I am from Acapulco, not far from that place.. I dont suggest you to go to this areas cause it´s dangerous.. This state is called "guerrero state" and right now is probably amog the 3 most dangerous regions in México.

Me (a Puerto Rican man) & my Ethiopian fiancé want to go visit this town. I want to enjoy their culture & support their local business's. Im sure there can be opportunities there to grow their community. They are so rich in culture like in Puerto Rico. Saludos from Ethiopia.

We the Amerindians are the victims of the greed of the Africans and the Europeans. I'm Zapotec Amerindian and I was homeless, starving for the 15 years of my life, i still have two elderly brothers who I help who are homeless, the USA stole more than 1/2 of mexican territory which Black Athletes millionaires and Oprah Wimphry who enjoy the priviliges that the US government stole and gave you from the blood sweat and tears of the Amerindian while the Amerindians of mexico starve. All of the Caribbean is occupied by Afro people that the European countries have stolen from us the Amerindians. Without the blood sweat and tears of the Amerindian all of you would be homeless.

This is happening in many cities and towns across the United States and other parts of the world. Unfortunately, people with access to capital will always have an advantage over the rest. As property taxes and other expenses rise in the area, they will be forced to sell. It's sad, but true. I wish it didn't have to be that way!

I love this town. I was there in 1989 for a couple of months in the spring, on a Pacific Surfari from California to S Mexico with an Australian couple I'd met commercial fishing in AK and WA. To make a long and interesting story short, we stopped our southward journey at Chacahua. No need to explore any further, this place was it. The break then was pretty consistent, not too big, but a lot of fun. There were no other white folks, but us, there. I remember the style of the buildings being much different than in the rest of Mexico. More rounded parts, more African. There were two, if I remember, maybe three restaurants in town. We'd try to steadily rotate every day so they all got some of our money. I went fishing with the locals in the lagoons, and out on the Pacific. We came in in the afternoon, and the women in the beach palapas who had been watching the children all day would take their share first, to feed everyone. It was our perfect place and where we stayed until all of us went our separate ways back home. Everyone in Chacahua and Galera was sooo wonderful. I LOVED it as an unknown small-town hometown. It was known by surfers in the day by some random code name I don't remember. We found it in a magazine. A couple of years after we were there, there was a National Geographic piece on the place. How wonderful it was for me to see my friends on the color pages of Nat Geo. That was a highlight. Gracias a mis anfitriones de ese día, Juan y Maricella.

I’d do the same too and I’m Mexican. It’s sad that people with a little more money can overpower others by taking away their land and birthplace just to make a factory or some shit like that. That’s one of the reasons why Mexico is so corrupted.

It is not their land it was land stolen from the Amerindians of Oaxaca. All of the Caribbean has been taken over by the Afros they always go for the fertile land, the Arawaks Amerindians have been wiped out of the Caribbean while the English and the Afros have appropriated the land.

A beautiful piece but these problems are nothing new. It’s happened thousands of times around the world. If the community can’t organize itself then others will come in and take over. I know similar villages in Mexico have faced the same issues and effectively taken control. People are coming here for the waves and a simple tax and a commitment to not sell land would help immensely.

@@papaadwoa569 the tourist economy (hostels, surf schools, restaurants) is less in the possession of people who are from Chacahua (a place with very little other economic opportunity) and increasingly more in that of people from outside, e.g. expats from foreign countries, or outside investors without a personal connection to the place. This is taking the form of a significant amount of more built infrastructure, which is not being balanced by reinvestment in the community, such as balancing the greater environmental impact of more people with a waste treatment plan taking into account human health and the ecosystem

Ton documentaire m’a beaucoup émue.. Quand je voyage dans un pays j’essaye toujours un maximum d’apprendre leur histoire, d’apprendre leurs codes et leur culture. Mais j’ai tjrs cette crainte de « déranger » de ne pas être vraiment à ma place, je me questionne bcp sur comment ils nous perçoivent, quel impact ont a sur leur quotidien.. etc Alors c’est très parlant pour moi ! En tant qu’étranger ont ne fait vraiment pas assez attention c’est vraie aux locaux, ont pensé bien trop souvent à notre confort et à nos envies. J’espère que le monde ouvrira un peu plus les yeux sur bien de choses 🙏🏼 Merci pour ce partage 🥰

Beautiful people part of our beloved country of Mexico. I was born on the northern border of Mexico in Tamaulipas. In recent years I just learned about the Afro Mexican people. Growing up I always wondered why not all Mexicans were brown skinned. We are a mixed culture of different people, at the end of the day living as one. We need to be educated on what is harming our country and community.

