Had my 809 now for over a year, I wear it everyday at work in a ICU and shower with it. Not one problem with it. It has survived the pandemic so far and the excessive amount of alcohol... on my hands.

Mine too is quite precise : +2 seconds per day !!! But the difference with my black one, it is the movement version : the tan is 7S26B, and the black one is 7S26C, and this one is very lazy -15 seconds per day.
I've owned this for the last 2 years. Perfect daily wear for work. I work in an industrial area. Set it once, wear it everyday, keeps on running well. My fav is SNK 809, the black one coz it has black day date disc so it doesn't distract from the dial colour. The strap is crap, so changed it into nato strap. This piece especially the black one is really a strap monster. Easily can dress it up by giving it a nice dark brown leather strap. Or giving it military look like I did with green nato strap.
I have the cream one as well. A very modestly wearable size (although I enjoy larger watches as well) and a sweet combination of flieger and field watch. The bead blasted finish is well done, and the matching hardware on the strap brings it all together.
Recently just bought the black one actually! I’m a beginner and this will be my first automatic. I was sceptical at first with the limited water resistant...but I usually take my watches off when I’m swimming anyways. At the moment it is still being shipped to me and I haven’t received it. But now I’ve seen two reputable watch channels re-visit and review this watch this week! Makes me more excited and happy about my purchase! Thanks for the awesome video!
I have bought probably 8 of those in the past 3 years. I usually put a sapphire crystal, new dial, and nice strap on them, then give them away to friends.

An added note, all of the watches I modded and gave away were to people who didn't have or in a few cases had never owned a watch.
I recently did a collection purge, and kind of went back to basics picking up an SNK809, always wanted to see it in the metal. You just don't get that kind of quality, design and especially size outside Seiko 5s. Really love it, makes you appreciate the simple things.

I'm doing this right now and I'm very tempted to sell my srpg33 and buy a snk809
The SNK809 was my first mechanical watch too! I remember buying it off eBay from some seller in Asia. The crystal is scratched as heck, and I dropped it onto a hard floor once. The watch rotor even came loose at one point, so I had to open the back to tighten the screw. Through all that, it's still ticking :)
The SNK803 was my first automatic, awesome watch. Be careful though. It gets scary after the first one.

I bought a 807 as my first automatic a couple years ago and it’s still my favorite watch. Of course after a caliper of years of daily wear it has more than a few dings, at one point I decided to polish the case, chronically loose counterbalance, etc. Seriously considering picking up an 809 just to have one that isn’t all banged up. And I agree, even at almost $100 it still a great deal.
I gave one to each of my kids (6 and 9 years old) and let them wear them everywhere. In fact the Seiko bands don't fit, and they loved the idea of Speidel stretch bracelets-- to I put each one on an old Speidel for them. they wear them everywhere- swimming, playing-- you name it. They have survived so far. GREAT little watches. (and infinitely modd-able)
I got one three years ago because of a KZread recommend..love it
My snk803 was my first automatic and may still be my favorite. I just put it on a green canvas strap and it looks perfect.

I've owned a SNK809 for a couple of years and I love it. It is considered a field watch but to me it looks a feels more like a hybrid between a field watch and a Flieger. Definitely a must own for Seiko and military watch lovers.
I have the 807 (blue) on a distressed brown leather strap. I spent 3 weeks touring France with it recently. It was great. Just a very enjoyable, reliable small watch, rugged, unflashy and yet cool. Mine keeps good time (about 4 secs a day), so I didn't need to adjust the time at all on my trip.
I also love the polished section of the case between the lugs. A very nice touch. Details, details.
I got the 805, I put it on a Olive nato strap to fit my 8.5 inch wrist. I bought it specifically to be a beater watch and I wear it to work everyday, it’s just the right size and weight. Keep good time and will run two days on reserve. Great Watch!
The 807 was my re entry into mechanicals. Also bought the black version on bracelet. I like the hybrid field flieger feel a lot.
Own the black thanks to TGV's recommendation and love it!! (My first watch none the less!)

What was the “one more thing”? The suspense is killing us!!! :) thanks for another cool video.
Your videos convinced me to get the Blue one first. Six months later I got the cream version. Sometimes People ask me if I'm wearing a Breitling!! ... doesn't get much better than that. As much as I tried the original straps, I've got one on a NATO, and one on a distressed butterscotch alligator. I smeared black nail polish in calculated areas. Its Fantastic. Thanks again Mark!!

Me too. I have two of them. I bid on both on eBay and expected to win one, I won both. I kept one with the original band, and the other that came with a horrible Fossil nato style strap which I immediately swapped for a proper one in a better colour scheme, in my opinion. I love these because they’re small, and I’m a big guy. But the watch doesn’t get in my way like my SKX007 does. The crown doesn’t dig into my wrist, and I couldn’t care if someone thinks it’s a girls watch or not. Who cares. The tough little thing does the job. It’s one of the best watches on the market. Here’s why. 1. Smaller and lighter than “a real mans watch” 2. Doesn’t get in your way when working 3. Has day and date 4. Keeps relatively accurate time 5. Affordable without being cheap 6. Various colours make it easy to find a favourite colour
The one with sand color on a green nato strap is my daily beater. Also have the blue one. Love them.
The snk805 was my first mechanical watch. My first born, which ultimately led to the Hamilton Khaki I'm wearing now.
I completely agree with this, Seiko SNK80x series is so awesome and so incredible for the price, we call it the Seiko Military :)
Great little watch I bought mine a couple of years ago for 50 bucks! Now that was a deal!!

Might wanna get one of these before they're all gone, I got the blue one, (snk807) and have never looked back.

