Why this retired farmer plants trees | Regenerative Agriculture in Spain

Ecosia is the search engine that plants trees. Get on Ecosia and be climate active every day: www.ecosia.org/
Find out more about Ecosia’s tree-planting project in Spain:
blog.ecosia.org/spain/
Farmer Manuel is over 60 years old and fully retired, yet he continues to plant trees. Not for himself, but for future generations. He remembers how rich the landscapes of his home region once were - now he feels it’s his turn to give back to nature and to those coming after him.
Thanks to follower Druidward for noticing:
At 4:15, the translation is wrong. He said: "[...] we have a book of 70 PAGES on practices of regenerative agriculture." , not "70 PRACTICES".

There is no great vision here, no new thinking, its all just plant trees, simplistic system thinking and there will be no different results to what others have tried in the past to heal the environment. The country of Spain and any other country in the world that are located in a brittle environment, will keep deteriorating until they understand how to deal with complexity.

The ocean is not natural. This is all the water from all the forests burnt, cut down, or source of water exposed to the air when the mountains were destroyed by erosion. Then the glaciers melting with all the pyrocumulus created by the fire of the humans... You have NO IDEA how the earth has been destroyed, this is far beyond what you can imagine. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6yGypmxc6a3gKw.html

So inspiring, so hopeful. I'm in Pennsylvania, USA... feelin' that international kinship... The story seems so similar throughout many parts of the world, in short... loss of life from the landscape, whether it soil life, plants, animals, aquatic/marine life, or people. I stand with everyone out there who believes we can turn these trends around. Let's work together, meaning people as well as the other life forms on the planet, and do our best to bring life back to our landscapes, establish a better relationship with nature in which humans are a member of a very diverse community, and rediscover the power and abundance of nature. Thank you for your work and best of luck!! 🎄🌳🐄❤️

If everyone made some effort to plant trees, plant tree seeds and got others involved in this simple activity, our devastated areas would recover. But we seem to leave it to the few, like this man, to do all the heavy lifting, and it's a shame. We don't realize that our sheer numbers mean things get done, then we don't have to wait for the government or special groups to fix things that need it. People think sometimes that if they don't get paid to do something, they're not going to do it. We should get over that. The reward is in the doing. I see areas that had hurricanes years ago, still sitting in piles of downed trees, destroyed structures, debris, trash, etc. And I wonder why the people of that area don't come out and spend a couple of days cleaning it up. Fifty or so people can do an astounding amount of work in a short time. But so many say, "Why should I? It's not my debris. It's not my home. It's not my street. It's not my problem." And even if it is, they often still don't do it, waiting for someone to come and do it for them. We miss the pleasure of accomplishment when we take that attitude.

one of the most important actions for regenerative agroforestry production would be utilizing swales on contours and ridgepoint dams and dams connecting swales through out the system and growing staple food trees on those swales and around the dams preventing as much evaporation an encourgaing as much land rehydration as possible.... there is no thriving life without ample water Geoff Lawtons work along with others with Permaculture is thee most vital thing to save ourselves from ourselves!

Great work! This is so inspiring, hopefully younger generation can move back to the countryside and work the land to improve soil health.

More and more farmers, not least in the UK where I live, are learning at last that regenerative agriculture is the only way forward to grow food sustainably. I know several farmers who can testify to that. We have a responsibility to put right the mistakes of the past. Using the Ecosia browser for internet searches helps.

I wish more people cared about preserving nature because we only have one home here on earth and we should definitely not let it rot like this

It would be awesome to incorporate Argentina in the Ecosia system! We are having critical times with the burning fields, desertification and droughts.

I’m pleased to say at my college we will be doing a tree planting assessment very soon. We are planting cherry trees and there’s 6 of us so it’s 1 per person. It’s not much but I’m glad to at least help first hand via college besides my searches on Ecosia for which I’ve done 415
