Tank tracks are often black because they have rubber pads on them to protect road surfaces from metal tracks. But if you look at this tank you can see the links, so it seems unlikely that they have rubber pads on. Also, I doubt anyone in the 40k universe is worrying about what their tanks are doing to roads.

Not true at all, they are mostly black/dark reddish brown because they are made mostly of blacksteel (steel which is not post treated). Sadly that stuff starts rusting immediatly after coming in contact with water what then turns them into a dark reddish brown. Rubber pads are mostly used for driving on roads in peacetime and are not meant for going into battle. I paint my tracks a very very dark brown with some rusty and dusty spots. After that, smear the tracks mit some dark metal pigments on the edges and high points to immitate some wear and tear from hard surfaces.

Well done kiddo! I love hearing more about the various histories, from the lore to the periodicals to the history of the franchise itself. I think the tank looks great, and I would love to see your birthday treasure especially if you demonstrate more non-metallic metal techniques! Today my non-artistic, non-gaming husband discovered the rather gruesome names of model paints and is questioning my sanity anew, which I always find deeply satisfying, but when I told him that’s what Dave at Tabletop Time uses he decided it can’t be all bad- because no one with your beautiful hair could be truly evil! Have fun at Pax, kiddo, and keep ‘em rollin’.

I actually have a similar weathering and battle damage philosophy. To me they're space marines, they maintain their gear very well (mostly) and any damage is from the environment around them like paint being stripped from sand or falling chunks of masonry. Just nice to see something other than the traditional rust effects

I am so glad i watched this. The screen at 5:12 taught me a valuable lesson. That second hand Rhino I bought last year, where the guy had been very clever to customise it with original Land Raider parts wasn't kitbashing a homebrew... He was building a Sabre... I own a sabre! (Sans pen cannon sadly) but otherwise he did a bang up conversion job... Now I kinda really want to honour it though, by building a modern one with the newer rhino kits... and leaving that one as it is... :) Trouble is I'm already filling my ranks now with 10,000 year old tech.... Whuups.... Thanks for sharing!

Actually, the idea of the Sabre Tank Destroyer appeals to me because it is really a purpose-made tank destroyer, rather than a Laser Vindicator-style retrofit. Furthermore, it is an interesting combination of old (cannon-based) and new (missile-based) tank destroyer concepts.

I'm new to TableTop Time and I'm new to these games as well. All through this video, I was thinking that I wish they had a video for beginners about each game (or whatever it's called) and had a cheat sheet for it on their website. Before I posting on here I decided to check to see if they had a website and if it had info for newbies. I learn by reading. Although, i like watching videos, if i want to retain info, I need to read it. Guess what I found!! My favorite thing to accompany any TV show or other series type thing. They've got a Fandom Wiki for their stuff! Way to go! I've been so lost on most of your videos. Wishing I knew more. I keep an old phone just to look up info on TV series / Movies we watch. Almost always, the best resource is Fandom Wikis! I can't wait to start watching TTT previous videos with TTT's wiki ready for me! Thank you. PS, I would love to know other resources as well. There may be better options out there. I'm used to Fandom's Wikis, but if there is a better info source I'd love to know.

I’d love to see you go through the ages, each edition, version, etc, various models or stories from each edition, plus painting up something fun. At the end you would have maybe a squad or even an army with different models from different eras! Plus you can go deep on the stories from that time period, I don’t know the specific rulings or even if this is accurate, but like the 2nd edition Chaplain being flung from a rhino, taking a huge amount of damage and activating a specific piece of war gear that blinded large portions of the enemy army.

Some thoughts on the HH2.0 sabre in game: don't sleep on the autocannon. The combination of sunder, rending 5+ and twin linked means that it is actually pretty reliable for taking down medium armor in conjunction with some sabre missiles. Don't forget that the high movement of the sabre can be used to get side armor shots more easily than, say, a predator. That loadout is made very strong in Iron Warriors. The volkite saker is also a strong choice because you can maximize the reaction potential for return fire since it is s6 and therefore a defensive weapon. Lastly, the neutron blaster is also concussive 3, which can absolutely cripple the weapon skill of anything you mught want to charge that turn, if the shot goes through. I think every loadout has a role to play.

Tonk :) But seriously, everyone I've spoken to in a global heresy discord agrees - the sabre is an excellent tank. While the autocannon might not have as much use as it could, the saker and the nuetron do more than enough to justify the sabre's existence. Additionally, some people enjoying taking all 4 sabre missiles as a sort of single use shotgun tactic, annihilating anything that comes close to the tonk. Also the sabre is adorable. Also I hae read British anti-tank manuals from ww2, and such tactics are absent. The soviets also did not have these tactics initially in ww2, they only learnt them after kursk. The British tactic was to set up a multi-layered ambush, the initial ambush would get the enemy tanks to move onto mines or further ambushes rather than hault them in their initial positions. While early soviet tactics only attacked the rear and centre of the collum to force it to continue driving forward into the sights of more guns.

always love to see more Heresy content! You're not wrong, the sabre is in a weird spot. That said, it is a cheap way to fill up some fast attack slots. I find that squadroned works best for volkite or autocannon loadouts to just bully whatever you shoot them at, whereas the neutron laser is good on single sabres to harass enemy armor. I like the autocannon; losing a strength does kind of suck, but it more than makes up for it with the Rending (5+) and Sunder, giving you a decent chance of still at least glancing even heavy armor (that often is not going to be able to Return Fire react with anything that can hurt it!) I have also had good success harassing dreadnoughts with the autocannons, but that could also just be my dice haha. My volkite needs are also met elsewhere in the force, otherwise I would likely consider them more heavily; volkite is never a bad option and is generally the coolest one! Well done on the scheme as well! You are a madman for painting a tank in NMM but you pulled it off in an efficacious way. Looking forward to seeing more!

You know what puzzles me? In 30K, Space Marines knew how to make all manner of super tank destroyers and what not, all based on the Rhino Chassis, but they forgot how to build a Razorback. They had to wait until the end of the Horus Heresy conflict, before they found the plans again, that told them how to put twin linked laz cannons on the roof of a Rhino.

So thought i would throw in my thoughts on the sabre tank. Played a few games so far with them and the neutron blaster with multi melta combo is devastating against armour, Movement 16 and a fast vehicle so can should that ordnance cannon without penalty. It's weapon range seems to be 24 inches unless you rock the volkite but with a 16 inch movement means it will pretty much catch anything it wants to. The autocannons are better than they initially look like on paper as they have rending as well (if memory serves correctly) so there is a chance they can still do some damage to the bigger tanks in the game. Either way they are cool little tanks and for the points cost they are amazing, kinda wish they were in plastic

For me I’d love to see some of the old guarD models and even a new faction called the inquisition get access to things like the inquisitorial storm troopers as well as things like the chimedon and chimerax or even the old tauros and tauros venators

Real world tank tracks tend to be hardened rubber with pins holding them together so black would be a far better choice honestly.

If you look at the original model of the sabre closely you will notice that whereas the track sponsons do , ion fact, come from a Rhino, the hull itself is the top part of a Land Raider hull.
