp with childes true quadratic scaling and burgeon's increased seed generation in aoe. Not to mention he grows in em making his burgeons do more dmg. Additionally intergrassional has a lot of front loaded dmg which is generally the best kind of dmg in the vast majority of situations.

Is Layla shield power creep on diona shield or Toma Also? Not worth snipe copy 1 Layla? If I have c6 toma good character and shield?

Yanfei xinqiu dendro traveler and any healer (you don't even need cuz the explosion is being trigger from far away)

I’m using a Nahida Venti Xingqiu Thoma team and, let me tell you, it is incredible. I actually run 2 Hp% pieces instead of 3x EM, giving his shield enough health to last the burgeon explosions and enemy damage while under the damage reduction from Xingqiu’s swords. I’ve actually been lucky enough to pull an Emblem set that allows me to run Venti without a sacrificial weapon, so I use the Jade Cutter on him. That allows me to use whatever HP% main or sub stats he gets to increase his damage *and* healing percent, so my active character’s get back around 4k health when his swords deactivate. Venti provides crowd control, and a bit of damage boost for whatever element gets infused. It’s actually great, as infusing hydro nets me more cores that I can pop with Thoma. it also means any bloom and burgeon explosions affect any enemies stuck in the tornado. Finally, if I ever manage to get my Nahida to C2, the crit that burning gets access to would make a fire tornado insane, I think.

I have a level 80 Thoma team with nahida, fischl and nilou or xinqiu and its so much fun to play 😀

there's so many teams that need Xingqiu, hard to find a good team that doesn't use him for the second rotation in abyss.

It’s also fun to think that thoma being good with burgeon likely wasn’t planned unlike kuki since he came out early during inazuma with no elemental mstery scaling

What about the Scarlet Sands polearm? I got it unexpectedly while aiming for Venti's Bow and now I have it sitting there unused and this current banner ended up with some Thoma cons, would it be good or Kitain is just better all-around?

If you can get enough ER to run scarlet sands then it can work. Kitain is so good because it gives both EM and also gives him energy to help with his energy needs

I like Thoma in burgeon. Also I heard about kazuha + bennet as a burgeon duo with dendro and hydro. Kazuha swirls fire and blows fruits

Ever since Dendro released I've been using an AyaThoma burgeon team and, although my Thoma still has mostly his shielder build, he consistently deals 13K to 21K burgeon reactions. And alongside my Ayato they're literal beasts. They obliterate everything together and I usually have Zhongli for the flexible slot. I'm still building both my Thoma and my Ayato, tho Ayato is probably my best built character among all. I've always loved Thoma. He was one of my first characters (I started playing less than a year ago) and he literally carried me alongside Kaeya until AR45 so I've always felt a little bit upset when people trash talk about him and say that his shield sucks and is the worst in the game when actually he has the second best shield... they just don't know how to play Thoma.
