The price tag was definitely up there, but it was a really high quality suit and looked awesome, and with the amount of time and effort that I’m sure was put into it, it’s very deserved.

Fun fact :D Some fur suits are every expensive depending on the material, especially custom made ones! They can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on how they were made, their material, the time they took, and how they work (like moving ears,tails,etc) There has been a fur suit head sold for 23K dollars called the “Roar dragon” Made by: Zaranthus Dragon Is it entirely relevant? No but it’s still something cool

No joke, I’ve watched a lot of tutorial videos on how makers make fur suits, cause I never see myself being in a position to afford to buy one and- It’s intimidating. I went to art university but damn son- And I’m only even just contemplating the fursuit head! If I ever get the courage to buy/find the materials and try? No shot my first one is going to be very good, if I can even finish it. It takes so long to make and fur suit makers inherently have had to make multiple on their own before even getting to the point of being able to commission, which. Wow. Amazing people, glad to see when they get properly compensated for their work and skill. :’) To make a fursuit you basically have to be skilled in drawing/designing, sculpting, sewing and textiles. It’s intense.

Chunk it into steps and so far it isn't too bad. The 100% worst part for me has been actually trying to design the ref sheet (which I never actually finished even one view of). I'm also using a construction hard hat as a base, so I don't have to worry as much about fit, and while yes, I've got a fair amount of sewing under my belt, I also have this annoying tendency to make things WAY harder than they needed to be. For instance, moving jaw (which coincidentally is made easier by chinstraps made for hard hats).

It is VERY intense, but man so rewarding. I'm super intimidated by fursuit heads, but recently I made essentially a head lite! I edited a basic cat mask (fully replacing the ears), patterned, lined, and furred it over the course of a full week. And man, seeing my little Puddle come to LIFE once that fur was on... I've never tried any drugs but I bet this was better. If you're intimidated by all the sculpting like me, maybe a premade base/mask would help you too! (Just know, if you use a canvas/cardboard mask like I did... don't put ANY tape directly on it. I kind of skinned the mask ^^' and I used masking tape!)

Go for it. Keep a look out for Fursuit makers having a clear out of remnants of faux fur as it can be a way to save a lot on making a first partial. I was daunted by the thought but I have made my first partial suit. It's not perfect but I made it. With every single hand stich that has gone into it, dreams, hopes and desires have been stitched in to bringing my character to life. It is a rewarding project.

This furry is my favorite no matter if my friends call me weird

Ik this has been some months but I'm curious what the conversion rate is for y'all's currency to USD, like how much of one is required to reach a full dollar or equivalent in the other currency? Asking because I'm someone considering going into fursuit making but unsure if I really wanna go through the effort commissions take, but y'know, there's always a chance and I actually don't know if commissions outside of one's country is viable for either party due to conversion rates but I wouldn't mind knowing what's cheap vs expensive in other currencies just in case it ever comes up some time down the line, likely years from now

It’s honestly crazy but completely reasonable for the amount of money fursuits cost, I think it’s completely worth it to spend that much money on something so amazing and so well out together!

I honestly hope celebrities don’t put us out there and bring unwanted attention to us more than we already have, a lot of us are outsiders looking for companionship and others are here for fun

Not hating on the price at all! But I really hope the buyer gets a full-suit as an extra add on. The $22,000+ definitely doesn't leave the maker in the negative for cash if they add that on as a bonus. I just feel a partial doesn't warrant that kind of price unless there was some sort of rush job/outstanding circumstance that the buyer placed upon the maker. But that's just my opinion. Props on the buyer though, definitely wish I had that kind of money lol.

The high price was probably because of the hype ppl created when talking about it and making art of it. Its not that much the purchase of the fursuit but the full rights of a character many ppl have found interest in. Kinda in a way as if u were buying the rights for Mickey Mouse's ownership.

Well, it was a premade auction! There's no rush job, it's already DONE so the buyer is kind of paying to get it instantly. I consider most of the price to be the design & character itself, like the first reply kind of says. Maybe just the supplies and work would only cost

Another thing that factors in to the cost of fursuit making is the cost of materials. I wanted to just make a fun head and used a halloween mask as a base and the cost is already up to $90 and I am not even finished yet!

That's called a mini partial! You can definitely shop around different makers, but know experience = price. Less experience (amateur maker) means lower price! It *can* also mean less quality, but it absolutely can also surprise you. ^^

It was an auction and if you get a couple or more people determined to get the item bidding the price can easily climb.

Knowing who you are underneath the suit, you wrapped in duct tape just sounds like it would be hilarious to look at 🤣 It sounds like a really weird thing to have to go through. Man, that fursuit is wild though. Love the design, and absolutely, the rarity and the name will have definitely pushed the price up.

I do get why they cost as much as couple thousand € or $ Got my own Partial (Head, Paws, Tail) for little less than 1000€. I was trying to find a small maker with a talent and a style that would fit my character. Those young talented artists will never be known if you don't support them :)

People can be wasting 22 grand on a single fursuit while I be spending 50 mil on 2 locomotives and starting a leasing company so railroads can lease my engines for use while I can charge 30 grand per lease and make more money meaning more engines more leasing more money and more buisness

Materials, especially quality materials, are expensive. It was roughly $500 in materials for my mini-partial, not including the equipment and other sewing/painting materials I already owned. It isn't an easy thing to make, either. On top of the cost of material, you're paying for the time and skill of the maker. Some makers are full-on businesses, and the money doesn't just go to them, it goes to rent/utilities for the workspace. If you want something cheaper, there are plenty of one-person, inexperienced makers out there. Etsy and Dealer's den can be a good place to start looking
