Hot, humid weather. Short people with shitty accents. Disgusting manners. People walking into MRT stations like soldier ants. Chewing gum is a criminal offense. Not flushing toilets is a criminal offense. In fact, almost everything is a criminal offense, including being naked in your own home even when you're alone. This is an Orwellian country. A fekkin joke of a country. What's there not to like?

@@brianlaudrup5271- I have lived in NYC and now living in San Francisco. Both cities have pockets of extremely shitty places where world-class criminal activities happens everyday and no one gives a shit. Why because there are no "criminal offense" rules established so people are so shitty and are full of envy of other successful people. In Singapore, no one cares. Traffic offenses in North America and Europe have heavy penalty too when you cross the line. In North America and Europe, if you are stark naked in your own home and your blinds or curtains are drawn closed, you can bet that your naked lifestyle is going to be displayed to the world via social media. Why, because people in these countries stay indoors most of the time and are bored so your nakedness is a past time for them. In Singapore no one cares. Why because most people are out of their homes enjoying the outdoors. Next time, when you sit on a disgusting salivary chewing gum on the train or bus or car, don't swear all the dirty f words. Just enjoy the chewing gum sticking to your bums. Don't glorify your western country or other western countries. There are many many serious faults in western countries. It's the same for any country.

I agree! When I watched the CNA documentary on the illegal immigrants walking the line to the US, I’m reminded of how blessed I am to live in safe and stable Singapore. There is no perfect country but in my heart, Singapore is as close to perfection as we can ever get.
This is the best and most helpful interview that Max has done. The health part is what I'm trying to achieve, doing the 16/8 fast, which is very doable. Some things which I didn't think it's possible for me, such as drinking kopi-o kosong, I'm doing it. I never even like coffee in the first place. 😀 But kopi-o kosong is very drinkable now, not my favourite I admit. But adding a little unsweetened oat milk, it's been my go-to beverage now. Like he said baby steps with small habits. Every small healthy habits we acquire, it's a win. Just have a series of small wins and it becomes something great, for our bodies.

He talks about the difficulty in making healthy foods. This is solely for expats. Working in Asia or in Singapore, let's face the fact, no work life balance. Better taxes yes, better food yes, easier to access yes, better health facilities and probably best healthcare system yes. But there are cons too, bad weather, squeezing with people on MRT if you're not rich enough to get a car, while watching self centered younger ones not giving up seats to elderly disheartens me, watching a working adult snatching a seat from me where I gave to a pregnant lady upsets me so much. Watching zero customer service other than haidilao and random rarely seen cafe once a life time. This needs to be raised. There's always good and bad side of each country. Needless to say the Govt did an excellent job, however cybercrime and fraud is an issue.
I wish...
I was born in Singapore ,no doubt I keep complaining how boring my country.Even the malls are selling the same thing. But 1 thing I'm really appreciate Safety.
(Most) Singaporeans compared to (most) Americans (because he is from LA, USA) are same high flyer go-getters (money or influence), but (most) Singaporeans have a good conscience and an innate willingness to care and share with people less fortunate than themselves. Americans? I don't think they (many of them) care about anyone but themselves.
PAP Forever!
Thing is, if you come from America to anywhere in the world, you are already privileged by way of currency power, so take your pick!
Nobody is satisfying.we all humanity
In all fairness you also need some money in the bank account. It would be a different story if you had to wait on tables for $10 an hour.
Interesting discussion from a scientist. If you're considering 18:6 intermittent fasting (IF), a recent study shows the time you have the last meal of the day is important - when on IF diet those eating by 8pm are less likely to have high blood sugar, atherosclerosis and heart disease (early death) than those eating by 10pm. I'm uncertain why he takes a lot of chia seeds. If it's for omega-3 fatty acids, it is better to take algal or fish oil, which contain DHA and EPA (omega-3s which are shown to be better for the heart and brain), whereas chia seed's omega-3 is are in the form of ALA, not easily converted to DHA and EPA by the body.
I bet there's so many Americans feeling sorry for him right now that he gave up his right to carry a gun absolutely everywhere he goes to protect himself from all of the dangers that don't exist in Singapore. I just know that there's Americans in the comments wondering how he deals with life now that he doesn't have the right to summarily murder every single person who knocks on his front door without prior warning/notice.

Keep in mind also that there are more than a hundred countries with smaller population than Singapore.

Singapore is efficient and successful in spite of her size and not because of it. Otherwise, she wouldn't be called an economic 'miracle'.
Take everything with a pinch of salt. Dont forget that the guest here is a stakeholder of a company that works closely with the gov, of course he's going to keep singing the praises of the sg gov. Likewise for Max, they might have agendas for getting pr/citizenship and this is their way of building a portfolio for the application.
Easy to say when you're a highly paid foreigner and the sg gov loves you more than the locals. Try taking a lower wage job say in construction and see if you still think sg is so great.

It's actually achievable personally. The tough challenge is the 4th day. 3 days is a sweet spot. In fact I was at optimal state of not feeling hungry, energetic and very functional. Human actually don't need so much food to survive. Just need to drink enough water.
"V" unmasked.
He is a 2nd tier worker in america, because caucasian colleagues will talk to him like he is underneath them. Whatever he said abt staying in sg is just bullshit