@@Visitor555 Seiko has a completely different supply chain than Cadisen. Seiko, the manufacturer, sells to distributors, who then sell to retailers like Mark. I'm pretty sure Cadisen is a manufacturer, who sells directly to customers via ali express. There's two less levels of middlemen making money thus the price difference. Even though Cadisen makes fine watches especially for the price, you can't really compare a company like Seiko which has been around since the 1800s and has significant horological history to Cadisen, which doesn't even have it's own website.

two years later, this watch is a bit harder to find, but still attainable for $100... for now. I'm glad I picked one up and I'm actually looking to get some of the other colors while I can still get them for a good price. It's a tremendous value for only $100. Kind of hard to believe
WOW... I almost picked up one of these on amazon for 40 bucks just a few months ago... that is a crazy rise in price. Wish I would have pulled the trigger!
Thanks love your channel Richard
I got the black 809. Weird. It’s the most popular one and I love black. So I convinced myself that was the color for me. But that cream! Just looks so good. The second hand with the matching cream just really pops. Feels really unique to me. Might have to get it also.
I have both the black and the cream ones. Love them. For me the cream one is best. Hard to say why but I believe it is due to the black outline on the hands. Somehow makes it more elegant.
I think I'm on my 3rd black model but my original case. Years ago (10+) I was out of town on business and came across a t-shirt shop that also did watch repair. Of course, I had to go in and see what that was all about. I asked if he could put a sapphire crystal in my watch. He said, sure. I ended up leaving it with him and he mailed it to me a week or so later. Might have cost $30 or so. When I wear one out, I get a new one and swap the movement into the case with the sapphire crystal. It's my beater watch and I love it!
Had the green one for years, great watch, finish, crown, strap, thickness. Have not been gentle and it has not missed a beat. Wish they made it in a bigger size because it's getting hard to read.
this was my first automatic, but have since discontinued wearing it daily, had it on a nato strap and it got lightly snagged and pulled one of the watch lug pins right out, back to my fake rolex for daily use again, i prefer a stainless strap for daily use as i work on the water find it drys quicker and is more durable for snags etc
I bought mine a minute ago in navy blue SNK807 ordered via online. I have own Seiko Skx007j and Snzg11j1 model. No regrets. Happy me.
I have the 803 and the 809. I love em! BTW when will the islander aviator watches be back in stock?? Were they a limited run?
I have five of this model in different variations. Three of them are the field model as pictured. They were the best value in automatics and I have had no problems of any kind with them. Of the ones I have, my favorite is the tan one. I wear them to work constantly and have for many years. They seem to be indestructible. My job is brutally physical as I work in a large garden center. They receive a great deal of abuse and have never let me down. I have had all of them for more than ten years and they have never been serviced.

Hello Marc. I have the 805 and just love the little bugger. It ran +9 s/d out of the box. Tightened the rotor as it was a bit wobbly and now it's only +5 s/d. I think I have to get the blue one for my younglings birthday as the F-91 W he got last year has gone missing.

Amazing performance
How's the durability on these? I've had a Seiko 8T67-00G0 quartz chronograph for a few years and it's great but a bit chunky and heavy for my skinny wrists, something smaller and more unisex like this would really suit me better. I don't need G-Shock levels of durability, but would this watch be able to stand up to a few dings against metal surfaces, motorcycle vibrations, festival moshpits, accidental drinks spillages etc.? The only other mechanical watch I owned was a Vostok Amphibia which I think had some QC issues because I took it in a pool once and it got completely ruined. I don't swim anymore so don't need massive water resistance but just saying I'm a little paranoid about automatics now 😅
No issue on sizes as it is the classic size for wrist watch for men..Rolex datejust also having 36 mm which looks more classic n better looking than the 41 mm model. I'm having dive watches of MM300 sbdx001, King Turtle, Willard, Panerai , Tag Heuer Aquaracer 43mm and a number of giant Gshocks. All these watches are 43 to 45mm and I still love wearing this 37 snk809! Looks great!
I bought the blue on Amazon a couple of years ago. Pretty sure it was in the low $50 dollars range. Can't hand wind so its a pain in the butt unless you wear it every day. I'd have to say the tan one does look the best.
I have 2 of these, the olive one and got the tan one for my wife, I modified them with double dome Safire crystals. 37mm makes a nice size for a women’s field watch.

So cool!
The SNK809 dial, with the hour markings on the smaller diameter inner ring and the minute markings on the larger diameter outer ring made so much sense, given that the hour hand is shorter and the minute hand is longer. So why did Seiko depart from this excellent arrangement with the SNZG15, merely because the case size was increased? Why not retain the SNK809s perfectly sensible dial layout?
Love all of them 💕

Bought 3 of these 5 years ago for $50 each. One for me and one for each of my two sons. Two black and one OD Green.
I hope Seiko keeps making these, I love them. Perhaps you know: I'm trying to find out whether the snk80x watches are military-STYLE watches, or whether they actually are (or were) standard military equipment. I'm also trying to find out whether anybody, in any line of work, actually needs to wear a watch any more. I know there are military guys who wear these and SAY that it's more than a fashion statement, but then, people SAY all sorts of things. I'd think that if a military watch was actually necessary today, the G-Shock would be the go-to long before anything mechanical.

Hi, Marc, thanks for a video on a timeless classic. 'Have the 807 and like countless others have said, it's the gateway drug to watches and horology. Case size may seem small, but it's got good wrist presence so I really don't think there's anyone that can't wear this watch. Only niggles would be the non-hack and non-hand wind, so in that regard an NH36 movement would have been perfect for me.

Hi Mark, do you know why the movement is unmarked as to where it is from? (ie, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan)
Still have my green and black dial. I bought an aftermarket black leather strap for my black dial, but found myself always drawn back to the green. The tan would look great on a green NATO. It would look a bit like my white dial Hamilton mechanical field.
