Next video: HOW A SUPPORT SKARNER CLIMBED TO CHALLENGER using hex-tec flash + double stun - Skarner is the least played champion so no one knows how to play against it (source: leagueofgraphs) - Skaner has multiple stuns - Skarner is tankier than even Leona (surprised?) - Skarner's strength is high damage (like cassio/viktor) - Skarner's weakness is mobility (no dash) that is compensated as support champion with hex-tec flash and always in fog of war - with teleport summoner all other enemies during early, mid and late game need to play extremely save or they get teleported on + R + burst - Support Skarner presses the teleport button each minute and then cancels it with the B button - Skarner is so unpopular that even in master elo, enemies don't know that skarner in late game can spam many stuns in high succession during each fight - at the start at each game, he riles up his teammates to go for a cheesy lvl 1 gank with skarner as tank + burst (imagine, a freaking support is BURST, TANK all in one and once he's almost dead you get stunt again and the rest of your teammates finish it off)

@@losl5216 Lol yeah, because it is not something most people think about doing. It doesn't mean it is inherently bad though. A lot of meta picks, start off as off meta picks... Not to mention, people are less likely to know how to play against off meta picks, hence the advantage.

@@losl5216 yes but off meta isn't off meta because it's bad but because it needs some thinking instead of building the same build as every other champ in the same category there is a difference between off meta and trollpick take things like tank kog maw seems dumb but some time ago it was op or mathematicaly correct sett it was a dumb theorycraft that ended up being op... and we can go on and on most off meta pick aren't really good but the good ones often outperform the meta and become meta until they are nerfed into the ground

@@dijonjohn1011 but the thing is, imo, reaching challenger level with not new off meta picks multiple times, with some of them not even being good ones, makes him crazy. Also, I would imagine that in Challenger, playing the advantage of surprise isn’t anywhere near as high as lower elos

I have been a huge believer in thresh top for about 3 years now ever since I started watching Cryo. Seeing this video felt like a fever dream. The amount of flame and hate I have received for playing and endorsing Thresh top has been so massive. I literally deleted my reddit account after being harassed by hundreds of people for saying thresh top was viable. This feels like such a huge vindication. I can’t believe this is real.

Ryze is a good support with spell book, everfrost/luden, cosmic, rylai, winterguard...mainly extending fight so your jungler arrives and stealing enemy golem/chickens

I love how everyone thought it was Cyro. A bit of a shame that it wasn't, but at least thresh top got more recognition

A few tips for people that just watched this video and want to try Thresh Top: 1. have a look at CryoBeat on Yt like Happy Chimes said at the end of the video if you haven't already, he's the OG Thresh Top player; 2. Dorans Shield is almost always a much better starting item than Corrupting Pot, the mana management comes with practice but it's not undoable and Dorans gives you a much easier early game. 3. Frostfire Gauntlet was nerfed for ranged users (bcs of frostfire Senna abusers) and it doesn't work well on Thresh; 4. In this build I would go Shieldbow, which provides the shield and utilizes well the Lethal Tempo. If you prefer a tanky option, Sunfire Aegis works very well on Thresh; 5. HappyChimes said at 7:17 that Thresh is not a split pusher, but his wave clear is good, honestly if you take TP instead of Ghost, there will be a lot of potential to split push and apply pressure on the map. A good alternative to not having Ghost is simply to buy Chemtank as Ghost has less value than TP for Thresh in the landing phase. 6. Titanic Hydra has incredible synergy with Thresh's autos, usually a very good 1st item even considering it has less value for ranged champions. Buying it as a second item is not bad either but because it is so expensive there are better 2nd item options 7. And lastly, Grasp of the Undying is a very good primary rune on Thresh Top, it's very easy for him to stack it vs melee toplaners, and I would say better than Lethal Tempo in most matchups. Either way, enjoy your Thresh Top games and may the Lord Cryo bless your souls' rng :)

I used to stop enjoying the game till I started playing off meta thresh, He's just so fun to play off meta with, I did it ranked and got to diamond with all sorts of builds with a 60+% win rate. It's nice to see it being played at the highest level, gives me motivation for my climb to challenger with ad thresh.

My man, I love you for mentioning Cryo, he was first person to convince me to play off-meta and I love his content.

Top thresh is my favourite off meta, support thresh just doesn't fulfill the fantasy presented by his lore, but top thresh does.

Tbf Ady is a legendary player but I don't know if this is a better strat than Cryo's, taking Grasp and Titanic. I haven't played Trash top with this build but with Cryo's it definitely felt good

When I go Thresh on Aram I do a very similar build, Fleet Footwork, tank boots - Frost Gauntlet - Rapid Firecannon. I focus more in doing a big single auto then having a lot of attack speed, since I can't auto while using Q, att speed feels kinda useless. Might try him top with my friends today haha

I knew I had something going! I used to play this last season but with more of a glass canon build. I’m gonna have to try this tankier build

I experimented with Thresh mid awhile back when I was playing with my friend who’s a Rek’Sai OTP. The game plan was farm vs mages and let the wave push in, then lantern my jungler into lane where he would flash knockup and we’d get a free kill. If I was against an assassin, I’d just bully them levels 1-3 with autos and PTA, and then we would dive for the kill. I built Titanic Hydra->Frostfire Gauntlet->Warmog’s. It was pretty troll but I ended up with a solid winrate on the pick, and it was always fun to show off a weird pick like that.

This reminds me a lot of the full ad kraken thresh midlane that is played in urf

what i used to try sometimes was Thresh Top with Darkharvest and tank build ( before s13 items) , when all i could see top was vayne and kalista against fragile champs go max Q and lure them into your tower until you get armor , against tanks just farm

Oh, I've played top thresh full tank before the grasp ranged nerfs, it worked the same but just less damage. It's do-able but your team has to have the engage.

I suffered Thresh too a couple of weeks ago. He destroyed my Fiora so bad.

I have some time as a Thresh Top user (M7 if I had the Thresh piece) and there are some very good matchups for Thresh! But you mainly want to ban Mundo always, is your hardest counter, Mordekaiser and Darius are some very hard ones if they can connect at least 1 E... But with Morde you cannot escape his R and Darius just kills you... Some very good matchups are Riven, Camille, Sett, Garen and tanks have kind of a hard time itemizing vs Thresh AD, even Rammus is not safe... Just Mundo which is more of a Bruiser

I remember back in season 4 when I tried this and popped off with 25 kills vs akali, fun times, probably couldn't do it in today's meta lol

Thresh top is great for one thing, wether you're good with it or not, it's getting an S. If you can't get an S with thresh to get a case or to level him up, playing him top is great because your score also depends on your farm, and when you have 200+ farm with thresh, you're almost guaranteed an S if you're not 0/10.

i play bard with weird builds since i think 2 years now and it always brings a smile in my face watching guys like babus and ady reaching challenger using this weird builds, it motivates me now with your excuse i am going to steal adys build and use it in my bardi :D if you are reading this and are diamond in lan you where warned so you should dodge if you see a bard in your games

Check out lightrocket2, he's a taric jungle one-trick in challenger. Taric got buffed recently so it's an under the radar pick that has the potential to become mainstream if it catches on, I've heard some people predict it will show up in pro play. I've played it, and it's actually super strong, taric can duel anyone and he has super strong objective control.

I played against a thresh top and it was basically like playing against a ranged top

I miss old-school Crit Thresh. Those were the days! Running Thresh/Blitz in the bot lane. Critting people for 50-80% of their HP. Good times.

As Support Main, the build wise is soooo good that when I tried it. I lost... XD this thus needs a ton of experience and discipline.
