Yeah. He rarely has a bad game. Even when his having a stinker in terms of his offensive play, he still runs himself to the ground defensively and never gives up.

Martin Ødegaard is the spiritual leader of this group of players, as well as being nominated unanimously as the captain on the field. The thing you’re missing out on your little analysis essay is that from this season, MØ’s MO has been changed tactically, where he’s not only a pure 10 like your Maddisons who are one-dimensional with only G/A to go by to rate their games. Ødegaard’s challenge this year was to add totality to his midfield game, and boy has he brought it in spades. If you pool all his stats together: G/A, chance creation but also off the ball (Arsenal’s primary objective this season) like his pressing numbers and contribution to our overall rise in PPDA, his tackles and interceptions, ground duels won etc., then a clearer picture emerges of what he has been assigned to be: Arsenal’s orchestrator in all phases of play. A huge part of our solidity and midfield dominance is due to his immense work rate (account for his distance covered per game, for example), and the simple tactical change of him dropping back more to begin actions than only being the “pass before the pass”. The term that’s being thrown around casually nowadays is “all-action midfielder”, and I can assure you a season later it won’t be that casual anymore. There’s a bit more ceiling left to the player’s full talent, and he’s about to rocket through it. COYG.

I've only been to one arsenal game at the emirates and it was last year against Southampton. It was amazing watching odegaard up close. He was constantly directing vieira where to be. Didn't even realize he was that vocal...

A special player, this guy leads by example. He's so elegant on the ball almost like he is able to glide.. we'll never sell him, this season he has taken his game to a whole new level. One of the best in the world at the moment, the way he presses constantly is so impressive. My captain.

Only concern is that now he is so good he’ll need rest and coverage especially going into next season when every other team will surely get stronger. Hoping Vieira or smith Rowe will be able to fill the gaps.

I feel like Odegaard is misunderstood. He's a decent dribbler, passer, goal scorer, all round attacker... But his real unique world class skill is his determination and the way he presses. He forces the opponent to make bad passes for 90+ minutes, he is always very committed. He is the Sweinstiger of slick technical 10's... My Captain!

Just wanted to add, when the sofaanalysts keep comparing Ode to DeBruyne time and time again, remember he still has 7-8 seasons to entertain, grow and improve UNTIL he is at DB's age or equal in number of seasons. Meaning 32 years approx. Just my 2 cents. The only thing that ODE lacks to be THE best in terms of assists is basically only due to how many chances those on the receiving end needs to actually score which is a lot. Seems pretty ignorant to blame him for that, still he keeps on providing those assists like on an continually running assembly line. Anyway, don't know any other team in the league that has the number of players involved in scoring their goals in general. At this time it seems working ok for arsenal, probably good for the overall spirit in the team as well. Still one could dream about getting a pure class clinical striker that maybe puts 1 of 2, 1 of 3 in the back of the net. I see some mentions that Juve guy, Vlahovic or something close. As well as Isak. The latter could be an interesting one and maybe a better fit for Arsenal, since Odegaard knows him well from their seasons together in Real Sociedad. Oh well, I'm done. 8:00 become? Martin Odegaard already is an Arsenal great. Arteta knew exactly what he was doing selecting him as captain. He was showing the players who you need to be to play for this club. You need the highest technical ability, tactical understanding, AND that non-stop motor, that DOG in you who doesn't stop running until we win the ball back.

Odegaard has become Reverse-Xhaka. The comments on this vid show how overrated he has become 😂 Best captain of the Emirates era, tremendous workrate, but he is nowhere near the elites. Not even close to being one of our best players. Invisible in all games against City. Invisible at Old Trafford. Invisible at Spurs away. invisible at Porto, Sevilla, PSV away. Invisible against Bayern. Can't remember one game where everyone else was poor and he dragged us over the line. Saka, Rice, Saliba, Benny Blanco, Raya, Havertz, Martinelli, Timber- All more important for us than O. Saka, Rice & Saliba especially are levels above him. They're top 3 itw in their position. Odegaard isn't.