Mexico is not like the USA, Mexico there no black Mexican, white Mexican like Canelo in Mexico if you’re a good citizens, there’s no such thing as color lines like in America US

The land that has been stolen from the Amerindian by the Afros, they brag on camera of owning the most fertile land of Oaxaca while the Amerindian has been relegated to dry land where he starves October 12m 1492 was the day in history that changed the life of the Amerindian as he knew it forever where everybody has benefitted from the land except the Amerindia, I'm Zapotec Amerindian and my whole family was homeless living in extreme poverty

Une de tes vidéos que je classe dans les plus émouvantes... quel documentaire ! Le choix des musiques, le témoignage des locaux et le problème qui surviendrait s ils n ont pas d autres choix que de vendre leur terre. De trouver ce documentaire est une des choses les plus émouvantes qui ait pu m'arriver depuis longtemps. J'étais à chacahua il y a déjà 3 ans, je suis tombée amoureuse de cette île e ses habitants, j'y suis retournée deux fois pendant quelque semaines à chaque fois... Et je dormais dans ma tente exactement au même endroit que vous. Ça m'a tellement émue de revoir Mario dans cette vidéo. Et le petit but de plage intime et paradisiaque. Je te félicite pour ce geste, ta sensibilité pour pouvoir regarder cette situation, ton merveilleux effort pour soutenir cette lutte contre la disparition de cet endroit unique au monde. J'aimerais beaucoup pouvoir faire quelque chose moi aussi pour aider à le préserver. J'espère vraiment qu'ils vont pouvoir se défendre contre ce qui est en train de se passer. Continue comme ça, le monde en a vraiment besoin. Je te souhaite une merveilleuse année, courage et résistance.

When I was a kid, I used to go to Jalisco with my grandparents. I was amazed when I saw the Huachelo women wash in the river, (my grandfather was a Huachelo who migrated to USA). The community built them a wash area so they wouldn't pollute the river with soap. However this is the ocean. We have to do our part! We need to stop so much plastic! Glass is so much cleaner. I can not find regular water in glass bottles in any store! Only mineral water. I wonder about autism, there was a time when everything came in glass bottles, autism became more prevalent when we started getting so stuck on plastic, also cancer.

These are a fishing people who eat off the sea and what it gives. I like your idea but perhaps modify so that the Indigenous or locals there can sustain fish - fish to eat.

@@peterinasolvesit3702 sorry, but that's how fisheries work for sustainability measures, AZ, Wa state had to do this, It work's. So meanwhile they can grow fish temporarily, give them above ground pools and grow fish.

Awesome video, the community should start a fish farm for the shrimp if possible, it's sad how your land is being bought up by foreigners without considering the indigenous or resources impact because of selling out.

Could it help to carve out areas in the lagoon to farm the shrimp& oysters, for community and tourism?

I think that this problem is happening all over the world.. Bali is crowded but it all depends how you do things. If you decide to buy a piece of land somewhere, make sure you get to know the community, talk with them about the problems they are facing and be involved :)

Unfortunately, invaders from other Continents have appropriated our land, Amerindian land.

The place looks originally authentic but it needs improvement in maintenance cleaning needs to add some additional authentic furniture 🤔 like some tables chairs signs lighting but the style is cool

WHY do they keep calling them "Afro-Mexican" ? These are Indigenous Mexicans. Not everybody with dark skin came from so-called Africa. Keep in mind that the spanish invaded Mexico and other parts of the Americas which is where the lighter skin tone comes from. The same thing was done in Hawaii and North America when people from other parts of europe came over.

One thing is forsure they need to plan together as one entity learning business & investing they have the most important part down already which is owning the valuable land & it's not just valuable because of what they are being offerd but because of the potential business opportunities of that land, businesses that they can run own & run themselves in order to be able to afford to keep their land, planning as a community comes next because like I said they already have the most important part done which is owning the property

Honestly thing that’s the same exact thing that has happened in many nice places that have access to the ocean and are self service places.

I completely agree.. that's why it's so important that locals realise what will happen if they don't protect more their land

Big coporte hotels should give back to local communities by way of improving schools and looking at sustainability around fishing practices. Tourists will always want to venture outside the hotels so helping local businesses will be beneficial to all.

Pienso que en estás comunidades debe haber un líder que solicite préstamos al gobierno estatal y que se establezca la piscicultura como una forma de ingreso.. Eventualmente succederà algo así como lo que sucedió en Playa del Carmen, Cancún...pero no hay que ver como algo negativo el progreso.. tomando como ejemplo a Playa del Carmen..hay que ver como se transformó y ahora hasta la gente local hace dinero porque producto del turismo se volvió una fuente de ingresos... Mexico está viviendo una época de transformación no se puede continuar en el pasado...asesorense con gente profesional y vean como pueden transformar sus propias comunidades...

That is honestly true. Mexico has been improving in recent years even though about 45% of it’s population is still below the poverty line. I can see it growing fast like Brazil or China.

Push the foreigners back out as soon as possible and then you will see the fish, shrimp and other see creatures come back in abundance.

You can do so much wi the land use it for air B and B with the people that visit and make extra money like that

I appreciate these fishing black communities. Fishing is so essential, to maintain the land. The waters. And the people, as well as the biodiversity. I love fishing

this is bad translated.. for example at 2:05 he says: "ya venías con tus 500-1000 pesos" in the translation they wrote 500,000 pesos wich is a little fortune and of course impossible from a fishing day. 3:17 "... y de ahí saco para el pan del día" it means that from the sea he earns money feed his family. "pan del día" is a figurative way to call food in general not only bread.
